Since the upgrade to the message forums, all my MyPop email notifications are showing in my mail application (Mail on OSX) with a black background, and black text - I am assuming that it is a change in the CSS and Mail does not render it correctly... any chance of going back to the old CSS?
Cheers

Today I stopped in at the Boat Expo here in Christchurch to have a look at the GPSr gear that they had on sale and ended up having a very interesting chat with John from Electronic Navigation Ltd (he is based in Nelson, but it is an Auckland company) and he showed me a very nice Magellan SporTrak GPSr unit but much more interesting was the Magellan Meridian Platinum GPSr, the reason that it was so interesting (apart from the great features and fantastic user interface - better than my basic eTrex) was the fact they they are about to do a big push in New Zealand of their land based products (Electronic Navigation Ltd is primarily involved in boat navigation) because their R&D division are just finishing up a New Zealand base map for the Magellan mapping range of GPS units - he has seen a beta version that was Auckland only and said that it went all the way down to street level, the full NZ coverage version is due out soon (initially ENL were hoping for an October release, but some delays have pushed this to the New Year (though I would imagine that they would be trying to get it out in time for Xmas purchases) so that should be something to look forward to if you are planning on upgrading your GPSr.
It will be interesting to see if this prompts Polymedia and Integrated Mapping to release Magellan compatible upgrades to NZMapped and TopoMapPro as currently I don't think either support the upload and download of waypoints from any GPSr other than Garmin (I guess because Magellan is pretty unknown here in NZ)(hopefully they do, as the Magellan interface protocol is easier than Garmins from the look I have had at the SDK)
Cheers

Could you not just enter the co-ords into the GPSr set to WGS84, then when you go hunting change the GPSr to UTM?

No, I actually got it trade from one of the wholesalers where I buy my computer parts for work - though saying that, by the time you add GST onto my price, I am not saving much over design_design's prices. (a camera that used CF cards rather than SD cards would have made the transaction a lot cheaper - thats a tip for anyone planning on buying a digital camera)

Congrats - I thought about bidding for it, but then thought that Bernadette would kill me if I bought something else expensive without telling her (I just got a 128Mb SD card for my camera )

An update from Gav:
The order has arrived in his hot little hands, but he is away from his home base in the US for a week, so will ship them when he gets back. All going well they will arrive in NZ in about 4 weeks from now. At this time we will know how much each item costs, and will contact people who placed orders to get money and then they will be couriered to you. At this stage, payment will be made by money transfer into Gavins bank account, once he has confirmed to tgsnoopy or myself that he has the money, we will pop your items into a courier bag and send them off (In my case, if you are in Chch, I can probably drop them off, saving you a courier, but costing you a beer/coffee and a chat with my ugly mug )
Looking forward to seeing lots of NZ travel bugs in our caches.
Cheers
Nick.

Wow, there is actually quite a lot of GPSr on trademe at the moment - wish there was when I wanted to buy my GPS.
Garmin 12 (as endorced by tgsnoopy)
GPS Chartplotter (ok, this is not really suitable for geocaching, but if you could get land maps, it would be cool for in the car, look here)

I wonder if the seller has been geocaching? Might not be so quick to sell if they had....

Hmmm, I tried that when I read this thread, but it did not do anything...

What about missing "hidden" caches? I seem to be missing 9 hidden caches...

Thought it might to time to bump this message up.

I am pretty familiar with geocaches in the South Island of New Zealand, and I can't say that I have seen any cat themed caches down here (though having 2 cat's myself, along with plenty of cat toys, it sounds like a good potential cache idea)
Hopefully someone from the North Island can give you some good news.
Cheers

What a great idea, but what about format? MiniDV, MicroMV, Digital8 (plus analog 8mm, SVHS, VHSC, Hi-8...) - No matter what you choose you are going to eliminate some cachers with video cameras, but I do think it is a awesome travelbug idea.
