  1. Now I want one of these GPSr units. Maps that you can download that are not in a propriety format... yummy Nick

Any country overseas will do for now ~ A fellow cacher from New Zealand (RedIguana) is currently in DC until November - if you can get a geomonkey into a cache near him (that is not virtual!), and let him know, I am sure he will keen on trying to uplift and bring back. Cheers Nick.
  3. For those you are new and have not fully explored the geocaching.com website, the "gear" that Gav is talking about above can be viewed here. For South Island orders I can be contacted at nick at automata dot co dot nz Cheers Nick.

  5. Nuts, Mobi is only for Palm OS 3.x, guess us OS 2.x users are out of luck (I have an orignal 1000 with the 2.0.5 upgrade) Nick.
  6. Have you talked to Karl, as it sounds like you are both working towards the same goal. Check out this web page and this thread - I have been playing with version 0.2 and it works great (although I have been guilty of not contacting Karl with any bug reports, a crime is will rectify today, now that I have been reminded ) But hey, normally us mac users don't have any choice for software, it will be nice to be spoilt for choice for once Nick. (TiBook, Keyspan, yellow etrex)

  10. quote:I didnt realise that it was in the Nelson area , I have checked out caches that have the area in brackets after the cache name on the geocache website. For a good overview of the NZ caches, check Buxley's page out. Nick.

  12. Congratulations on hiding your caches. I was planning on coming up last week, but the weather foiled me - now with more caches I will definitely have to find the time. When are you planning on hitting "Para Para Noia" Nick.

  14. quote:Now, something I would like is a comprehensive csv of NZ Geocaches. I'm after... Gav, Geobuddy (see link above) will save as CSV files, you could grab the .loc or MacGPSPro files from the link above and save as CSV (of course you will need to add my couple of new caches )............ doh , I just had a look at the .loc files and they don't provide all the detail that you are looking for. When I get bored of playing with the surveymark data (could LINZ have made it more complex?) I will look at how difficult it would be to write a parser to strip the required data from the html pages. Cheers Nick.

  16. I guess the only thing to point out is that Buxleys maps also show some inactive and destroyed caches, which explains why it lists 193 caches, where as geocaching.com only lists 180. Nick
  17. Courtesy of HunterGatherer, here are the .loc files for north island and south island (from data taken on 16/6/02) Cheers Nick.
  18. Oh, sorry. I might be able to do that and give you a MacGPSPro file that you can convert to .loc with Geobuddy... give me half and hour and I will let you know. Nick.
  19. Sorry, being a mac user I don't use EasyGPS - but what you could do is download each NZ page (8) by using the "Check All" button at the bottom of the page, then the "Download" button. This will give you 8 .loc files that you can combine using the GeoBuddy program, and import the single resultant file into EasyGPS. Cheers Nick. 20. It would be great if the status bar (that shows the lat/long at the mouse position) could show the distance the mouse is away from the current displayed point. This would allow you to get an idea how far something (geocache, minutewar flag etc) is away from the nearest road. Cheers Nick.
  21. How is the progress going with your application? I am looking forward to the first release and am quite willing to kick some money your way. (1.TiBook400, 1a.yes, 2.OS9.2 and OSX.1, 2a.yes, 3.eTrex Basic, 4.just waypoint management would be enought to keep me happy, 5.yes) Cheers Nick.
