  1. I use a Garmin legend for my GPS GSAK ($20) is the best program for managing GXP file on your home computer. (Exports to GPS - Palm - Streets & Trips & Others) Get CacheMate ($8) for managing your PDA files on a Palm I have a Zire 31 Color screen & 16 meg memory. It works great inside but you can not read the screen in bright sunlight) I order a Zire M150 (USB & Internal Battery) from E-Bay 2 Meg Memory Non Color because they are easerly to read out side. (For Paper less Caching Cheaper is better) I tried MibiReader and it is a joke compared to CacheMate I have not tried Pucker and personal do not know how it rates against CacheMate
  2. It is my understanding that the British created the Lat & long System(Greenwich England) so why would they have a different system??
  3. The legend's waypoint files are LOC (Free) or GXP (Premium Membership) Palm uses PDA files 1) GXP or LOC files must be converted to PDA files to use on a Palm 2) Here is the system I use. Order Pocket Queries and down load them to GSAK ($20) to manage files on your home computer. Convert your PQ using Cachemate ($8) Cmconverter to PDA format for my palm. 3) I also use Microsoft Streets & Trips to make maps with above files
  4. It does not take much force to move the 5 way joystick (It sound like you are pushing to hard)
  5. I use a Garmin Legend and I can not find where you edit waypoint symboly in GSAK (Park, cemetery, buiding and etc) Can you edit waypoint symbols in GSAK
  6. TNLNSl Took Nothing Left Nothing Signed Log
  7. Geocaching Swiss Army Knife (GSAK $20) is the best that I have seen for managing your caching (LOC & GPX Files) (Finds DNF & Etc) on your Computer (PC) GSAK also will send batches of caches to you map at one time (I use Microsoft Streets & Trips) Next step is to go paperless with a Palm (I use Zire 31 & Zire M150) and Cachmate $8 to manage your files on the Palm If you upgrade to a Premium Member $30 per year you can order Pocket Queries (PQ) 500 at a time Lot faster that downloading one file at a time.
  8. The picture of the Four Children (Third Post from the top) are not Cachers they are Gang Bangers (Three are flashing Gang signs) That picture needs to be Pulled
  9. Option one Down load EasyGPS from the web site and you can down load LOC files to your PC and then to your GPS. Option Two (Recomended) Sign up for Priemun Membership ($30 per year) Order Pocket Queries of the caches in your area. (Up to 500 at a time) You can use EasyGPS to transfers the GXP file to your GPS. Get CacheMate for $8 to convert your GXP files to PDA files to load to your Palm. I would also reconmend getting GSAK (Swiss Army Knife) for managing Gxp files on your PC ($20) and transfer files to your GPS or Palm. You have 200 finds so you enjoy caching but you will enjoy it more with the proper computer programs and palm programs (Note I am a newby at this and only have 20 finds)
  10. Hello MD Agent Ok, I'm totally lost with this GSAK. It will take some time to figure it out. I noticed that the coordinates are display using S and E instead of N and W. What's with that? Clyde who wrote and supports GSAK lives Down Under, his sample data is in Austriala (S not N E not W) I am a newbe and just downloaded GSAK and playing with it. But I am ready to by Microsoft Streets & Trips to make maps for near caches.
  11. Hello WaredBear So what are the differences...pro's vs con's of Cachemate vs GSAK? Cachemate is a PDA (Program) that converts GPX files to PDA files, so you can view them on you Palm (PDA). It has all of the information on the web site cache page on your palm. (Hints that can be decoded & Etc) GSAK is a PC Program that manages GPX files on you PC. (Sort view Etc) looks like a excel spreadsheet. You then can filter files to send to you GPS and to Cachemate.
  12. The best program that I am aware of for a Palm PDA is Cachemate for $8.00 Link is on this web site somewhere
  13. I am newer at this than you, but this is the way that I have progressed ( I use a Garmin Legend) I started out downloading LOC Files to EasyGPS and then to Garmin Legend I purchased a PDA (Zire 31) Next I became a Premium Member, so that I can order Pocket Queries (GXP Files) Purchased Cachemate for $8.00 to convert GPX files and hotsynk them to the DPA I have just downloaded GSAK to Manage GXP or LOC files on my computer. Upgrade your GPS to one that has a cable to connect to your computer. Purchase a PDA to load all of the information that is on the Web site to your PDA so that you do not have to print out all of the cache pages. (Pocket Queries to Cachemate)
  14. Pocket Queries Files are E-Mailed to you from Geocaching (You can order two kinds of files, GPX and MobiReader) Click on the GPX file and it loads to EasyGPS, then transfer to your GPS. Cachemate's CMConverter takes the GPX file and converts it to a format that can be used on a PDA (Palm) then hotsync to PDA (go to http:www.smittyware.com and find the Maryland Cache page and read and follow instructions) MobiReader loades straight to MobiReader (Don't waste your time with it) Uncle TK
  15. I am new to Geo-Caching and I am going to buy a palm. If you were going to get a new one whick model would you purchase? Thanks Uncle TK
  16. From the Geocaching seek and find page OKLAHOMA HISTORY 101 (Yukon 73099) North 35% 33.053 West 97% 44.828 But when I down load them to EASYGPS I get the following North 35.55508833 West 97.7471333 Is this normal. Uncle T K
