  1. When I save the Geocaching Icon to the desktop using Vista, I do not get the Geocaching Logo but a window Internet Icon.

When I right click on the Icon, then click on properties I can see the Geocaching Icon but can not get it to the desktop

How do you get the Geocaching Icon on the desktop??

  2. I have a couple questions along the same line, so I won't start a new post. A friend gave me 2 older units, a Garmin Rino 110 and 130. If I buy a USB to Serial adapter, is it now plug and play just like it was a pure USB cable, or do I have to turn the computer off and on? Also, will I still be able to download the cache coordinates from this site even though these GPS units are a few years old? Thanks for any help.

I do not belive that you will have plug & play. The computer thasnks that you are using a serial port.

If you have a Working Cable connected to your GPS you can down load

  3. I would like to have a car GPS that will do a couple of different things for me.

I would like it to have a view looking straight down at the map showing my currewnt location

Touch the wrench, then map, then map view, Choose Track Up, North Up, or 3d View)

Id also like to be able to load cache locations (just the location) into the unit so my birds eye view

You need GSAK and the Download from the big Nuvi thread.

  4. When I'm planning a day out somewhere I just print the map from Geocaching.com.

I'll find a cache in the area I'm going to, click on the second map window and then zoom to the appropriate level so that I get the caches I want, and then print that out.

Makes it easier to plan a route that way.

    1) Filter the caches that you want to see on map.

    2) Send to GPS Unit.

    3) Export to mapsource to view on map. OR

    4) Export to Streets and Maps

  5. How do you get the Geocaching Icon on your desktop with Vista????

    I open up www.geocaching/com

    right click on screen

    Click on Create Shortcut

(Do you want to put shortcut on desktop)

    Click on yes

A standard windows icon appears and not the Geocaching Icon.

If I right click on Icon

    Click on properties

I can see the Geocaching Icon

But I can not change the Icon to the Geocaching Icon

    Help

Funny that Lowrance would recommend GDM for use with the Go series. Previously they said it wouldn't work and other users have confirmed this.

Can you translate into something I can understand? (very simple would work best)

What was said in the other topic, not what you specifically typed. ;)

In theroy you can download waypoints from a PC. (If you are a Computer NERD)

Most people will buy a better GPS that downloads Waypoints in Normal GPS File Formats
