  1. I've tried several gpsr and my favorite is the Lowrance Endura- easier to use and I can download gpx files easily- Has a goto map that pinpoints cache and sorts into found and not found- Everyone in my family finds it easier than the Magellan and the etrex we had- I bought it at Academy and it was about $120- When it breaks down I will get another- I haven't used all its features yet but it just seems to get better and better as I'm learning- My daughter inherited one of the other---she's saving for this one--also color is great for families with kids, hard to lose the bright yellow- One thing I don't like is the long wait at turn-on, but it does have a power-saver feature--
  2. I like to find and leave something in those film canisters. I always leave it on the bottom and make sure the lid is on tight. So far i have only found pathtags. And it sure makes my day. my kids would love to find a dime, nickle or quarter in one. Since these items are on the bottom- if you don't want them, leave them. Common sense, I think.
  3. Our first trip we took sandwich fixings and chips plus a case of water. We pack granola bars for hikes. Last week we picked up a bucket of chicken to eat with a veggie salad and rolls- came in handy since I got sidelined with a kidney stone and couldn't cook. I was thinking about making those meat pastries for the next trip. I think those could be frozen and heated that morning. ...maybe we'll try heating them on the car engine. I saw a show once where they cooked hamburger patties that way. My kids would get a kick out of this
  4. We chose our cache name because our children's names all start with H, it was the name of our 4-H club and because I had all this leftover froggy stuff like these pins. These fit nicely in micro caches
  5. We just recently started geocaching. I wanted something to do to make memories with my kids. (and get them out-of-doors, away from facebook, psp, wii, tv, etc) Definitely worth everything we pay for trips and equipment. plus souvenirs (aka swag) FREE! moneymakers-sell maps, write a book, Sell photos, offer legal help-(We've been questioned by police twice)
