  1. CNN has renamed our activity. Listen carefully and you'll hear the guy say "geocatch" more than once. http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/us/2008/0...ers.rescued.kgw
  2. I use the same setup. The only way I know is to use GSAK to transfer info to the GPS. I don't know of any way to directly transfer from the PDA to the GPS. Perhaps someone else knows something I don't.
  3. I opened it in GSAK in a new database, no filters applied.
  4. You should use the one GC provides. If it is happening on that one then I have no idea. That's the one I'm using, the button they supply on the query page that you can only run once a week. My old locationless finds show up. The last of my finds that show up are several I found at an event in March. Nothing since then shows up. Since March I've found caches in MO, KS, CO, UT and AZ. None of those are in the query results. If I click on my account page and click to see all my cache finds, they are listed there.
  5. When I run a pocket query on "my finds" the results come up short. The last finds that it contains are from March 2007. I've had about 38 finds since then and they aren't included in the query results. Does anyone know why this would happen? I've always used the same username, etc. Nothing has changed with my account. Thanks.
  6. I just noticed since the recent changes were made to the cache and TB pages, the mileage a bug travels from one cache to another is no longer listed, just the total miles traveled. Is this a permanent change or will it be appearing again in the future? I always found it interesting to see the miles between each cache.
  7. Things are running slow here tonight. I keep getting this error message, Server Error in '/' Application.
  8. Here's an example I had recently. I retrieved The Tick TB last month in a cache in Sullivan, MO. The last log for it was 4 1/2 months prior in a completely different cache in Jefferson City, MO. Who ever picked it up in Jeff City and dropped it in Sullivan never logged it. You'll just have to use your own judgment. Due to the unpredictablility of TBs, I'm implementing an idea I read about recently for my remaining 6 TB tags. I have photocopied the tags and laminated them. I'll use the laminated copies on the bugs and if they go missing, I can simply make another copy to start a new bug.
  9. I understand all the differing totals of countries, but if gc.com is stating there are caches in 214 countries and there are only 183 countries listed on the search page, how do you find caches in the other 31 countries or territories?
  10. I'm confused, did a search and couldn't find any past posts to answer my question. According to about.com , there are 193 countries in the world. The geocaching.com homepage states there are 156,303 caches in 214 countries. I even counted the countries on the hide and seek page and didn't come up with 214. Where does gc.com come up with 214 countries? Thanks.
  11. You're close enough to St. Louis to join SLAGA, St. Louis Area Geocachers Association. Here's a link to the site. St. Louis Area Geocachers Association And if you're not busy next weekend, join us at MOGA. Midwest Open Geocaching Adventure Also, before you start racking up a bunch of finds, you might want to consider getting your boys' their own accounts. I just started caching in February and wasn't sure if I should get my son a seperate account or not, so I asked here. Giving My Son His Own Account
  12. The easiest way I've found to check if my locationless find is already logged is to view all the logs, then click Edit, then click Find (on This Page). I enter 38 because where I'm located, the north degrees is 38. I quickly go through the logs checking for any similiar coordinates when a N 38° is highlighted. Even the ones with more than 1000 logs can usually be checked in a couple of minutes. I know that's not quick in the 21st Century, but it works for me.
  13. I'm a home health nurse and I've been able to find several caches during my lunch break or on the way to my next visit. It helps me get to many different areas without making an extra trip to just cache. My Saturn gets 30-35 mpg and I drive that most of the time. Although, I did drive my Ford Super Duty with the Powerstroke diesel yesterday to find a couple of nearby caches on my day off. I have to run the beast occassionally, but I'm hating diesel costing more than gas for several months now.
  14. Your son, just lost his tail. Check you mail box, again. Your numbers are in! Happy Caching, ----- SF1 Thanks again SF1. The membership has been activated. And thanks to everyone for the input.
  15. Just didn't know if anyone had ever objected to logging finds for a child since they aren't actually "finding" the cache as far as using GPS, etc. Although he is very handy when we're close. I know it will add to his enjoyment of geocaching, but since I'm new to this, I just wanted some input as to the etiquette. Thanks.
  16. I just started geocaching this week. After finding a few in my area, I took my son out on Thursday, a cold but otherwise beautiful day. He's 6-years-old and had a great time. Is it acceptable to start an account for him on geocaching.com to keep track of his "finds"?
