  1. Be sure to tell them that we sent you. Blacksheep was helpfull with our last cache bash, way more than Sportsmans But that's another story. I like to let the stores know why I am spending money there so hopefully we will get the respect we deserve.
  2. If you want to pay too much try the Sportsmans Warehouse, but come over to CDA and look at the Black Sheep first. It's just past Kmart on hwy 95 and they have pretty good prices. On your way over you can stop by the Bocaboda espresso stand at stateline. They are fellow cachers and may even give you a good deal, just flash them your gps

  4. I think that quality itself is subjective. I agree that we should strive to do certain things make our caches better as in more durable, more enviromentaly friendly, etc., but when you start limiting people on how and where they can or should place a cache because it doesn't meet someone elses idea of quaility you will hurt much of the creativity that makes this so fun. I have a cache that is placed behind a public restroom, not a very attractive spot, although the park it's in is nice, and yet it is one of the favorites of people that find it. I also have caches placed in extremly beautiful places, they have value for a different reason. For a different perspective on quality try reading "Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance".
  5. I hope you aren't putting your laptop on your dashboard or looking away from the road to stare down at it while you are driving. That practice is very unsafe and could cause you to spill your beer!
  6. Sorry, this isn't about Geocaching, but I would like the input of some of the technical people in these forums. If anyone has some info about computer devices that allow people, whose only movement is their eyes, to communicate via a computer please let me know. I would like to know about research, available products, prices, etc. This would be for a patient with "locked in syndrome". I would also like info about wheelchairs with portable ventilators. Thanks
  7. Great cache, coords were a little off, but we found it eventually. Thought we heard some movement in the log so I unloaded my 44 into it to be safe, only hit the cache a couple of times. Then I stabbed my hiking stick in there a few times for good measure. Left a lightstick, some bullet holes, and a bloodstain, took the badger. Thanks 4 the hunt. I think badgers should increase the difficulty by at least 1/2 a star.
  8. quote:Originally posted by Anders:Check out http://www.stralfors.se and have a look for yourself. There is an "In English" link on the page. Anders Interesting company, but I couldn't find anything about the bikini R&D department. Must be top secret stuff huh?
  9. I guess I should have said bikinis und high heels. By the way, where do you work? I might be interested in investing!
  10. If I have in any way in my previous post offended anyone anywhere including, but not limited to... Swedish people, Swedish women, non Swedish people or women, people with garbage cans, people from Idaho with garbage cans, people from Idaho without garbage cans, hyper-sensitive Canadians, women from Sweden that wear bikinis, men from Sweden that wear bikinis, beer companies, Trojan, people who recycle, the Swedish bikini team, etc, etc, I am truly sorry.
  11. quote:Originally posted by Anders:Swedish men are known to be able to take statements about that we aren't skilled at our work, that our wives are uglu, even that we are bad lovers, as long as you don't critizise how we drive our cars.Anders Now I am troubled. I have never heard a joke about ugli Swedish wives. I had been led to believe that all Swedish women were tall, beautiful, blonde, well endowed, young women with a penchant for American guys drinking beer, and that always wear bikinis with high heels. I hope you are not suggesting that the beer advertisments have been lying to us, especially after I have been saving all the money from my "Idaho piggy bank" (a garbage can where we throw our beer cans for recycling) for a trip to Sweden with a suitcase full of beer and trojans.
  12. quote:Originally posted by Cache Canucks:Sounds to me like you haven't done much travelling outside of places where all you needed to get by was to speak English (born/raised/live in Idaho you say?). Were that not the case, and you _had_ at some point found yourself facing the challenge of using a second language, I'm sure that you would be a bit more appreciative of those who didn't mock your efforts to do so ...even in jest. It's not a question of being able to take a joke, it's just a question of good manners. If that's lost on you, 'Oh well'. You have got to be one of the most self righteous, assuming, whiners I have seen here. First you assume that Anders is as hypersensitive as yourself and can't take a joke. Then you assume that he can't stick up for himself so you have to butt in and come to his rescue, when it is obvious he doesn't need it. Then you assume that since I was born/raised/live in Idaho that I have never been or lived anywhere else, and that we don't have people from different backgrounds living right here! From what I have seen of it, and that is far more than you think, most of the free world does not share in your morally uptight PC views, and can take a joke without coming unglued. You should check your facts before drawing conclusions about me or others here, don't assume you know everything about someone just by reading their profile. Anders, I think that alcohol based detergent is what you meant, and if I make a joke about your wording I will try to let you know the correct way in the future, if I know the correct way. I still prefer the way you said it originaly, and plan to use it myself when the opportunity arises because it was funny! But what do I know, I am just a dumb hick from Idaho that has never left my backyard.
  13. quote:Originally posted by Cache Canucks: Even as a light hearted jibe (as I'm sure you meant it), it's just 'bad form'. And I am sure that you meant that in your opinion it is bad form. I don't remember electing you as the judge of what is good or bad form. Nor are you the forum police. Anders is an intelligent adult, and I am sure he isn't going to let a little joke about something, that for all you know was just a typo, send him running away like a scared rabbit. All this PC junk where everyone is worried about saying anything that might offend someone makes me sick. I think that you have insulted Anders more by suggesting that he could be such a baby as to let such a little thing cause him to stop posting. I know he isn't, and if he wants to make a joke or two about my lisp I'll be laughing right along with him, and then maybe I'll tell him some jokes about Toronto.

Anders Is that something they use to clean alcoholics with, or do you have to buy it directly from an alcoholic? I don't think I'd be going out on much of limb by suggesting that Anders' English is probably a heck of a lot better than your Swedish... http://canflag.ptbcanadian.com/images/animated/provii/ontario1.gif And I would be willing to bet that his sense of humor is considerably better than yours. Lighten up! Did you miss the smiley face?

  16. If the batteries are to thin then why not try the handymans secret weapon---duct tape. Can you put a strip of it around the middle of the battery to make it sit in the case better?
  17. I have a handheld CB radio with a quick disconnect antenna. It works well if I am in my truck and hook it up to the cable running to an antenna mounted on the truck. Are the rules for FRS different?
  18. I am definitly getting better than a mile with the radio, and I think the radio is better than many people have been led to believe. As for my hunting area, just drive down that old dirt road, hang a left at the big rock, and park by the big tree on the right. If they develop a newer unit with a 2 to 5 watt radio, and it takes bigger batteries than the AA's I don't think I would want to carry it around in the woods. The 120 is a pretty nice size, and the rechargable AA's are very convienant. I agree that there will be some better units developed, but probably not for some time and I would bet that they won't even be close to the price of the current units. I think $200 is dirt cheap for what you get. I do like the idea of an external antenna port, but the range so far has been satisfactory. What surprises me is that for a new product the amount of bugs has been minimal! So far the only ones I know of are the internal mic volume and the sub-channels on channel 22. Both of which have already been fixed by free software upgrades. Anyone else know of any other bugs yet?
  19. You can get a 120 for about 200 bucks, not much more than a legend, with all the features of a legend and then some, plus a quad antenna! If you think you can shout out your coords for over a mile and be understood, please don't go near my hunting areas. The gpsr itself is worth the money, the radio and the games etc. are just gravy. I haven't had any problems with battery life while using the radio, they take three AA's and I have used mine for several hours with rechargables and not had to change them out. I prefer to be out playing with a new toy instead of waiting to see what the next generation will be. It's not really that much money for a good gpsr with some features that nothing else has. 20. I would fill the cache with rino's. It would be more fun having one if all the other cachers in the area had one too.
  21. quote:Originally posted by Moun10Bike:So, did I do the right thing? If not, what would you do? Of course not, I can't believe you could do such a thing! If it was me I would delete my log, lose several nights sleep over it and stop caching for about two months. Then I would beg forgivness from all the other cachers in the area, move to Tibet, live in a monastary, and hope to recieve enlightenment. Anything less would make you a bad person. Lighten up Moun10Bike, it's just numbers and they don't count for much, especially when it's just one in -what are you up to now, 15 16 hundred? Someone that has done as much for geocaching as you is entitled to a freebe. I'll still invite you to the next cache bash, as long as you don't still have one green hand.
  22. I have a 120, but the serial cable is not the one I bought. I bought one connect to my Ipaq. I did get a response from Pc-mobile, here it is. "We have not seen a Rhino but from information we see from Garmin site it does not use the round plug as others so the Garmin R cable will not fit. We do not plan to make one for Rhino. You can send everything back to us and we will refund you once we have reveived it." I am thinking about keeping the cable and trying to locate the correct plug to make it myself or just ordering one for my Legend instead.
  23. quote:Originally posted by Moun10Bike: "We're left of Idaho; but then, who isn't?" Thanks, thats the nicest insult I've had all day!
  24. I just recieve my cable from Pc-mobile to connect my rino to my ipaq. Unfortunatly the plug for the rino is not the right size. The plug on the cable is the Garmin R type, but it is too large for the hole on the rino. I have contacted Pc-mobile about this and will post the results here. You may want to wait before buying any cables until you are sure it is the right one. If anyone has more info I would appreciate the help.
  25. Only if you forget a couple of things, like a quad antennae, peer to peer, larger screen, maping, a belt clip, games, proximity waypoints, alarm clock, the little guy with the spiked hair and sunglasses that shows up on other peoples rino's when I transmit, plus the ability to drink imports without bringing a bottle opener!
