  1. i love this idea! i'd like to get a PM for free and get an FTF! i check the site (and my caching app) often enough to see when new caches pop up! Do one in my town please!
  2. i love Geocache Navigator by Trimble! i've used it on my VZW 9630 for 2 months now! Well worth the $19.99 one time fee! It's so accurate, i've found over 100 caches with it. i used it to find GPS coordinates on my 2 hides. i'm going to get an Otterbox Defender case to use when caching. One suggestion: get an app called "Leave It On." This will add a feature in the BlackBerry menu to leave the backlight on in any app. Useful when using Geocache Navigator. Having the light go off was annoying. Let me know if you have any questions about the app.
  3. Geocache Navigator by Trimble is an awesome cache app for BlackBerry! i've used it to find over 100 caches so far, and marked 2 caches i've hidden using it. You get cache name, details, hint, log all on your BlackBerry. There is compass, radar mode as well as street mode to nav you to the area. You can create a Field Note right from GZ with one click (Found or DNF). Well worth one time fee of $19.99
  4. i placed my first cache today and it was found within 30 minutes! Yay! i left a dollar bill as FTF (it also went with the theme of my cache). i'd love to find a prize as FTF myself.
  5. i love this thread! i thought i was the only one with spider and web problems when caching. i'm not afraid of spiders, and if they're inside i catch and release them. But i hate running face first into a web and then feeling it on my lips and imaging the spider attached to me! Ewww! i have DNF caches due to too many webs. i saw a cache up ahead in an area in the woods where i had to crouch down to move forward. The webs were so large and intricate, and the spiders were hanging out right in the middle. i did an about face and won't return alone. i'll have hubby plow through or another local cacher. i have done the waving palm fan bit also. Sometimes, though, i stop to look at GPSr and look around and that's when i notice i'm being surrounded by webs with spiders. Always makes me run away. Then for a few hours afterwards i feel like my hair is a web and spiders are down my shirt. Yuck. They make for good camo though. Another thing: i have noticed rubber or plastic bug swag in containers. i get freaked out when i see those also.
  6. i hid my first cache today, and it's in the corner of my yard. i missed the FTFer, which i wanted to see. i don't plan on staring out my window stalking cachers though. i just like my cache close so o can maintain it easily. It's pretty much a PNG HIPS, so i don't think cachers will get frustrated and freaked out! It's about 140 feet from my house.
  7. i do see your point about paying members not stealing or committing vandalism because they have put money towards the game. But do regular members do that? i would think non geocachers (mainly kids and immature adults) are the culprits. Seems like a lot of trouble to be a cacher, go online to download caches into a GPSr just to muggle! But i'm new, i don't know what goes on yet.

  9. i'm not any less honest or diligent because i'm a "regular cacher." i don't understand your logic. i don't have a lot of money...so i'm more likely to "muggle" a cache. That's not true. The swag isn't good enough to steal! Haha.
  10. Isn't this site supported by the ads on it? i thought that's how sites remained free like Google and CrackBerry. If not, then i *really* appreciate those who are paying so i can play for free! Although i did buy the BlackBerry app at $19.99. If Premium Membership was a one time fee, i'd buy it. i just don't make enough to budget towards this. Maybe in the future! Not trying to be nasty but let's do the math. $30/52weeks=58¢per week How much did you spend on coffee or and/od Mt.Dew (or whatever) last week? It's seriously cheap for the entertainment buck. Great Answer! That's why i don't buy a membership. Yes, it's less than that coffee and soda but we have to chose what we put our money towards, right! Being vegan is expensive (very expensive relative to my income). i have to really be selective what i spend my income on. Healthy food (and my ethos) is more important to me. Like i said previously, that caching is free is a major draw for me. If i *had* to buy the membership, i wouldn't cache. i would be really disappointed if that was the case. But also, there's just so many free caches that i can't complain about PMO caches at all. i would be against them if they were the majority. i don't think this website would shut down if all there weren't Premium Members. The sales and ads are enough. The mods and reviewers are volunteers. The players come up with the content. The site hosts it.
  11. i don't have a lot of finds. i haven't found the PMO caches to be any better or worse than regular caches. i haven't found a cache i didn't like though...it's all fun.
  12. if that's what you think, where do you think the money from all the PMs goes? Corporate greed? Same place as where the money goes when someone buys an $11 sticker that took .50 cents to make. i don't really know. Making a few bucks is not an evil thing. Of course not! That's capitalism! i'm just glad i can play for free! It's part of what i like about this game. i used to spend time in nature for free...now i have things to search for while i'm there!

  15. It is now but a good question. Maybe PMO caches will be done away with.
  16. i won't become a premium member when i can play for free. i don't like to spend a lot on recreation. i don't mind the PMO caches though if that's what the CO wants. i get those caches for free on my BlackBerry app anyway without even knowing they are PMO until after i logged it. Even if i didn't get those free, having PMO caches would not entice me to become a Premium Member. There's so many free caches!
  17. Mine might be the first ammo can without swag then. i'm leaning towards just a FTF prize (VISA gift card) and no swag. i will have to ask the local reviewer if that's acceptable.
  18. Interesting thread. i've come to dislike any SWAG of any kind. Some has been junk, some nice items but i don't like taking any. Just creeps me out. i have left SWAG in te first 10 caches i found because i had trinkets that had meaning to me and i thought i *had* to leave something. When i hide my first cache it will be an ammo can or similar size since i live in a small town with woodsy spots. Do i *have* to fill it with SWAG? Can i just leave a log? Or is that against rules or etiquette?
  19. Does anyone know of any parks within 15 miles of Cocoa Beach that is a little more scenic (trails etc) *and* has many caches? Thanks!
  20. That's awesome! i'm going to get one for my subaru! So, do you dip the car bug into each cache you find? Or is it just for other cachers to find?
  21. i'm still new so relatively few injuries so far. The other day i had a run in with what i think is a Florida Poisonwood Tree. On contact my arm broke out in a painful red rash, then blisters started popping up. It felt like bees stinging me. i did get freaked out and left for home right away. After a few hours the rash disappeared and the blisters were just red marks! Strange! 3 days later i have an itcy rash where the stinging was and it's on other places now too, my ankle, elbow, knee. They don't burn, just itch so i can deal with that. i'm glad i didn't stick my face in the tree! Ouch!
  22. i like posting pics of cache containers. i hope that isn't considered a spoiler. i assume the CO's will email me if they want any pics removed. It seems to me there's a fine line when posting pics! And various CO's may feel differently about what pics are posted. Thanks for this thread. i'd rather an email asking me to remove pic rather than a CO just deleting my log.
  23. i've not run into any other cachers and i'm not sure i ever will! It seems most of the caches i find in my town were placed in 2008, early 2009. Many haven't been logged in a few months i'm about 2 years late to run in to anyone! i'd like to run into a local cacher though. There's one cache that has too many cobwebs for my taste and i need a cobweb clearer! lol
  24. I agree with you 100%, and by the way, I'm glad you're still here!! Thanks
  25. What does it mean if a cache has a "mine"? i'm not sure how it was rigged. But i stepped on something, felt a pull and the palm tree shook and sounded like a flock of birds flew out of it!
