  1. I see cachers cut and paste the same logs to all finds in a day (sometimes more). Does that annoy you too? Isn't that the same as spam?
  2. So if my logs had that tag line you'd be annoyed? Are you annoyed at the tag line, the short logs or just mobile phone users? I like knowing who is using their mobile phones to cache. But that's just because smartphones are a hobby of mine. I wouldn't mind if every GPS left a tag line. Interesting seeing what everyone is using! I don't understand why COs get so upset and fussy about what's in the OL logs. Isn't the most important thing that seekers are having fun walking to, search for, and finding your cache? Why get annoyed at a TFTC? Or a cell phone tag? They still found the cache and had fun!
  3. Then the title of the thread is wrong and the OPs anger is misplaced. It's not all, or even most, mobile phone users doing that. It seems there is an anger towards mobile phone users. I've seen many threads on it since I joined.
  4. Read my logs from the field. Stop picking on mobile phone cachers. Logged from my BlackBerry using Geocaching Navigator by Trimble
  5. I use my BlackBerry for caching and it works great. The only downfall is the battery life isn't the best. I'm thinking of getting a geomate jr to go along with my BlackBerry. I don't have a PC so I like the idea of the pre-loaded caches. Can anyone tell me the cons of the geomate jr? IE why I would want a "regular" GPSr instead? Thanks!
  6. I've had mine on my subbie for 2 months with no discovered. Sniffles. I'm thinking of just releasing the dog tag, and cutting off the number that's on the car decal. I like it as a decoration. Cachers have seen it but not logged it! Boooo!
  7. Seeing, or coming in contact with, bears is one of my worst fear. Don't they just attack if they're startled or feel threatened? Which is always...ugh.
  8. 48 DNFs logged for me. I resolved quite a few of them. I got 5 yesterday. Booo
  9. Geocaching has made me: Poke my fingers in a fire ant hill Poke at wasps nests/ bees nests Touch a cockroach (because i one found a fake palmetto bug cache) Pet a frog (it was real) Touch dog poo (luckily that really was the cache and it was fake) Put my face in a cigarette receptacle Pick up bottle caps Squeeze chewed gum (eww, but I saw this container online) Oh the horrors..
  10. You can select Found or Did Not Find cache from the app. This creates a Field Note on your geocaching.com account. You can then sign into geocaching.com and turn that Field Note into a log. I do this all from my BlackBerry. I use the Bolt browser to access the full GC.com site. I can upload pics this way too! Very handy and I love logging and uploading pics from the field! Getting instant new cache alerts is also a plus when using a smartphone to cache. Check BlackBerry App World for the app.
  11. BlackBerry. The app is a one time fee, not per month. It's usually $19.99 one time. It's on sale for $9.99 right now. Geocache Navigator. There's plenty of free caching apps, such as BlackStar. My BlackBerry Tour GPS is very accurate!
  12. Trimble - Geocache Navigator Application Using Trimble's Geocache Navigator, you can log your Field Notes on the phone and they will show up on this page once you link the phone to your account. Click here to link Trimble's Geocache Navigator to your account. You can find your Geocache Navigator ID number by opening Geocache Navigator and clicking on Settings, then Show my ID.
  13. Thanks for the tip. I'll let future non PM cachers know this if/when they find my PMO cache!
  14. To enter coordinates manually: Open Geocache Navigator Click on Enter Manually Enter Coordinates Press BlackBerry Menu Button (button with 7 dots). Select NEXT If you don't hit the BlackBerry Menu button, then select Next, you will keep getting your current location.
  15. Wow, that it interesting. I'd love to read about and hunt that cache! Please don't censor it for the kids. The parents should do that. I'm not fond of things being "watered down" to protect kids, if that was your question.
  16. That is true. But a Cache Owner can go back and revise their cache pages. I actually wish more COs would do this. Add attributes as they become available and edit cache pages to reflect the current condition of the cache if it's changed dramatically. Maybe because I am new, I seem to hunt for many caches that were place 2-5 years ago. Back then the Terrain may have been a 1.5, but 5 years later it's grown into a 3 or more! I usually just mention that in my found log and I appreciate when either COs update their cache listing or seekers mention it in their logs. I think that's part of being a good CO. But I can understand if someone owns 30+ caches that updating them can be daunting. Maybe even a bushwacking Yes/No attribute.
  17. I would repost: Thank you for bringing me to to this (guardrail, lamppost, utility box, etc) I can see why you were proud of this location. The view of the passing traffic is really neat and is certainly different than it might be just 100ft away. The litter and graphitti are artistically placed. TFTC" LOL! TFTL!
  18. What does being a girl have to do with avoiding 6 inches of water? I would avoid 1 inch of water! You're both girls! I'll carry your purse for you while we cache! Check out my pants after grabbing this cache. Water doesn't bother me. Just boars and bobcats!
  19. That was entertaining. I wish we had a local like that! Be that local. I can't. Anyone calling my hide a lame turd would hurt my feelings! lol. There's no caches around here that have that conversation style note posting in them. I like that!
  20. Agreed! Although when I post a DNF log I'm a bit down that I didn't find it. But when I go back to re-read the DNF (usually after I've found it later) it is pretty funny. I hope at least my DNF pain makes the CO (or other seekers) laugh. Sigh. DNF D1 T1 DNF and got lost
  21. Wow. That seems like an annoying pain it the posterior. Not anymore. I can tell by the content of the log if it's a DNF, note, needs maintain etc.
  22. That was entertaining. I wish we had a local cache like that! Edit to add cache. Meant local cache like that, not CO. The COs here are funny too!
  23. As for the DNF question, I always log a DNF if i looked and did not find. Even if i looked for only 5 minutes. As a CO i know that I like to be alerted of my caches activity, and possible issues.
  24. Any chance you are using a smartphone to cache? The app that I use I can pull up the logs. The notes, needs maintenance , published logs all come up as Did Not Find on the app. Not sure why. So I see a note listed as a DNF, but I realize it now that it's just the app listing it that way. I use a BlackBerry. Might be the same with iPhone and Droid. Just a thought. Example: Here I left a note saying I'm dropping a TB off. On the cache page it's listed as note of course. In the BlackBerry app it shows as a DNF: Reviewer Notes get turned into DNF on the app too: I have left notes for my hides BEFORE the cache was published. In this case, if you use a smartphone to cache, you'll see my note as a DNF before the Published log.
  25. I use my BlackBerry and Geocache Navigator. I put the app on compass mode, walk up to the cache quickly and take a screen shot of the coordinates. I do this three times and then use an average. The three screen shots are always pretty close regarding distance. My hide coordinates seem pretty accurate.
