How do you think I feel!? I'm here pecking away on my BlackBerry! Haha Thanks for the great discussion! It was fun. Hope to see you on the geotrail!

I can be offended by something and still support someone's right to say or do that which offends me. Angry is not the same as offended. I'd say I get "down" or feel a twinge of sadness when someone eats a burger for example. But I don't get angry! That would be a little crazy. They have a right to do so. I have the option to not and live how I think is right.

Well based on your past posts I would say you walk away offended and don't do anything. You're right, I wouldn't take action. You're wrong that I'd be offended. I don't impose my morals on others. I enjoy discussions and debate. I don't get angry though. I just think it's interesting.

If it's allowed in per the guidelines, go right ahead. I'd put it on my ignore list though. I don't support religions and I'm atheist. But I support your right to make a religious cache if it is allowable in the guidelines (which it's not). Religion is very family unfriendly in ny opinion.

That's a very closed minded statement. Alcohol is not an issue in some other countries like it is here in the US. In some other countries children drink wine at dinner. In Amsterdam folks smoke pot in cafes. Not everyone thinks sex is a dirty secret. If you feel geocaching does not align with your value system you are free to not participate or to be more selective in which caches you choose. Geocaching is a global game. My family friendly is very different than your version. It's up to us, as adults, to decide what we participate in. I had a great tee shirt in high school that featured a crowd of people. In the middle, out of thousands, was a man with the caption, "You mean it's NOT all about me." It's not "the world according to chrisy" as much as I'd like that sometimes.

It doesn't. But then, I'm not the one expecting you to limit your activities to suit my moral code. However, you're expecting others to limit their activities to suit your moral code. I am expecting someone not to complain about an individual trying to make sure this place stays family friendly for the masses. They could have done it privately first that is my only beef. And it is not to fit my moral code it is to fit the family friendly code. Please edit your post to replace the word "beef" with a word that I, a vegan, find non offensive. My family is vegan and I come to geocaching expecting it to be family friendly. If you don't edit your post I will report it to a moderator to do so. If that doesn't work, I'm getting PETA (no People Eating jokes) in here. See how that logic works? I see how your logic works. It basically says its all or nothing. In your eyes there is no such thing as family friendly. You say I can say whatever I want as long as it doesn't offend you we are ok. I say family friendly is fairly understood by the masses and just because a few want to push the envelop doesn't mean that it has changed. Sex, drugs, alchohol, and the 7 words as per the FCC is accepted as not family friendly to anyone I know that has kids. Maybe you believe otherwise but I doubt the majority of people with kids believe as you do. That's a very closed minded statement. Alcohol is not an issue in some other countries like it

Hmm, building on that idea... It would be neat to have "culture caches" that involve doing a cache that includes something cultural. Like a nude beach cache in Italy (or wherever that's common). I can't think of any others right now but I will. Could be a cool experience of learning local customs, cultures!
-
As a woman I am offended by that cartoon. As a vegetarian I love it. Oh what to do?! J/P Is there a nude beach cache? I'm pretty reserved myself so don't know if I could do it... but that would be a great challenge cache!
-
I'm very sensitive to poison ivy. I was *not* caching nude...and *that* happened to me! It was ALL over! Terrible.
-
Is he hot? Like Daniel Craig- hot? Does he live in Alabama? *pleasesayyespleasesayyes* People who walk around in the nude aren't usually the sort of people you'd actually like to see walking around in the nude. That's actually true! There's a nude beach near me and that's what I'm told about it. If you need to clean with bleach, go nude. Saves on ruined clothes.

It was the OPs right to take action. I don't think they should have taken any actions. I disagree that the cache should be edited because someone found it offensive. Discussion is good, being forced to comply with others morals isn't good. What if I find a cache listing of yours with any hunting reference? How about a Burger King LPC? Should those be archived because I disagree with hunting and eating burgers?
-
Neither morality trumps. They'll all equally important TO THE PERSON who holds them. That's the point. Take responsibility for your own life, actions and choices and be happy. I can't imagine caching in the nude. The palmettos would be rough. I'd definitely try it though. I think it may be a "bad naked" look though, ha.

I don't want everything child proofed. Parents should monitor their kids if they feel they need to. Or trust the kid, I don't know. I don't have children and I get tired of things being sugar coated for them. It's the parents responsibility, not mine. You chose to have your son and it's not my chore to decide what's right for him. It's yours. If you have to look over his shoulder at what he is doing, that's your job. Not mine to comply with your standards. Caching is family friendly but it's still the parents that decide what they will allow their kids to view. If you, as the adult, find a cache listing offensive you have the option of adding it to your ignore list. Tell your kids to do the same. I find certain things offensive too. Do you eat meat? I find that disgusting and offensive. But I don't go about trying to police anyone's choice to eat meat. I just became vegan. If a cache had an animal skull in it, I'd put that on my ignore list. I wouldn't make the CO change his cache.

Winter and Geocaching Activities
SeekerOfTheWay replied to YooperSnowman's topic in General geocaching topics
Wow, you snow cachers are tough! It's 64 degrees here and I'm all bundled up and whining about how I'm freezing. I don't cache in anything below 69. However, that does mean that I can continue to cache through most of the winter here! -
I think it's just that unless you are around a wheelchair user or in a chair yourself, you do not give it much thought. That's why I think there should be a very clear definition of wheelchair accessible travel paths. I know this is true in my case. I have easy terrain on a few of my caches (wide paths, packed sand or pine needles) but I never rated any a 1 simply because I have NO IDEA what a wheelchair is capable of. Nor do I know the limitations of someone in a wheel chair. I do the same thing with the stroller attribute. I don't use it because how do I know what a stroller can roll over? If a potential wheelchair bound person wanted to know for sure if they could do my caches, I'd email them in detail and send pics of the terrain so they can decide for themselves. I don't feel comfortable making that decision because of my ignorance on the matter.

Now that souvi's are out what is your final opinion.
SeekerOfTheWay replied to Coldgears's topic in General geocaching topics
I have to admit that I ran out after work on 101010 to find a cache so I could get that souvenir for the experience of it. Didn't do anything for me. I liked being part of the record breaking cache day more (did we beat the old record). But I'm not really a collector either. The artwork is nice Now I don't care about them at all. Haven't looked in that tab since 101010. They kinda feel like a made up holiday, like Valentines Day. Just a gimmick that's pretty meaningless in the scheme of the game. -
My longest cache hike so far is only 2 miles RT. Just because there are no longer ones nearby. I'm hiding a cache that's going to be 4 miles RT. It'll be the longest in my town. Hopefully I'll hide one further (6+ miles) when I'm ready to hike alone that far. I still get a little spooked on my own.
-
It would be nice if folks focused on themselves, their activities and morals rather than looking outward at other people's. I'm very big on minding my own business and letting others live how they want. Leave me alone!
-
I'd like a group for geocaching hikers! I cache alone usually and think it would be neat to go on a long hike with a group.
-
That would be neat, thanks. I hide in parks mostly.

The GPS on the BlackBerry just isn't as good as a handheld unit. That's been my experience. As far as using a GPS app with the BlackBerry data connection turned off: I have used BlackStar which is a great free app. You can create Pocket Queries on geocaching.com (PMs only), the attachment comes as an email to your BlackBerry, download the file onto your BlackBerry and then import it into BlackStar. It gives you waypoint details, hints etc. Works great. You can also show all caches on BlackBerry Maps. You can show one cache at a time on Google Maps. With both options you can get turn by turn directions right to the cache. The ability to load PQ and Routes onto BlackStar makes it worthwhile. What's your player name? You can't possibly have no finds. I'd like to look at your real profile.
