Yes, I get that. I'm just saying that his achievement is personal to him. Folks posting think it's cool. But there's really nothing to be congratulated. Nothing was done, except one person fulfilling his need. I know the power trail person wasn't the OP...but I find it odd to post a thread to highlight someone's personal goal. I suppose others caches can "look up" to this person. Just seems trivial. Kind of like if I posted a thread telling everyone I finally figured out how to load PQs. Who cares? Just me. The thread is interesting, though, because of all the discussion about whether it's an achievement or not. Lol.

Personal achievements are just that...personal. No one else cares what anyone else achieved. I think others care about people's achievements only if it helps someone else, or helps many others. So I have to agree here with, so what?

I've driven this highway a time or two before geocaching was around. It's an awesome place and I hope the power trail runners aren't messing it up. When I drive it again, I'll grab one cache. That's my goal. Maybe replace a film can with an ammo can too! I'd just like to see the scenery again.

Yeah, seems to be an issue with 500+ caches. My PQs were both 1000 caches.

The reply in the thread I started about this says that the PQ feature may be busted for searches of over 500 caches. I can't imagine what step I'd be missing because I usually find downloading and saving the PQ easy.

Ok, thanks for the reply. It's been driving me crazy. So the generated PQs usually just automatically move over to the Ready To Download Tab? That's what I thought happened before as I've DL quite a few PQs onto my GPS. But I'm still new to generating PQs. I thought maybe I was missing a step.

Really, having 1000-2000 caches loaded into a GPS is like caching with a smartphone. Storing that many caches cover up to 40 miles around my house. If I'm traveling I just load up another PQ of 1000 caches with my destinations zip code. Takes 2 seconds to do. I still use my BlackBerry to read logs and log my caches. I also use the BlackBerry to get FTFs. You cannot beat the quickness of a smartphone for FTF runs!

Battery consumption. I used my BlackBerry to find over 300 caches. But when I started doing hiking caches I realized I needed a dedicated GPS.

I upgrade my containers. When I get to the geostore and buy ammo cans this week, I'll be replacing some plastic jars I placed with the ammo cans. No problems.

So far the finders seem to think they're rated good. Got good feedback in logs and email. I have to take into consideration the summer months too. The T will be harder because of the heat and the rain will make some flooded trails. So using an average seems correct.

The trackables that come into this town usually have a long stay. Their only way of getting out is at the end of winter, going up north...or a vacationer taking them back home.

I removed the parenthesis. But why else would you want to hide them? I don't hide them so I can read about how everybody is impressed by my creativity (which was the gist of your now deleted parenthetical statement). In fact I don't hide particularly creative caches. I hide them for the enjoyment of others and often because I found a special spot I'd like to share with others. Yes! My first 4 or so hides I tried to make them tricky and clever and I wanted cachers to have to hunt very hard. Was actually looking forward to DNFs. Turns out I'm not that clever because they were all easily found. And I found I did enjoy reading that others had fun finding them. After that I started to realize that I really love the hiking caches or caches in parks so that's what I started to hide. Now I just pluck down as ammo can or large jar, only barely hidden (mugglers) and put it in a place of beauty or interest (like in bamboo). I know how I feel when I get a DNF and I don't want someone not having fun at my caches. There are harder ones out there for those who enjoy those. I want to show finders places in nature that are amazing, like I was shown with certain caches around here.

I like being outdoors. Geocaching adds to that experience. I've discovered so many new parks and neat places since I started caching. Priceless! Also, when I hunt a cache in the wilderness somewhere, it gives me a goal. Then when I find the cache it feels like the CO is there personally greeting me and showing me around! When I get a DNF I feel like the CO doesn't like me! lol So, mostly it's something else to do outside. Finding something does satisfy some need too like another poster mentioned.
