  1. My personal preference would be a [WC] suffix rather than prefix. Will get on it right away! I also support the call for GC.COM to split caches into a provincial level BUT we should perhaps wait and see what becomes of the recent suggestions by senior government officials to consolidate SA into 4 provinces again. Just when you thought things were running smoothly . . . !
  2. Could it be the dreaded Telkom Internet again?
  3. Hi, my name is Goofster and I'm a GAD sufferer. ALL: Hello, Goofster! As a person living with GAD, I often find myself looking at the tops of the tallest mountain peaks and wondering: "Is there a cache up there, and if not, how can I get up there to place a cache?" I've managed to suppress these urges to a large extent, but I have been known to scale minor peaks in order to find/place a cache. It's a terrible affliction, and it has been known to cause my absence from the office at lunch breaks and for extended periods. I'm lucky in that I have a support group who are helping me overcome my addiction. Why, they even took me away with them on the Easter weekend. I only logged 16 caches that weekend (or was it 17?), and that was a huge improvement. Thanks guys!
  4. I don't have a watch on any of yours at the moment, vespax. I will generally place a cache on my watch list once I've found it, but only if I've particularly enjoyed either the hunt or the cache site itself. Every few weeks I do some culling of the list, just to keep my email inbox manageable. I am watching one or two I haven't found yet, though, just to gauge the experiences of other players. P.S. I'm not sure I'm in favour of making the watch lists "public", even if only to the cache/bug/coin owner. A little bit of anonymity adds to the fun of it all!
  5. Don't forget that tomorrow (Sat 14 April) is your last day to indicate whether you will be joining us for breakfast after the clean-up. We will finalise numbers Sunday morning so that we can make a reservation at a suitable eatery. Muffins in Melkbos, maybe?
  6. Auntie cow of cownchicken will look into that, see what their prices are, etc. We've also had another prize donation: a map of your choice from GPSTravelMaps.com, courtesy vespax. Thanks, dude!
  7. I can confirm that Telkom Internet treats email from geocaching.com as unsolicited spam and blocks delivery. I had the same problem early last year, and requests to Telkom to unblock the site were ignored. I changed to a gmail address and haven't had a missed email since.
  8. Sadly, there were no koeksusters in Klawer, but we had a great breakfast anyway. We saw a great many things on our journey, but some of them we cannot reveal in public forums.
  9. Don't worry, cownchicken, we will have koeksusters in Klawer! Enjoy the pancakes, everybody!
  10. Hehe! I would if I could, guys, but Uncle Trevor (or is it Uncle Alec?) frowns upon the discounting of petrol. Employees of financial institutions get all sorts of perks, but do you think we're allowed to even give away those little plastic valve caps? Not a chance!
  11. To get the ball rolling, I will be donating a 'limited edition' Engen-branded stainless steel, double-walled, foam-insulated travel mug (0.24l) for the lucky draw prize. Any other offers of goodies will be welcomed. We are also looking at a more cost-effective venue for the breakfast. While Ons Huisie is very classy, so are its prices. Keep your eyes on the cache listing for more details.
  12. The reports have been carried on radio (KFM) and the newspapers (Argus).
  13. I'm prepared to help you out, as long as the administration is not too complicated!
  14. A warning to all geocachers in the Western Cape - there have been reports of armed muggings in Silvermine east of Ou Kaapse Weg in the past few weeks. Exercise caution when operating in this area! There are still some caches in this area that I would like to seek, but I'll wait for a large party to get together before attempting them.
  15. It was great to see you again, Larks. All the best for your ventures in Gauteng!
  16. Western Cape geocachers, and others who might be prepared to 'go the distance', please take note of the upcoming CITO event on 21 April 2007. Breakfast bookings need to be made by 14 April (and this will be for your account - unfortunately CnC and I cannot treat everyone to a breakfast meal!) And if anyone can donate prizes (in any form) for a lucky draw, we'll love you to bits for it!
  17. Which reminds me: I've sent a number of emails requesting a logon password, to no avail. Is it gonna happen?
  18. Not sure how the plans are progressing up in Gauteng for a CITO event on 14 April, but my 2006 CITO Geocoin is in the Klerksdorp Cache - if any kind soul passing through could pick it up and take it into Gauteng for the event I'd be much obliged. I know it's a long journey though.
  19. Serves me right for not keeping an eye on the forums - I missed breakfast! But I did meet F of QFC at Milnerton Station yesterday morning, so all was not lost. Nice to finally meet you, dude! Hope you had a fruitful day of cache hunting.
  20. Did someone say beer?? I'm there! It will be good to see you again, Larks! Mitchells Brewery?
  21. This coming Sunday afternoon (4 March) I will be at 16 Saldanha Road, Impala Park, Boksburg (sorry, I don't have the coordinates on me at the moment). If a local geocacher is willing to pop around, I have two geocoins they can grab from me. One of them (Goofster's 2006 CITO Geocoin) wants to attend the Gauteng event this year. Post a reply here if you're keen, and contact me on 082-771-1064. You can also 'discover' my other two coins, which are not travelling just yet . . . Don't all rush now . . . .
  22. Tempting, but I have commitments on Saturday, and on Sunday I fly up to Johannesburg en route to Klerksdorp. I will be doing a site visit about 2.4km from the only cache in Klerksdorp, so I'll see if I can tempt my colleagues into making a detour for me. Enjoy the hike, I'll join you next time.
  23. And you'll drop a ladder so that folks can grab the infamous B&F Paddle Cache on the way back, assuming it's still there?
  24. Why I love Tricky Vicky & Micky? For that awesome chocolate sauce, of course!!
