Well done BUSHPIGS on your 100!! (I got it right this time!) It looks like you had a good time on your Aus. holiday.
  2. I have downloaded and intalled GpxSonar on my iPAQ and it is great. (and it is free). Its functions are similar to GSAK and it has the capacity to store your own logs, TBs etc. It stores as many geocaches as you like (as downloaded in a pocket query in GPX format) and makes searching, sorting and filtering easy. I use SmartGPX for my Nokia mobile phone, which also works well, but is not as good as GpxSonar. I have not used cachemate, so can not comment on that. I know that does not answer your question, but that is my experience after a bit of research!
  3. Would this not be more appropriate as a Benchmark, rather than a cache? Benchmarking has not seemed to have taken off in SA though.

    I spy

Morning bear&fox, we see you too.
  5. Great letter, thanks for the effort guys!!!! Perhaps sending it in PDF format may be a better option for those with dial-up and limited mailbox size.
  6. I don't use navigation software on my phone for navigation. I only use the phone for the data, and use my Garmin 60SC for the navigation. Get that Premium Membership, its the right thing to do!!!
  7. I came across this site www.smartcaching.de, which has downloads for various Symbian mobile phones to view pocket queries (GPX files) off line. I have installed it on my Nokia N73 and it works great! There is no need to print out cache descriptions and hints any more and it is easier to sort and find caches than using mobipocket. It only seems to handle 150 caches per GPX file, so I had to create a 4 GPX files in GSAK to be able to view all 500 caches from my weekly pocket query. Now we just need a break in this wet Cape Town weather, so we can check it out in the field.

Lets not forget Vespax. Congratulations on your 400 Vespax!!
  9. Thanks for thinking about our race TB. It was retrieved from 7 Castle Hill by the cache owner about 2 weeks ago. It is now sitting in St Blaize in Mossel bay, so if you are heading in that direction........
  10. Great idea Discombob , you can count us in. We should be around. No bright ideas about a venue, but will give it some thought.

Congratulations to Global Rat on your 800th Congratulations to TVM on your 1000th May you both have fun finding many more!
  12. Great!! I do note that it only indicates 3 finds to your name, you said that you had 4. Its a pity that you did not find "In No 7 Castle Hill" cache (GC10JAT) as it contains a certain race TB that would have love to be moved along.
  13. Our logs are displayed immediately, we have never had to wait. I clicked on your profile and see that none of your logs are there, strange. I see you were logged onto the site yesterday. Silly question: Did you submit your logs? It then goes to your submitted log and you can read your entry as others would see it.
  14. We have to agree with you about TVM's cooking !! Unfortunately we will not be able to make New York Bagles or Greyton bowling green as we are off to Simonskloof to spend a weekend with Matata.
  15. Hey Vespax!! You can count us in for the free boat ride, the free GPSr, the free lunch and we'll help with the Robben Island cleanup too.

Congratulations to Crystal Fairy on their 500. It was great to meet you guys in December Your event cache sounds awesome, how can we get you to set one up in Cape Town?
  17. How and how many points are allocated for the abovementioned achievements? Where is the finish.
  18. 2202 emailed me today to say that he is now on 595 caches and is on track to make the event cache his 600th
  19. Thanks for your replies. I was talking to a Canadian cacher at an event cache and he suggested that I try CacheMate or GpxSonar. I have downloaded and intalled GpxSonar on my iPAQ and it is great. Its functions are similar to GSAK and it has the capacity to store your own logs, TBs etc. It stores as many geocaches as you like (as downloaded in a pocket query in GPX format) and makes searching, sorting and filtering a lot easier than Mobipocket or using HTML's. This is the answer to paperless caching !!
  20. The event cache is arranged for 11 February at 18h30 and is called Signal Hill Sun Downer
  21. We received Deqing, China in the post yesterday "Deqing China" Unite for Diabetes Travel Bug
