  1. Kind of clashes with the color scheme IMHO. The new icons don't seem to jump out at my right away as to what kind of cache I'm seeing. Maybe it's my eyes and being late. Disney or not the other were more bold. -beatnik-
  2. quote:Originally posted by Stunod:Can't you still use it the way you intend, even though it is archived? Anyone who is on the watch list will still get notified via email. Yes, but how would new geocachers ever find out there is a local group meeting? They wouldn't ever see the cache page unless someone pointed it out. Wich kind of defeats the purpose. -beatnik-
  3. I don't condone that and I don't do it myself. You'll find multiple attendences for me for me on the Oklahoma City meeting page. They use the same setup for meetings. Only the first one was logged as a find. All others are posted as notes for me. If others want to log multiple finds I can't stop them since I don't have the power to change logs. I guess I could have hidden 19 event caches if I really wanted to pad stats. The meetings are not semi-regular either. They have been going for 19 months straight. The location changes from time to time as well. Unless there is a big event then there is no meeting. Like last month when I spent 6 months planning an event. I think I am allowed to take one month off instead of having another meeting the following weekend. This is the best and only method for me to let people know about monthly meetings. Personally I don't see what the problem is. -beatnik-
  4. Could one of the friendly admin's around here please unarchive my cache. While bringing up the subject shouldn't the admin's ask before archiving a cache? Someone out of state who has never even been to one of our meetings suggested that I archive the cache. Nevermind that he didn't ask me first. Then without warning mtn-man archives it. That's not a very good practice in my opinion. I've been using the same cache page for the last 19 months worth of meetings. There is no need to make a new one for every monthly meeting. That way those that watch the cache are automatically informed each month. When I update I post a note to inform everyone. I would prefer not to have a ton of archived meetings. The only reason it's 38 days old is because we didn't have an October meeting due to a state wide event. I have one other event page that I will be archiving soon as I have done with my other event caches and CITO cache. If any event caches should be archived it's these. GCCEF4 GCDB24 GCDB5A GC80C3 not mine. -beatnik-

I've even seen threads were everyone on the page was listed a zero posts. Like this one. Maybe it's another attmept to eliminate stats and competition. ducking for 's -beatnik-
  6. quote:Originally posted by ClayJar:For the first part, you're asking if you can select and print multiple cache pages right from the list? That was mentioned by someone as a possible Watcher feature a long time ago, but nobody seemed to want it. It might be interesting to think about adding something like that to Watcher. (Drop by the geocaching chats sometime; it'd be an interesting thing to discuss.) No one wanted it? I sure would like it! I often use watcher to print cache pages. They come out cleaner for me than printing them from gc.com. Not to mention the hassle of clicking and waiting for pages to load while online. Printed about 10-15 pages today from watcher. I was begging for a feature to print all of them without going to each one when I did 30-40 recently. I do this often before taking a long trip out of town. -beatnik-

  11. Oklahoma - Where Eagles Roost placed 2/11/2001 I believe this is the first and still existing cache in the state.
  12. Hmmmm? My sig total says 59 (as of this posting) My rank on keenpeople says I'm 68? Maybe the sig data is only updated once a day.
  13. quote:Originally posted by hikemeister:I'm not sure how this can work -- the only way stats (most found in Florida, for example) would make any sense is if they really reflected the entire Florida geocaching community. So right now, I'm #6 in the state -- wow! with only 58 caches found. Oh yes, only seven people from Florida are registered on the site. How is the word going to get out to ALL geocachers, which is necessary to make the stats meaningful -- certainly CG.com is not going to send out an email to all of its members suggesting they register on this site. Frankly, the only way this can be done in that manner is if GC.com develops their own stats, and has them linked directly to those registered on THIS site. The best way is to let your friends know about it. Does it have to make sense to everyone? I'm really only interested in comparing with people I know. Since it's opt-in that makes it better for those that have no interest. My state only had 1 person two days ago which was me. Now there are 7 because I took the time to let people know. Not everyone reads the forums so you have to get the word out in other ways. There were three icons on the state page 2 days ago including mine. Now there are 9. Not to mention 40 new people in the last day. The stats page is very new and being developed still. Give it time and people that want to use it will. The more people that use it (primarily paying members) the more likely that Jeremy will be willing to create something here. If not people will continue to drift away, because the issue obviously isn't dying.
  14. quote:Originally posted by Bull Moose:It's fun to watch how many people are signing up for the Keenpeople.com stats tracking by watching how far my ranking falls between each time I come to the forum. I think I started out as something like #90 overall, as of this writing I'm down to #165. Which is still pretty high for a paltry 107 finds. Come on people, let's see how low we can get my overall ranking! http://www.keenpeople.com/stats/ I was in the top 10 to start but that faded very quickly. Oh well. I couldn't hope to be at the level as those in more cache rich areas. I am looking forward to the state stats that are being worked on right now.
  15. That would be SweeT47, Darkmoon, and Missouri Okie in order listed in that article. I'm still haunted by the cache from Darkmoon Laboratories that was unveiled or should I saw "spawned" at Fall Fest. -beatnik-
  16. quote:Originally posted by Rayman2003:Does anyone know the policy at the Oklahoma State Resort Park Robbers Cave on placing geocaches? I'm going there this weekend and noticed there are no caches there. I would like to place one. Check out my TAG webpage. Check the links at the top for state parks policy. Since you are from Texas (well at least most of your logs are from Texas) you might have more trouble getting it approved from the approvers than the park staff however. You might set up an agreement with the park officials to "watch" the cache and maintain it if needed to east getting approval. For the most part I have found that talking to the park naturalist is your best bet. The two weeks rule isn't set in stone. The park officials are usually busy with many other issues while the naturalist can tell you where and more important, where NOT, to put a cache. Most of them are really cool and will work with you. I have not, however, talked to the officials for Robber's Cave. Lastly, if you are going to hide a cache in an Oklahoma State Park I encourage you to make it a Discover Oklahoma cache. It is a joint effort to encourage park use in Oklahoma. I have one that is a virtual however, due to sensitive archeological sites. Let me know how it goes, I'll be glad to visit it. (it may be a few months however) I've been hoping to get more caches in SE Oklahoma. I've placed a few trying to get people active. We are really in need of local cachers to populate that area. Every new one helps. -beatnik-

It was brought up in high school by at least two guys but only one ever followed through. Hope he never goes to prison. -beatnik-
  19. If you want a tattoo do some research. Hosestly you are better off thinking about it for awhile before doing it. The first thing that comes to mind is not always the best idea. I would never get a tattoo of any famous person, character, or company logo. Of course that is just me. I've seen people with sports stars and actors or musicians on them. Imagine the guy that got and OJ tattoo. Do you really want the same tattoo as 200 other people that picked something they thought was cool off a flash sheet. There were a lot of bands I once liked that I'm glad I didn't get tattooed on me. I hope no one ever got an Enron tattoo. I waited until I was 27 to get mine. It is this symbol on my right calf. My wife has a tribal dolpin on her back that we got in Hawaii. She wanted it since highschool but waited until after our wedding to get it. Well a few days after the wedding anyway. Her mothers wish for our wedding photos sake. I thought for many years about mine before I finally got it. Too bad I live in an oppressive state where I can't get another one without having to spend the day driving out of state. I'd probably have the rest I want if it wasn't such a pain to get the one I have. -beatnik-

  22. All the people that just started eating at the diner can't get enough of the really good burgers. They claim how good the burgers are. What's wrong with the burgers they say, if you don't like the burgers then you should just leave and go find other burgers. The old codgers in the corner just shake their heads and agree, yes the burgers are really good. We just wish they hadn't taken the steak off the menu. We liked it when the cook came to ask us how our meal was and thanked us for getting the word out about his new resturant. Since his burgers are better than the other burgers we continue to eat them. -beatnik-
