  1. Sure, as long as each person who takes something leaves something else. Cache owners like it when the contents of the cache are refreshed. The only trouble is finding enough swag. My supplies are dwindling from my last few trips with the family.

  2. Congrats on your first find. After you submit your log, you will have the option of editing it or uploading images. If you took pictures to go with your story, post them on the log. Cache owners like pictures.

  3. the tricky part i think is getting greek to show up on a Groundspeak page so people who have not downloaded the packs can read the pages. i'm not sure how users of other alphabets do this on this site.

which alphabets does Groundspeak support? i'd like to think that as a major governing body of a worldwide sport that world languages are largely supported. that'd be cool.

Well, I would think that if people just wanted to view the log without downloading the packs, an image of the log should be made available. Not many people are going to be editing the greek, so we should have a jpg or gif alongside the actual document.

Heading out the door with my Palm 21 & Garmin 60csx

Well, since I am a computer nerd, I have no problems.

  5. i'm just guessing here, but i'll bet you this user's greek is pretty good. i'm assuming the problem is with whether or not the site accepts the greek characters in the description. if the greek folks don't have a solution, you might ask the russian speaking folks. or arabic. someone out there has done work with cache descriptions in other alphabets besides english.

The greek language packs are available on the internet. Word detects which pack it needs and downloads it, but people might have problems with the txt or rtf.

  6. Hey all,

Does anyone know anything about the Palm Treo 700p for paperless caching? Just wondering if all the same apps can be used as the Tungsten or TX. Thanks

Do you have GPS enabled on it?

  7. Just something I noted on the website - the icon used for attribute "Needs Maintenance" on cache details pages is not actually a first aid sign (red cross on white ground, or white cross on green ground) sign but the Swiss flag (white cross on red ground) :P - being from Switzerland this quite confuses me :P

I seem to remember a discussion about this issue once. I think the reason given for not using the red cross on a white background for "Needs Maintenance" had to do with potential legal issues related to the use of an icon owned by the American Red Cross.

We should use the green cross. This is geocaching, after all.

Edit: Green on white. Is that taken?
