  1. IF the postmaster approves officially, it could be fun. Personally, I'd make it an off-set/puzzle. Visit the PO to get some information to derive the co-ordinates for the actual container placed somewhere less provocative. thats a good idea
  2. Well ask the postmaster. It can't hurt, worst thing that can happen is he says no. If he says yes you're best off getting an e-mail or a letter from him on USPS stationery so you can provide proof of permission to your reviewer. ok ill do it next time i get a chance to get out there. and who knows i may see some place else near but not on the property that works better and has less red tape.
  3. I found a letterbox once looking for a geocache, they were litterally 5 ft from each other, and my gpsr smartphone had me 30 ft off, so i was looking all over the place and stumbled upon the letterbox first, went to sign it, and had i not been reading the forums i would have never known the stamp wasnt swag, and this was actually a letterbox, Ive found broken and/or abandon caches in places i wanted to hide a cache, but my reviewer is excellent at letting me know if my cache is too close to another its usually the first note he writes me back after i submit my cache, which is very helpful. If you havent heard from your reviewer yet, when did you submit it? the few i have dealt with have been very prompt in responding.
  4. The reason being, there is a small town near here called Christmas. Christmas, FL, and they have a post office that has a small museum, as parents used to drive from all over the place to mail letters to their kids from Christmas, Florida, stamped by santa clause himself, and I wanted to hide a christmas themed cache (of which i dont think there are even any caches in christmas yet period) in on or somewhere near the post office to showcase it, but i wasnt sure about the rule on such a thing. This is probably the smallest post office i have ever seen, and by far the coolest people work here, they get dressed up in costume around chirstmas time, and the town is decked out in christmas decorations year round, course the town is like a one blinking yellow light town, with a gas station fire station poliece station, city hall all in the same building, and no grocery store.
  5. Whoops, I think I accidentally saved ashnikes from geocide. You are welcome everyone! No, but seriously, Ashnikes, that cache was a lot of fun and creative. Those are the kind of caches I enjoy finding and doing. It told a fun little story. I'm glad you enjoyed my log. I was actually planning on hitting up your Rollins caches at some point if I ever happen to be over on that side of town. Sorry to hear about your ex, but it always gets better with time. You know how it goes. I can see how it would be rough to cache in the area and keep seeing her name, but why not flip it around? Geocache way harder than her so she has to see YOUR name whenever she wants to cache. To me, no girl can be better than finding useless stuff in the woods right? If you ever want to go on a FTF adventure or notice a really interesting cache you haven't done in the area, hit me up. I'm trying to eventually work up to doing all the caches to fill in the WRC grid, but I don't know how much you like the bushwacking caches or not. Glad to see that you decided to stick around since I don't want that particular cache to get archived. At least figure out a way to waterproof that cache and put the logbook in a bigger bag though Also what is the problem with caching alone? I love exploring random places by myself. I'm only going to bother making sure I have a partner for stuff that is like 3+ terrain or greater. I feel like doing those ones alone might be a bad idea. Like to me, what is the point of doing a 1/1 PnG with two people? I mean how hard can it be to figure out which light pole has the cache when you have 2 gps? Hahahaha perhaps, I came up with three more very interesting hides coming your way soon, one is going to be in vietown on 50 near mills, if you know where thats at, one is going to be a luau in the middle of a small patch of woods, and one is in the works of being published at the fleet peoples dog park in baldwin park, the reviewer bless his heart is waiting on me to stop being so dramatic to publish it, Ide love to go out with you guys, that would be great, and i agree bushwhacking in the swampy back woods of florida can be a bad idea alone, theres one in orange city where i used to live way back in the woods i want to find, but its apparently almost all bushwhacking and not recommended in the summer, so im determined to do it in the summer. just need a machete or three.
  6. so what number out of 10 does that make me then now? do i win?
  7. Whats the rule on hiding a cache on the outside of a post office i if get permission from the managers?
  8. Hmm.... I will leave it up, and see what happens, ill weather"proof" it with some campdry, but who knows, ill keep an eye out for something else, if it fails, i also like the idea of dressing an ammo can with fur, but then i still have the fur issue, this is florida remember, one of the wettest states around,
  9. Im trying here, but ive got several things against me, first off, im a guy, so 99% of what i say and believe is probably stretching the truth, if not total out right bull. this also means i have a flaming desire to fix stuff, in this case a game of geocaching. second, im young, 26 to be exact, therefore im not wise yet right? nuff said. third, outside forces take adverse effects on my mental stability, and i take no precautions, i tend to enjoy the ride with my hands out of the coaster, this is by far my biggest flaw. some days i have a bad attitude, some days i have a great one, dont we all though? and as far as events, i just got invited to one, oddly enough it was sugested to me in the same sentence as mentioning my ex would be there, unknowlingly to the person who sugested it she was my ex. Well... i think ill pass on that one, which is unfortunate, because apparently there was a geocacher (get this) who i offended with one of my rants some place or another, and he will be there, and wanted to meet me, him and his good friend. I would have loved to meet them, but after all this forum stuff, i doubt i could face her, she would probably beat me up. alls fair i suppose, maybe ill flip a quarter, cause ide like to go to an event, but i dont want to run into her,
  10. hmmm well we shall see how it holds up, and im thinking maybe ill just cut the zipper out, that way i dont have to deal with it, if it doesnt last a month here, ill change it to something more durable.
  11. hahaha you guys have way too much tie on your hands.
  12. So I had this idea to use a stuffed animal backpack as the cache, i have a weatherproof container inside the bag holding swag and the log book, but the animal is exposed almost entirely to the elements in a tree cavity, the animal is typical faux fur, and has a metal zipper, coated with what appears to be some sort of rustproof paint. My question then is, what can i do to keep or at least prolong the life of this furry animal, prevent mold, and keep it in decent shape for a while, as im sure it will have to be replaced in the future with another one, but i dont want to have to replace it weekly, any suggestions?
  13. I dont have time at the mo0ment to read everyones responses, I just had a few things to mention... Once again it has been a very atypical day for me, story of my life. I had a really great idea for my next hide, in the local china town around here, so keep an eye out, i got one in the works for getting approved, (once i settle this rant business) its out and ready to go, just has to be official that I am not leaving the game. (i told you so's insert here) I have decided to not leave geocaching, especially not over a girl, its just a minor setback i guess. The main reason for this decision, the last three logs left by complete strangers, who probably never frequent the forums, that were left on some of my caches. They were absolutely thrilled to find my caches, they really enjoyed them. They wrote beautiful log entries, for which i will be emailing them thanking them for such when i get back in tonight, it dawned on me how my ideas all my life of leaving trinkets, prizes, and random stuff for complete strangers IS geocaching! I just have to abide by the international rules of the official game if i want more than a few people to find these treasures. Which I intend to. Some weird revelation, but I thought to myself, you know I just made several peoples day, by what? leaving some treasure in the woods near my house, and telling them about it indirectly? How easy was that? I like making people happy. contrary to popular belief, especially little kids, i mean how cool is it to see a little kids face light up when they find a pirate ship as big as theyre arms reach filled to the brim with pirates, and pearls guarding a 10 gallon cooler filled with all sorts of rad treasure, in a trail laden toy junk yard? If i were a kid i would drool a little bit. you dont even really need a gps once you enter the trails to find the cache. I have so far made all my caches family friendly, and i intend to continue that, because i feel if you enjoy it, and you have a family, at least you can take them out and hope they enjoy it too, im trying to provide you and your family an oppertunity to find some really fun generally very easy caches. I dont like DNF's on my cache page, i want people to find them. i love hiding caches, i really love it, finding them is ok i gues,s when they are rad, but hiding caches is the fun of this game for me now, and getting awesome logs like i have been the past few days really shows the true spirit of geocachers. you guys really are very considerate, fun loving, enjoy the small things kindof people, and i just wanted to say thank you, thanks to the people who have been leaving such nice comments on my cache logs, thanks to the forum members who put up with my bad day rants, and thanks to everyone who sees through the bull.... you guys are my (sad as it sounds) only real friends at the moment, due to my explosive dramatic nature, i tend to scare people away, including girlfriends, which i always regret, i dont know what to do about it, it runs in my family, i generally just avoid people all together, but that gets old some times you know? well again, i know i said a bunch of bad things, in anger, and heartbreak, le sigh, but i dont think i can leave geocaching, its just way too rewarding in a healthy way, so be on the lookout for some really bizare and creative LARGE caches in the area soon. I hope you enjoy the ones i have up at the moment, and you enjoy the ones ive got planed, and not yet planned in the future.
  14. Yeah youre right brslk, you and the majority of people who post on this forum have already made me feel lots better about the whole situation. I guess The Blorenges is right, geocaching is kindof like the hotel california, I just need to get out of orlando and do it. then i wont have a problem.
  15. Yeah, dont worry chaos crew, I will leave my caches up, I may hide a few more, but I just need a break from the game for a while like suggested.
  16. Yes, Groundspeak does provide them with a free Premium membership in exchange for their fine services. It appears I have been MISINFORMED!! New excuse: I just don't have the money but wait this information is conflicting, didnt a few other people say Groundspeak could not give them a premium membership as that would be a form of payment and therefore would not make them volunteers?
  17. aww bloody hell, youre deffinately an older wise woman, whose probably single, do you read fortunes as well? yes this whole overdramatic rant was 98% spawned because of her, and finding out she has been caching with other guys, who ironically enough invited me to their geo event in august, and mentioned she was going to be there, not the way to get me to an event, for future reference. but i didnt put two and two together until today, when i came across a log she signed, and signed for like three guys who she was caching with, talk about a heart crusher, le sigh. but all the other reasons i mentioned hold some merrit as well, just none were enough to quit, as far as leaving the forums, i guess i should huh, since i cause so much trouble here.
  18. thanks for the advice, i do actually like my caches, and some people have really liked them as well, maybe ill just leave them active, and call everything else quits for a while like you suggested. I would love to hike and cache on more scenic parts of the country, ill be heading out to the smokey mts and or the red sand desert in a few months, so who knows, i definitely wont find a signature form her on there.
  19. youre right, i confess, it was about the girl, all that other stuff was just to get people to respond, im a forum troll. and it worked!
  20. Was this your two week's notice? 'Cause that really is not necessary in a forum. ha! one weeks notice, in forums you dont need to give two. and i think i said that a few times above, we both need fresh jokes, dog.
  21. Its official, you are a woman, an older one, a wise one, but not entirely correct. There were many things listed, although she is a very big factor yes. but not the whole reason.
