  1. I would quit in protest, but I did that once, and realized I had nothing to do in my spare time.
  2. So.... I tend to annoy people when I post about a topic i want to hear responses from, that apparently has been brought up numerous times. so this thread is dedicated to those topics that really annoy the forum frequents. ill start it... the following topics have been discussed more times than we all care to remember.... 1) I HATE MICROS!!!! 2) Bring Back Virtual caches so I can hide caches every 2 ft if I want to, cause im lame, and want to claim I hid something, when really i didnt. 3) How stinking long will it take the lame reviewers to approve my cache, its been like 35 minutes already! 4) There have been so many threads dedicated to frequently asked questions, here's one more! your turn.
  3. ok but how did they get approved in the first place, except like brslk mentioned them being soooo far away and tough to get to they are more like a novelty item than a real cache.
  4. bahahahahahaha ahad i been drinking soda it would of come out my nose.
  5. Ah but mother nature will destroy these caches, and they will require maintenance.
  6. How do caches placed way out in the middle of nowhere get approved, like the space station cache, or that cache where you need an armed escort through the desert, and it lives inside an active volcano? are these caches not "vacation caches" in that they were placed by the cache owner who visited the place once, and will have a very hard time getting back to it to perform maintenance?
  7. Cache owners, do you check or even care if people who find your cache, or dont find your cache sign the physical logs or not? and what do you do with your full logs when there is no room left for new signatures? i personally couldnt care less about people signing the physical log or not, if they find it thats all that matters to me. i wont ever check my logs to see if someone actually was there or not, because what does your post count really matter? If you didnt find my cache, the only person who cares is you. however, if you are logging a dnf, because you couldnt find the container, and want me to make sure it is still there, that IS important to me, because although you didnt sign the log, i dont want to prevent the next cacher from finding the cache.
  8. hahaha solar system caches, appropriate distances apart, this idea only reminds me how nerdy geocaching really is.
  9. speaking of rust, anyone own a cache on the beach? or one in the north where road salt tends to collect? how do you keep your caches in good shape in those enviornments? water is one thing, but mix water with salt, and you get some seriously bad cache container environments. Does salt water affect hard plastics like a lock and lock? and does it affect the seals at all?
  10. any font color in red highlight is bad in my opinion, it is really hard to read, but other than that the dogs breakfast one looks great! and the second one you listed. el georado looks really cool!
  11. course in the end, no cache hide is worth the hassle of a back and forth battle, you can im sure always find a place to hide it near the track, and post about the track in the cache page, but not actually hide the cache on the race tracks property. im sure there is at least one place in the vacinity that would be accessable 24/7 that is close enough to the track to get your point across, but far enough away that no one is worrying about the insurance nightmares, or afterhours curefues.
  12. So hiding caches recently got me thinking, what else have I hidden for people to find besides geocaches? sure there are waymarks, letterboxes, and earth caches, but, i mean way outside the game of geocaching. for example. i like to "hide" missed connections ads on craigslist for people I see throughout the day I feel like could use a positive pick me up. So far, I have never heard back from any of them, but I sure hear from a lot of people who want to be them. Either way, this is a fun thing to do, and requires all of the same things geocaching requires just being used in a different manner.... I am spotting a place for a good hide, but in this case, I am spotting a person, and not a place, still a noun. then i use the powers of the internet, through a fairly public, yet fairly moderately used website to post about said place, or in this case person, in hopes either the said person will find the ad, or someone who knows the person can show it to them. anyone else do some sort of hide in this fashion outside the game of geocaching? or am i just a weird stalker?
  13. I think one thing you can do, is make the cache, then take the physical cache in to the owner / property manager, and show them what it is, and then drag them out to where you want to hide the cache, and show them what it will look like hidden. Then explain to them, that although it may get a handfull of visitors the first day it is published, after that, it may only get one group or less looking for it a month afterwords. this is a very low traffic sport, and most cachers take great pride in respecting the environment. also inform them it will only increase the advertising for the business (even though indirectly0 people will be coming form all over to visit the establishment looking for the cache, and may wander over to patronize the business. this usually does the trick for me, you can email them and even call them back and forth all day long, but until you actually show them what you are doing, and with what you are doing it with, they just will not understand. I think once they see the object you are hiding, they will drop the insurance jargon. my two cents.
  14. but why would someone want to know who is watching a cache? what are the reasons? well.... I would be curious as to what interests them so much in my caches they have chosen to receive status updates, I may also offer them the opportunity to become the new owner of the caches if they love them enough. I think sharing your cache with someone who loves it would be a great thing.
  15. sounds like fun, but I would suggest not placing the waypoints for the dwarfs too physically far away from one another, or you will not get a lot of people interested in looking for the final stage cache. Course you can do what you want, you can make them hundreds of miles apart if you want, but the further apart you make them the less activity you will get at this cache. I dont think Disney would mind, as you are not making any money off of this cache, and only in fact Groundspeak is, with the advertizing on the cache page. but they are not you, and therefore you are a non-profit so to speak, so dont worry about the name. if your reviewer questions you, then you might have a problem, but i dont see it as a big deal. I think if the caches are hidden in like say lawn knomes this would be a really fun cache. give us some more details. and remember, this would be more like both a multi and a puzzle. this also lowers the amount of activity on your cache. it seems people more and more want to do less and less for a smiley.
  16. Vacation, all I ever wanted.... I should have clarified... His say is the rule on this site. Therefore, I dont care, because his opinion IS the rule, and I have to comply regardless of whether I agree or not. It's tough to care, when you HAVE to comply. Second, I seriously doubt Jeremy will ever find, or secretly watch any of my hides, nore would he ever care enough about little old me, and my nagging questions on these forums to respond to this thread. and therefore his opinion does not matter to me. Especially when he has already made his opinion known, and I have dogs with glasses who can quote him for me. third, my question was geared towards those people who are watching my hides, or who watch hides in general. I wanted to know form them, if they even cared if that privilege was made public, or not, and why they chose to watch hides in the first place. hope that clarifies things a bit. Nice backpedaling... I knew what you meant. hahahaha you jerk.
  17. what about CO's that put call me for help, and leave their phone number? Ive seen that a few times. Has anyone on the forums left their phone number on a stage of the cache? or on the cache page? how did it work out for you?

  19. Its possible, I could have taken this image into photoshop, and cropped the names off the images, but then it really would have been an issue, this way the name of the image owner is still attached ot the image and credit is given. course there is no profit being made off this image, (save for Groundspeak putting ads on the cache page) but I personally am not making any money off the image, so I do not see it being an issue.
  20. Well... I was more curious as to the people who watch hides, why they watch them. and IF they wanted to watch them in private, what those reasons are, i could care less what jeremy wants or thinks.
  21. but why would someone want to watch a cache in privacy? what are the reasons?
  22. there is a lot going on on that cache page sure, but it is all very subtle colors, easy on the eyes, and the images help to break up the tons of txt. I dont think it is too much, and i think i liked the dogs advice, and will change the page back to just one image, cause the three of them are anoying or at least ill compromise and take the baby out. cause i dont like that one as much.
  23. Well... I think a lot of the people watching my caches are local, but who knows. I know one guy is watching my multi because it used to be his favorite watering hol,e but when I asked him about it, he still hasnt replied. Who knows.
