  1. Wouldn't it be better to fix the problem instead of take away the feature? This was a feature I used when finding puzzle caches, because I could put in the puzzle solution coords and the show marker would point to where the puzzle cache really was. Is there any plan to actuall fix it and bring this feature back?
  2. This whole thread is somewhat invalid. To impede logging abuse means you have to have logging abuse, but logging event caches is clearly not logging abuse. While temporary in nature, they are real caches that people find. People logging caches that they didn't find would be logging abuse, but I don't hear that being talked about here. This appears to be an attempt to cause problems for others on the site by a few people making a big deal about a non-problem.
  3. Thanks for the info. I hope it was just a glitch and that I never see them again.
  4. Yes. It doesn't happen all the time, but just every once in a while. It said something about Google Ads, but the products being advertised were GPS related.
  5. I recently noticed that some of the ads that show up in GC.COM are showing up horizontally across the page in the middle of the lists of caches. This is extremely annoying and makes me less likely to purchase anything from anyone advertising in this way. If there is some way that this could be stopped, it would be very much appreciated.
  6. Putting time limits on how often you can log does not make much sense to me, unless you are just trying to impede the game and be a nuisance. If logging events multiple times due to temporary event caches is such a problem, why not create a new temporary event cache type so we can have unique cache ids for these caches. I definitely think they should be allowed to be logged. Many of them I have found have been quite challenging and much better than some of the permanent caches, such as caches placed in lightpoles or on guard rails. If the concern is that they clutter up the cache page lists, then require the owner to enter an expiration date when the cache will no longer be available and it could just automatically archive itself at that time.
  7. I usually use the maps to go to a specific waypoint, generally a puzzle cache that has been figured out, and that shows where it is in relation to other caches in the area. This still works sort of. It still will bring up the map, but there used to be a box you could click that put a pin on the map where the reference point was (in my case, the puzzle cache). I might be missing something, but I have not been able to get the reference point pin to show up on the new version of the maps. The map is definitely less useful if we can't put the reference point on it.
  8. I'm not sure if this has been mentioned anywhere else or not, but I couldn't find a topic for it. I noticed that the state maps that are linked to at the top of each state page are not working correctly. They will not let you identify the caches you are looking at. To get the error: 1. Choose a state from the main geocaching page under 'Search for Caches ...' . 2. Click on MAP at the top of the page. 3. The map displays, but there are error at the bottom of the page: 4. If you wish to zoom in and identify any caches, the identity appears on the map, but you still get the error at the bottom. Normally, links to the caches that are identified are put up in this place. I believe this error has been happening for a little while. Could someone look into it and fix this?

    New Site Bugs

I noticed this bug on the state maps. When I went to identify the caches, it identified it on the map, but the links to the caches that are below the map did not work.
  10. Please sign me up for one. Thanks.
  11. I was able to order them. Looks like things are working OK now. Thanks for fixing it.
  12. Agree 100% I don't think the quantity that people were ordering was the issue, the problem is the amount of people hitting the site at the same time. If there is a limit, then there will be alot less pressure for buyers to try and get in there to buy them all at the same time, since it is likely that there will still be some left a little later. Pre-sales and/or allowing coins to be reserved would help even more.
  13. For what it's worth, I tried to purchase one of each, and I was only able to get to the page for the black nickel once and it never would let me add one. Pre-sales would be much better in the future, and if it's not too late, I'd still like to get the one of each.
  14. I would be interested in purchasing one of these.
  15. It seems to be working again. Thanks to whoever fixed it.
  16. When you choose a state off the first GC.Com screen, the next screen gives you an option of clicking on MAP at the top of that screen. Usually, clicking on that will bring up a map which will show all the caches for that state. (Usually you have to zoom in to a particular area so that it is meaningful.) Today, when I clicked on the MAP link, I got this: Cache Map: Ohio On click: Zoom In Zoom Out Pan Identify Couldn't save the image. Check the script directory permissions. Return to Full Extent Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a0046' Permission denied /map/maplib.asp, line 191 This feature was working last weekend. Does anyone know what happened?
  17. I use a yahoo account for my geocaching mail and noticed that it got unusually quiet yesterday aftenoon. I started checking today and noticed that a couple of my caches had been found since then and no notification. Probably I am missing other notifications as well such as things on my watchlist or new caches being published, caches being disabled/enabled/archived, etc. Hope this gets fixed soon!
