  1. and really really good news the tb that went missing with my cache turned up at the hampshire mid week thing apperantly in the red tin (means nothing to me as ive never been to one) does show it was not gary though. but does show it was a geocacher and not a muggle still the main thing is the tb is safe and sound
  2. Mr McTavish They where "taken to a cache" BY myself because after 2 weeks of them saying they would place them , i had a polite email from a user i was in contact with saying they had only placed one and could i hurry them on a bit. when i went round and commented on this there answer was along the lines of "yeah i know i cant remember where the caches are and cant be f***ed to hunt for any at the moment. which was when i offerd to take them to a cache then and there as gary wasnt busy at that time. when they first come round and said sorry to me and that it was there "mistake" i had doubts about this as well after all it was ME that explaind what they where for.(i beleve there change of heart was because i said i would post there home address on hear)when they appologized , they did offer to give ME all the coins to place but I declined as i did not really want to handle them and was reluctent to take this responsability. I choose the cache i did for 2 resons 1.it was a puzzle cache and unlikey to get a rush of people to try and get them. 2.i admit i could be wrong on this bit. But i vaugely remeberd 2 or 3 years ago the cache owner giveing his address out (somewhere in havent i beleve)as a tb amnisty type thing, and figerd if they could be trusted with that and where willing to take that on , then the coins would be safe there. anyway all this is irrlivent I was contacted and asked for help, I gave it. Would you have preferd me to say yes i know them but no im not going to help?
  3. Geocache owners please watch you geocaches. a while ago there was a problem with some people we knew keeping geocoins (pirates of penzanze) we got involved after emails asking for help after getting a lot of abuse from them they aggred to place them after 2 weeks they had only placed 1 giving the excuse they couldnt remeber where the caches where so we drove them near a puzzle cache (not letting them see where it was) i retreaved the cache and got them to place the coins and log them into this cache. then a short while after one of our caches with a tb in went missing. where it was there are security camers but they are very grainy. the manager looked at the footage and showed us someone clearly going to the cache reaching up taking it then getting back in the car and driving off. while we cant see there face we belive the car looks like theres and think they where getting there own back on us. we have tackled them about it but they denied it and gave us more abuse. now IF it was them taking the cache i am worried they may target other geocaches. so please keep a really good eye on your geocaches.
  4. you can do that with iphone geocache app as well ;-)
  5. but then surely... If you log to say you found NO trackables and do not say anything if you did find them. all you would have to do is look for logs that say nothing about tb and that would tell you one was/and may still be in there. as all the ones with out tb say theres none as people log to say so
  6. i sent an e-mail ages ago , but not had any response. maybe there all busy tring to fix it
  7. i cant see the ot forum and when i try the links to it i get [#10333] We could not find the forum you were attempting to view.
  8. if im going all day caching,i put my phone into a battery case makes the phone about as thick as my old garmin vista but the power lasts all day. the case cost £30.00 i just find useing the phone alone to be easyer as i can search for caches on the road and know the info is up to date and less to carry. the bags i put them dont seem fog up. maybe im not caching hard enough or if you just want a waterproof case for the iphone try iphone case
  9. not sure about other phones but my iphone 4 seems quite robust in my butter finger hands ive dropped it many times while geocaching. even watched it bounce down some very steep hills and steep inbankments to crys ooohhhh @$%**^ my phone. but it always seems to servive (maybe im just lucky) it does have a screen protector on it and a rear plastic case that cost 1p of ebay (yes 1p with free postage from china, how do they do that)
  10. I'm sure the rain won't cause problems on the screen through a bag. Does the screen still respond to finger touches through the bag. (I think the 4 has a capacitive touch screen doesn't it?) ohhhh yes yes yes the screen still works fine through the bag.
  11. but on the otherside of the coin another one of my tb went missing i emailed every one who visited the cache after it was placed if they had seen it every one said no then i got one from a person who had said "no" saying there daughter had taken it without them knowing and would place it into a cache when they could. still waiting for them to kindly place it though
  12. how about 0 miles put out "mr spoon" into my cache i kindly helped some new geochers find the cache i even explaind to them what the tb was and how to log it they took it its in there inventry but have not placed it i have emaild them nicely asking them to. 1.place it in another cache 2.return it to my cache 3.post it to me (didnt list it like that to them) but they never replied to my email think they just liked it and decided to keep it wasnt that £6.00 well spent teach me to be helpfull wont it
  13. Yes, I noticed that too. Never mind. I can take the disappointment. We've had promotions in the past that were exclusively for the UK and/or Europe. Anyway, I've got my own gecko. MrsB like your gecko hope we stumble across him/her i emailed the promotion people direct , asking if they would kindly make an exception and send one to the uk no answer yet though
  14. i use my iphone 4 and when it rains i simply put it in a ziploc bag keeps it dry and the screen works fine. and not had any problems with the rain on the bag effecting the screen
  15. ooohhh thats not fair. they wont send to the uk.
  16. i cant see the ot thread as well didnt even know there was one. so not getting all the benifits ive paid for. will there be some sort of compensation for this free tb maybe or even an extension of paid membership for free welll i can dream now cant i
  17. I think thats a good idea. then you can see how many have been added after it started. and see how many it ends up with
  18. We posted ours today so hopefully will be with you soon We dipped it into one of our caches to start it off. am looking forward to tracking it as the iron gate travels about thank you for all the work your putting into it and thank you for letting me join in.
  19. What if someone leaves it turned on and the battery goes flat? that could be annnoying if found when flat.esp if youve hiked a long way to find it. just my opinion, BUT also wish there where ones like that round hear Also think you did a great job.
  20. A box without hinges, key, or lid, yet golden treasure inside is hid. -J. R. R. Tolkien would that be an egg?
  21. its a shame gs cant put an option, so when you log the cache ,you can mark the tb as missing. then when people look at a cache inventrey it could have little question mark next to it. showing it has been reported missing from the cache.
  22. thats good to know post office it is on sat then thank you
  23. since reading the test message that was kindly sent the other "number 3" has now gone i did check the personal ones but that was blank to as they have gone now ill stop worrying about them. must have been a glitch of some sort. thank you all for your help. much appreciated.
