  1. Hi - these are good suggestions, I think?, but in order to select send to GPS I am presented with the window again that states Garmin Communicator Plugin NOT detected. Then it provides me with a link to download and install now. And then thats how I run into all of the errors with windows media player etc. Now I am on the phone with Microsoft...yes this has gone all downhill to THEM even, stating that their download center or something is WRONG because I have a validated version of windows but their download link to windows media player 11 is asking for a stupid validation authentication each time I try to download. Even though when I go start program accessories system tools activate windows it states that windows is already validated. I just never dreamed that having an actual handheld GPS is more inconvenient than an automotive TOmTom GPS (which we have been using for 2 yrs inputting the latitude and long) and still having a high success rate... I thought it would be simple plug and play ...but really is turning out to be a set of events it seems. P.S. I am using windows XP and IE8. pss When I run pocket queries, that gives me an option to map a route, but sometimes I do not want all of those geos picked up by the query to show in my Garmin, there are only a select few that I want...so I am selecting the send to GPS button on the right of EACH individual geocache link, I am assuming that is how to do it ...
  2. So we got our very first handheld GPS and must say. Never do I think I will go with Garmin again. We got a Garmin Oregon 200 and already cannot even get it set up past the SUBSCRIPTION. Went on geocaching.com and tried to send a cache to GPS by selecting Send to GPS. Well it asks for a download of a plugin, that is fine, but then when I try to run it it states that Windows Media Player v11 or higher must be installed before running the Plugin? Seriously? Okay I try that, and it takes me to a Windows validation screen asking me to buy a validation or validate Windows? (which Im pretty sure I did years ago, any way to check?) Such USELESS steps to take to get a GPS to connect to its computer. Hoping other company products are not like this one, but in the meantime, stuck with it, so does anyone know how to get around this stupid validation of WINDOWS? or not needing Windows media, or finding another source to get windows media other than the fail microsoft url.... Regards..
  3. Guys keep up the negative reviews on this STUPID attempt at Groundspeak attempt to make themselves a Google of Geocaching and keep adding things that are actually Worse to the game itself or the visual appearance of their site... Oh, P.S. the logs that people post now show everyone as Found it,mmm about 9 months ago ...but, you expect me to then click further into that to see the exact date. TEEEDDDIIIIOUUUSSS. Thanks for your attempts Groundspeak but you guys have got to stop trying to change things so much. Challenges? Here's one: Leave the site alone for more than 2 months..plx thx k bye..
  4. Thanks for the great feedback. We have seen the benefits of good quality cache loc-n-locs vs. old crummy ones. We are looking at conducting more nano cache's than anything. KW surplus is such a great store for ANYTHING. I wonder if they would have nanos? I will have to go there and see what geo swag they have also. You're in my area. Are you looking for cache containers. Are you thinking about becoming a Cache Owner and planting your first cache? For containers you should look for Lock and Locks - the real thing, not the knockoffs you can buy at dollar stores. Sears (in the kitchen section) usually has a nice selection of Lock and Locks. Also Zellers and Walmart have Lock and Locks. For ammo cans go to the K-W Surplus store in Kitchener at 666 Victoria Street North. While you're at KW Surplus you'll probably find some decent inexpensive geoswag as well. Ammo cans and Lock and Locks are going to cost you under $10 (ammo can about $7, sandwich size lock and lock about $6). It's worth the money. They are watertight and will last, on average about 5 years, maybe longer. Dollar store containers are not water tight and deteriorate quickly. Before hiding your cache, read the guidelines carefully. It's important to hide properly. In our area if you don't follow the guidelines you will quickly get constructive feedback as well as Needs Maintenance and Needs Archiving logs if they are not met. So my advice, hide the best cache you can and make a good first impression.
  5. Hi, haha yes sorry local as in Kitchener/Waterloo (Ontario)
  6. So looking at buying some caches off of the geocaching.com website but I don't think that they ship to Canada only the states is that true? If so, or even if not, can any local Canadians suggest where I can purchase some hopefully cheap priced cache containers (esp. nano's), geo swag, etc. that I found on the geocaching website. Any help would be much appreciated
  7. great thanks again T4e, p.s. did you ever get that email I sent you about being a fellow trancehead . Trust in Trance as we say hahah ciao
  8. Hi guys, don't know if Im just missing something or what but I remember back in the day when you could EDIT the milestone that you had to make it your 1st..or 100th etc.etc. But now am I missing something or is that feature gone? I know that its nice to have a true 100th find let's say, but there are those circumstances where it would be nice to change it because you miss calculated etc... is this feature gone>?
  9. great thanks again dfx...and fansy seeing you here! Let's go out for some drinks now, it's hot out haha I assume it's only platinum members who get such emails?
  10. Maybe I am missing it...but how cool would it be I just thought of recently with the introduction of the favourites feature on geocaching.com, if there was a way to actually view most favourites in a certain region. Either by Pocket Query or some sort of a search, this would find ourselves making the trips to that specific cache to do and in the meantime, any other caches in that surrounding area. Anyone else agree/thoughts?
  11. BUNCH OF BUMS at Groundspeak, stop trying to act like Google creating all this stupid Beta map-crap trying to change things because it's affecting everything like loading smiley's or even clicking on the actual cache icon doesn't open up that box that allows you to click on the link of cache name so many times cannot even view the dadgum thing...just go back to normal!!
