  1. You might try using an external anntenna. I've used one in the past for stealth purposes, cold batteries not a problem here in Florida. Keep the GPS inside your jacket and attach the small antenna outside, you never lose a lock. Good luck and stay warm!

  4. A loose fitting wire tie should do it. You also might want to change brances.
  5. The idea is to keep people away from the tracks when looking for your cache. If you make it clear on the cache page that they are to look in the park and not beyond the fence, you should be okay. However you should also let the reviewer know that there is a physical barrier (the fence) between the cache and the tracks. Comunication wth the reviewer is very important in a case like this. Good luck!
  6. I've always perfered the tradional Partrige in a pear tree. It is important to get good coords so it's found before the poor bird freezes.
  7. even making an X with the edge of a coin or fingernail is good. enjoy the hunt, don't sweat the logging, just make an honest effort.
  8. The National Achives in washington, DC, where else!
  9. That's what happens when you leave those things in a place like North Dakota!
  10. someone please, buy the man some batteries!
  11. Just use a piece of waterproof paper that is 1/2" smaller all around than the mag. sheet, the mag. sheet will hold it on. I know one here in Florida that has been up for over three years, and we do get rain, lot's of it.
  12. Are you sure you want to know....you'll want to go there to see them............your life will be ruined...........blood, gore, broken bones along the way...............Good luck on your quest.
  13. OK, OK that bear that chased me from the LPC only weighed 300 lbs., not the 350 lbs I reported...........sorry, sorry......but it was 467 out of 499 for the day..........please don't tell my mother.
  14. GEE, and it's right there by NICEVILLE.......makes you wonder....
  15. Growup and let our troops enjoy what they can. The cache listings mark nothing and are adjusted locally for usel
  16. It's a GPS, it knows where you are, that is what it does. Have a good trip!
  17. I did this with paperback books. I put them in freezer bags to keep them dry and clean and the cache container was an ammo box. This was very well recieved...........Go for it!
  18. I had a cache called "Sleeps with the fish". It was a fishing pole leaning against a tree with a dissicated catfish on the end of the line. A bison tube in the fishes mouth held the log. It lasted over a year in the wild before the fish went missing. Great fun.
  19. I'd go for the clown suit and a blowup doll , thats so I'd look friendly and not alone!..........Good luck.
  20. In Florida please remember that the tourists just think you are a "colorful local" and they are going home tommorow anyway. The locals know you are a tourist, exspect strange behavior from you and know you are going home tommorow. The locals know the locals, exspect strange behavior from them and enjoy "colorful friends". So when in Florida, hunt what you want to, enjoy our caches and don't be concerned about how you look to others. We don't
  21. I just returned from checking a cache of mine that has been out there for 3 years. Everytime the Park grounds crew clears out the ground cover in that area they leave the cache in place, this has occured 4X. Another large cache of mine was removed by a company who cleared out a small area near a bus stop and placed benchs and landscaping for their employees. The last thing to go in was my very large Hide in plain sight cache. Ya gotta love it!
