  1. Just added to the Knowledge Books: Geocaching → Review Process: Hiding a Geocache → Additional Cache Hints http://support.Groundspeak.com/index.php?p...page&id=222
  2. Groundspeak has not been contacted by anyone from Disney or from netmums about the Great Fairy Forage. As they are the owners of this venture, they need to reach out to Groundspeak and ask for permission / explore a partnership: appeals@geocaching.com Until then, commercial cache guidelines are what they always are.
  3. Sounds like a fun and commercial hide-and-seek game similar to geocaching but not listed as caches at geocaching.com. Does that sound right to those who are participating? Or do I have that wrong?
  4. Groundspeak will make it easier to have these new devices as part of the growing repertoire of ways to find a cache. Here is the current plan: A new attribute for a "beacon" will be added soon. Any caches that use a Chirp (or any future similar device) should use this attribute. If a cache owner puts a beacon in a traditional cache and geocachers have an alternative method to find it without using the beacon, then OK. I remind you to use the coming attribute. If the cache owner insists on not providing an alternative means of finding the geocache, it must be listed as a mystery with the beacon attribute. Cache descriptions may mention the "Chirp" as long as the text doesn't go on and on with "overtones of advertising, marketing, or promotion" as per our long-standing commercial guidelines. We do not plan to add a new cache type just for this.
  5. That was a fun little gift from Groundspeak simply to commemorate 10-10-10. Thanks for using the iPhone app!
  6. You are most certainly allowed to disagree with Groundspeak. We already heard you the first few times. So, back to souvenirs then.
  7. For those who were having a tough time understanding the concept of souvenirs, my hope is that the image of the treasure chest with stickers all over it from places you've been to gives a graphic explanation. Remember that beat-up old backpack we all had with patches on it? Patches that showed to the world where I've been? I wish I had kept that backpack ... and kept up the tradition of getting patches. They may be permanent, too.
  8. Please cease your fairly dependable derailment of conversations about souvenirs. Thanks. To answer your question: look in the recent release notes, please.
  9. You can see my souvenirs on my profile page, lachupa. That's all you get for now. Que the dramatic music....
  10. Thanks, mongoose. Groundspeak is always happy to talk to potential partners, once we know who they are. Sometimes, very creative projects are born which are great for the community as a whole. Just as an example, here is one current example going on in the Seattle area involving temporary caches: http://www.geocaching.com/geocrush/
  11. have they email you back and if so what do you have to do? i don't mind setting some if they are going to do it properly I havent had a reply yet, but it was only Thursday I emailed them, i will update if I get a response. Can you (or any other people here who hear back from them) please send me a copy of whatever you get back? I would be interested to know what they say. They have not contacted anyone at Groundspeak about this at all.
  12. I edited Post #1 due to request from cache owners.
  13. Let's start a new thread with tips and tricks.
  14. We have some helpful tips and tricks for use in our discussion Forums. You can read about them in the Knowledge Books: http://support.Groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.book&id=4
  15. Hi folks. A few of you clever ones found something that is currently in the testing phases here at Groundspeak. Oops - you weren't supposed to see that big list that was posted earlier. If you could keep it under your hats and not share about it any more than you already have, that would be very much appreciated. I am closing this thread for the time being. Please do not start a new thread about the same topic. Thanks very much!
  16. You can certainly keep an eye out for one another. In general, we will leave it to you, the community, to manage your own conduct. We ask that you treat other forum participants with respect.
  17. Translations for the text: "Talk about geocaching in Hungary" Google told me: beszélni geocaching Magyarországon Bazsy told me: geocaching Magyarországon
  18. Welcome to the new Hungarian forum! Üdvözöljük ! Here is the list of caches in Hungary. Please read at our Forum Guidelines and please enjoy the friendly conversations about geocaching in this part of the world. The flag graphic that is currently missing here will soon appear. Also, we should probably translate that short description in English into Hungarian: can someone help, me please?
  19. I have also moved it from Getting Started to the South and Southeast forums for better visibility.
  20. I give special permission for chiefpropellerhead to post this thread here. It's a case of a geocaching presentation that costs some money, and it doesn't go to him personally. It appears to be a proposal to give a talk on "geocaching for beginners."
