  1. I don't know...I don't have a 550 unit to compare.
  2. yes, is brighter than Oregon 300 and the display more clear ( crystal like )
  3. I bought the Oregon 450 yesterday from UK and the screen visibility is better....about 20-25 % I might say....but in the daylight...unfortunately today was not a shiny day to test in the sunlight.
  4. On my 400T the altimeter goes crazy...when I sit in the same place for 1 hour and I look at the Elevation Plot - Total Ascent value is rising every minute , after one hour the total ascent value is ~ 70 m and I didn't make a move. Iis it any chance to see the real total ascent value when I go hiking for 10 hours? not 400-500 meters more than the real value? Thanks.
  5. Does anybody know how much built in memory have the Oregon 400t ( including preloaded maps ) Thanks in advance.
  6. Can you tell me if your Oregon 200 have Elevation plot?or if you can see the route/track profile somehow on topo map? Thanks
  7. I have v2.90 dated 2-19-08, but I suspect you mean DEM data, not contours. DEM data would require Topo 2008. I have Above the Timber's Topos. While their maps are derived from USGS elevation data, that data is not embedded in the file/maps. Does that explain things? Perhaps you could post a screenshot of what you're seeing? Thanks I don't know what DEM data means....I have an official Garmin map ( topo & road routing details included ) and I will post a screenshot few hours later. Give me your email address on PM to send the screenshot...this is an Oregon topic.
  8. The path is correct , it says "no option" on saved tracks or routes, because : - you don't have a map with elevation data ( topo ) - it won't show you the profile if you have City Navigator - your CX must be updated ( only units updated after July 2007 will have this feature ) The profile of the track/route is based on a map data, not by the GPS reading. Good luck
  9. Since the Oregon 200 does not exist yet, it would be impossible for anyone to answer your question. Now is available, look here : http://www.amazon.com/Garmin-200-Touchscre...p/dp/B001B19XLE ...and many stores.
  10. Thanks for replies. In my country ( Romania ) local map is a topographic map that include roads, urban area etc..... and I can see a route or a saved track with profile in my Legend HCX ( like elevation plot in GPSr with altimeter ) . This profile is based on a topographic data on map...not on GPS reading. For example : on Etrex Legend HCX go to saved tracks - menu - profile - and will show you the track with elevation profile. ( if you have a topo map ) I'm wondering if the Oregon 200 have this feature.
  11. I'm going to buy an Oregon 200 which doesn't have a barometric altimeter. Do you know if this model displays elevation plot like the Oregon 300 or 400t?..or is it any chance to view the track profile like Etrex Legend CX or similar models without barometric altimeter. Thanks in advance
  12. Thanks Chui!, I've found a geocaching.com logo, as icon...and it's ok now.
  13. Thanks Chuy! excellent tip . I put a 15x15 pixels bmp and it's perfect. Do you know where to find a geocache icon, exactly like that on my GPS???..maybe you can attach one here Thanks
  14. I have the same problem...but is not a big deal. You can save later as a regular waypoint, geocache or whatever but without the long comment...so I prefer to going to seek the cache paperless ( ~ 90 characters ) without the geocache icon.
  15. So, do you need GSAK to edit and save the waypoings as gpx files or is it sufficient to build the files in EasyGPS and then load those files with the poi loader? You can edit .gpx file with Mapsource and save, then open it with GSAK with %hint at description and generate , after that you can upload gpx files with POI Loader. You will need GSAK for more characters at the waypoint description

  17. Thanks a lot...it works like Chuy! says...Write info in Mapsource then %hint in GSAK , then upload with POILoader - works great!! Many Thanks!!
  18. Thanks for your answer but it doesn't work...I've read the thread but no answer for my problem. I don't want to import all the cache details , I want to write some informations ( max 88 characters ) then export to GPS. GSAK import all cache data or a part of it, but it won't let me to write what I want in the description.
  19. Hello, My Legend HCX supports only 30 characters at waypoint description, is it any chance to input more characters such as 100 , maybe more??? I saw here some tutorials but only for Nuvi...not for other models. Thanks in advance.
