  1. A pushbike! Almost 10 years old, not treated well or cleaned regularly (twice so far I think), but it gets me there!
  2. From a very small amount of experience yes, this is a problem. I think proximity does not work for Garmin devices. Maybe someone who knows the details can help.
  3. Not so much can but would anyone? I have a cart published about a year ago that I just cannot get to work well on both Garmin and ppc / openwig players. Am starting to give up on Wherigo due to lack of Groundspeak support... is Wherigo dead? (that's another topic!)
  4. When you don't even know if it's genuine action or a genuine mistake. How about giving dalemanX a chance to explain, before making further comments Deci Well that's no fun! This way we all get to wade in with uninformed opinions (like this one)!
  5. I hid my first cache with less than 10 finds. It doesnt matter how many you have just read the rules and youll be fine! Good luck hiding it! Whatever you do make the first one easy on yourself... local, traditional, small or regular. Don't do what I did and try a Wherigo, more trouble than it is worth! Easy ones get found more which is much more rewarding for your first hide.
  6. Thanks tozainamboku, I always wondered why, but as I am PM and use a pq 'my local unfound' never bothered to find out!
  7. Not looking good from Jersey Telecom either. There was maintenance a few days ago, hope it is nothing too major!
  8. Oh, and don't expect it to be accurate. My .gpx import and the plugin do not match up. Not sure why (and have not bothered to find out!), probably not a problem unless you want to use it without a gps.
  9. Just a note if you are using the gc plugin.... Turn off auto refresh (as you only get so many in 24 hours and it refreshes every time you move or zoom). Zoom out to cover a large area (you will get a feel for how far out as it only returns the first 500 I think). Right click the plugin and refresh. Pan and zoom around the area to your hearts content without using up your refresh quota.
  10. Do they have to be unique finds? I could set up a cache with a really big log and just go there every day! (only joking of course!!)
  11. It may be there is an old archived cache or a throwdown or some other nonsense nearby with a wet log. It does not sound like it in this case but you will not know unless you ask.
  12. IBTL Much as I hate to continue the bashing of the poor website owner (who, by the way, did not even start this thread!)... From the website in question... How about Country or County laws? We do not have "State and Federal laws"! So much for world wide.
  13. S**t happens. As it turns out it may be a good learning experience that some people you just can't describe in a family friendly forum.
  14. I have a Wherigo that is a little like a 'choose your own adventure', only if you choose the wrong way... you keep walking! (not many finds - will probably update it this year!)
  15. Aaah, forget it, someone already has HERE Maybe I should change it to 'fix the feedback forum search' as my search for 'team' did not find 'teams'
  16. How many people cache as part of a team, and wish it could be reflected on the website? Take a look at the feedback forum item on team caching What are peoples thoughts on this idea? It sprung up as it would be useful for me and my caching buddy to see what caches we both have left to find locally, and also from reading some threads on power trails where teams do alternate caches - this way you could be accurate as to which ones you found! PLEASE do not fixate on the power trail part!!! Time for me to duck & run for cover...
  17. I will sometimes trade old coins for swag if I need to (eg. The light on my bike is dead and there is a battery that fits...) other than that TNLNSL. One question from across the pond... what is 'Where's George'? There is a book over here called 'Where's Wally' where you have to find a guy in a stripey top in a big picture...
  18. Yep, unless your rock begins with G then we are on the same one! (oh - or A, S or H) Hold on - you have found 3 out of 4? Are you in Alderney? It is good to log your finds on the site, if nothing else it lets the Cache Owner know that the cache is still OK, I enjoy writing lots on my logs as I enjoy reading them when people find my caches. With the mobile phone charges over here I have found the (mentioned before) software to be the best as it does not try to use the internet connection all the time, however I have a premium membership (£30ish a year) to geocaching.com which allows me to download all the caches on the island in one go and drop them on to the phone. There is an official app for Andriod that I have not tried but again I think it uses the internet a lot - you can get to that from the main geocaching.com page. Enjoy - Jersey has lots of decent caches! (for anyone in the UK reading this we have 230 caches on a 9x5mile island - caching holiday heaven!)
  19. Hi PortletPaul, I have been caching for about a year with a HTC Desire using Cachemate software (hope it is OK to mention the software?) - works fine for me and is usually about as accurate as my caching buddy's cheap Garmin. I occasionally have to turn off & on to reset the magnetic compass but I work in IT and am used to that! Great caching scene here on the rock, very friendly, take your time and enjoy each cache - I sped through them too fast and now they are running out!
  20. I fell off my bike and hurt my ankle on the way out for a nights caching (the big cog on the bike punctured the skin a bit...). Stopped and let the blood flow for a bit then cycled to a petrol station and bought some bandages, strapped it up and went on for another 3 hours of cycling, walking and lifting Big_Bean into a tree Next morning I could not put ANY weight on it and had to go to A&E - yep - broken Now I carry a 1st aid kit
  21. It's Windows - the apps are out there - try this one, it's free: www.gimp.org (Graphical Image Manipulation Program - nothing rude, honest! ) Good luck with the cart, I can't pretend to be an expert on them.
  22. At the moment it is hard to get 5 caches with 5 points, but keep a cache around long enough and it will get 5 points. Give it a year and that will be an easy challenge.
