  1. Can anyone answer this... I want to have characters give different responses depending on the zone they are in - and I want to use InProximity in an if/else environment (if the player is in X zone then do this...). At the moment I cannot seem to drag the right things in to get this?
  2. The first place to start in Wherigo is (IMHO) getting it simpler for new carts to be written. Forget the nice-to-have features, we need a REALLY simple builder for people who are not programmers to use. It really is hell to develop a cart with any of the current builders (I am in IT but not a developer). Once we have as many Wherigo's as Multi's THEN we can put pressure on Groundspeak for new features.
  3. Thank you so much! That just works amazingly well, and now I know how to force Urwigo to name zones correctly! All hail the Guru of Wherigo! I will let you know when the finished cart is available so you can see how it all ties in to the story.
  4. Well here is the urwigo file (zipped) - I have no worries sharing code, and at this stage I just wanted to test the ZoneMover so there really is nothing in there except for the location. Unfortunately you cannot output Lua code so I cannot see the name of the zone - which may well be the issue. I have put a 5 second timer on the start of the cart and the code is fired on the ontick. If the answer is 'use another builder' then let me know - that is a very valid answer! If anyone who knows how Urwigo references zones could chime in it may help... Dragon Chase Sequence.zip
  5. OK, I know that this was posted here over 3 years ago, but has anyone got this working with Urwigo? I have entered the main part of the code in to the 'Lua user functions' section (zoneMovers variable and all of the code from 'function CreateZoneMover(zoneToMove, pointsToMove)' to 'end --of ZoneMover:Run'. For the purposes of my test the code to call the function has been placed in the cart's On Start with a bit of Lua code. So when I go to test it I get the cart loading OK but when it starts - OOPS! An Error Occured.... attempt to index local 'zoneToMove' (a nil value) The cart is simply the user being chased by a dragon, and will (if I get it working) be part of a larger cart. I have tried putting the cart.onstart in the 'Lua user functions' but it would not even build, and seeing as I cannot get in to the .lua file to manually see what the cart or zones are referenced as I am not even sure that my zone is being called properly! Am I pushing what Urwigo can do? This is only my 2nd cart and I wanted to try something other than the GS Builder. Thanks in advance for any advice!
  6. I use this: Ultimate Add-ons Waterproof case I know it does not help your case for getting a change, and it is for a Desire not iphone but I find it really useful as I can use apps on the go (unless I am off road and the bike moves too much to see the screen).
  7. I only have a few trackables out there, and enjoy keeping ones I find on mission. I have been disappointed by the small logs that I get emailed through - just the fact it is logged in / out of a cache. Until I was showing my caching dad my TB's and saw pics & decent logs going back a year that I had no idea were on there! I think we should be emailed when a log is updated as well as when it is created. Thoughts? Ps TB484AQ
  8. Quite possible, and probably not that uncommon, a new cache is placed, the FTF is spotted by muggles who remove for whatever reason.
  9. Well until the inevitable extreme posters turned up I was going to tell the story of how my daughter fell over near a cache and grazed her knee and we used that to sign the log (also left a tb). But now I see I may get flamed for that story, so I won't.
  10. As I achieved this by accident I would not like to make a challenge cache from it... far too hard! (And I don't like the idea of challenge caches) As for geocaching challenges, there are plenty of worldwide (locationless) challenges to bump up the numbers!
  11. I knew that I was coming up to my 400th find, but got a surprise when I saw my profile page... From this I can deduce: Every 4 caches I find a trackable. Every 40 caches I complete a challenge. Every 20 caches I get a FTF! (no real reason for the post other than to share / boast!)
  12. How many visits do you think you will get on a 100km cache? I say good on them for attempting it! Would you have a problem if they signed as a team? I see this as being the same as leapfrogging on a powertrail and claiming the find. Not my cup of tea but seems to be allowed!
  13. There is a challenge cache in the UK that wants different types of icon on milestones, so I am working toward that - so far trad, mystery and virt. It makes the lead-up to a milestone interesting as I need to make sure I am on the right number before getting that one! Next one I am trying for an Earthcache, then Multi and Event...
  14. What's in a name? Quality and Awesomeness are pretty much the same thing when used in this context. I think the idea is great, and love the Garmin way of finders being able to affect the difficulty, terrain and yes, awesomeness ratings.
  15. A film can with very little description and an uninspiring location would not get a TFTC from me. I would post an honest comment.
  16. With that small amount I would carry on to the cache, and sign the log! No serious grower would keep them in public. How about shouting about it in a public forum just in case the grower hears that you found the stash Too late now, you should have done something immediately if you were going to do anything. I moved in to a house once with growlights and plastic sheeting in the loft. It was a bit of a bargain, the owners wanted a quick sale...
  17. Maybe we could just add a map option from the main menu that shows the nearby caches, has a 'live' option or simply waits for you to tap the 'Search Here' option? Then if you hit back it would take you back to the map. Quite often I search using the map and would like to not have to wait for nearby caches first.
  18. I set a nightcache recently and had to prove GPS useage before publication. Fire tacks to a 1st stage with GPS coords to final. Back on topic if you are a Premium Member you can crate a Pocket Query by attribute and select just night caches. (Although to be honest have just tried this and most of them have incorrectly been ticked as night caches )
  19. Great idea! I would use these as a FTF prize (makes a change from a TB)
  20. Actually I understand that they have a way of scheduling them for release so long as you ask nicely! (was in the company of a reviewer when a cache got published by her and had to ask) The only issue with timing is if you want it NOW! (yes, they do have a lot to do!!)
  21. It would be nice when setting up notifications to be able to select multiple cache types rather than set up 7 notifications for all the 'live' cache types (Trad, Multi, Unknown, Letterbox, Earth, Wherigo, Event). It is usual when setting up notifications to want more than one type in the same search area, so would save a cachers time, and depending on how the database is set up may reduce the load on the DB. Especially useful when going on holiday - just set up 1 notification and enjoy!
  22. I used to live in Jersey, it was easy to try to keep the 10 mile rule Now I am in the Uk I have a new radius to consider - and may be one for work, one for home and one for the route between! Although rivers do mean that a cache within 5 miles may need over a hour to get to...
  23. I doubt Groundspeak is non profit. I for one understand the lack of hybrid and satellite views due to Google cutting off the free service, and I understand why Google has to charge. That's capitalism. Groundspeak will need to adjust too. If I need Hybrid images I use pocket queries to export to Google Earth, the maps we have now are good enough for getting near by road (or path). What ever happened to the adventure of finding the path yourself? I enjoy going out with little clue of exactly where the cache is! MY premium membership is for notifications of new caches - gotta love the FTF game! PS Play - Hide & Seek a Cache - Or, search with Google Maps. #Ahem# Edited to add PS
  24. I noticed all the words in "double quotes" - try saying every word you see in "double quotes" a bit sarcastically and the whole tone changes. (especially posts 2 and 4 in this thread...!)
