In both cases the pq had run within the last week, but I wanted to pull fresher pq's because I knew things in the area changed significantly.
Why not just reschedule the original one to run again? The PQ generator seems to be running really fast lately and you should have no problem getting it again this week.
Because PQ's that have run recently don't always generate right away, and being close to midnight I didn't want to chance it not running or chance it lapping.
Plus I wanted them right away.

One more note, I usually only copy my "template" (never been run) pq's so I don't know that this is a new bug or if its been around.
I do know that in the last "release notes" it was stated
The big project, Pocket Queries, is only half-finished or thereabouts so it didn't make it in this release.which would infer that it wasn't touched with today's release.

No, none of the pq's I was trying to copy were archived, all were normal pq's, (not along a route pq's, and nothing real special about them)

I went back and tried to copy several and none that have run in the past week would copy. The only other pq's I have are either fresh (never run, just there as a template) or were last run in 2008, all of those seem to copy.

When trying to copy a recently run PQ, I get this message in red across the top of the PQ list page:
The name "CacheCountLastGenerated" is not permitted in this context. Valid expressions are constants, constant expressions, and (in some contexts) variables. Column names are not permitted.
This doesn't happen if I copy a PQ that has never run or a PQ that hasn't run recently.

Thanks for the responses... I was guessing that was the case but didn't know if signing myself up for custom notifications somehow nullified my default cache owner notifications... again, ty!
Unlikely. In fact its a common complaint to get double emails when you have a combination of notifies, owner or watchlist emails, so if you setup a notify that happens to cover a cache you own, expect to get double emails, one for being owner, one for the notify.

There is a high probability that this is related to the PQ threads about getting the PQ emails, people in those threads are also complaining about missing owner/notify/watchlist emails.
It looks like the majority of outbound emails are not actually going out.

Interesting that Michael was quick to say it wasn't their problem and hasn't been heard from since.
As long as they keep getting paid they have no incentive to fix any of the real problems.
Maybe a mass canceling of accounts might get their attention.
There's only been ONE single posting by anyone that could at least pick up a phone to have someone look at it, and honestly I don't believe his posting. No other moderator or "lackie" has stepped in, despite multiple threads complaining about both missing PQ's and missing owner, notify, and watch list emails.
There is very clearly an undeniable problem here, yet by all indications, gc has chosen to deny it (yeah, thanks for nothing Michael, you had a chance to do the right thing and you didn't).

I just ran a test PQ and it arrived in lass than 10 minutes. It looks like its working fine from our end.
Your "test" might have run but there are way too many people complaining, add me to the list, for there not to be a real problem.

I have a nuvi 500 and the macro that i refer to above works great. The only thing I haven't got working is the proximity alerts but I do not think they work on the nuvi 500 because it does not support the tour guide feature
I don't know about the 500 specifically, but proximity alerts and tour guide are two separate features. The 200 doesn't support tour guide either but has no problem with proximity alerts.

The sales person told me that if I buy the scoche USB power cigarette lighter adapter, I could use the usb cable as a power cord while driving. Not the case at all, as soon as I plugged it in, the computer came up on the screen as if I plugged it in for data transfer. The map disappears. It MIGHT allow this by changing something in Setup, but I never found it.

While you guys are arguing back and forth, geocaching.com does in fact have web api's. They were outed about a year ago. The only thing missing to get them to work was the session key.
Useless answer, if they aren't usable, then they may as well not be there.

Still - you have to admit - it IS a viable option though expensive. Even if you do have a personal beef with the carrier.
Not to an API, which is what this thread is really about.

Since I have a phone from a real carrier, and the iphone is locked to a worthless carrier, yeah, thats all I could use it for, but oh wait, if I can't get a working signal, nope, can't even use it then.

Wow these comments are so wrong and incredibly off base.
Lets see:
iphone=$399
monthly cost for 2 years locked in contract=$60/month
Total 2 year cost not including gc.com fee: $1,839 plus taxes. Plus another $10 for the iphone app.
Now your locked in with the 2nd worse carrier out there for two years, it won't work when your in a "weak area" (which seems to define about 90% of my area) and even though your contract says no roaming, your monthly bill is pretty much guaranteed to be hit with another $20/month in roaming fee's, bringing total cost up another $500 for 2 years for a total of over $2,300.
Now you have another piece of equipment to worry about that isn't "ruggedized" like a typical gps, isn't waterproof, and will probably require replacement after your first or second caching trip. So go ahead and figure on replacing it a couple times too the first time it starts raining while your out caching, or the first time you slip and fall in a creek, or the first time your walking on a trail and a branch whacks back and either hits the screen or makes you drop it and the screen cracks anyway. This could easily be another grand in costs.
Yeah, thats only a $10 one time charge to some one that can't do basic math.
A well written API would have a lot of benefit and could reduce the PQ load as well without locking into certain carriers or otherwise useless pieces of hardware.

when i up graded my membership tp premium i thought i could get notifications on my cell but i can't seem to find that info. i did find how to receive e-mails though.
Most cell phone sms plans have an email address attatched to them, usually something like:

Who is your provider? Someone here will probably know the specifics for your provider.

that I previously marked as "Ignore"? Since I am currently "ignoring" it, it doesn't come up in any searches. Is there some place I can view a list of those caches I am ignoring and then chance my "ignore" status?
Go to the cache page and choose the ignore option again is a quick way to change your ignore status for a particular cache.

What type of batteries does everyone use in the COlorado 400t? What seems to be getting the longer life?
As long as your using good fresh NiMH and more importantly a good charger you should be OK.
Do:
Use fresh batteries
Use a good high quality charger that charges each cell separately
Use a slow charging rate to charge your batteries (200-250 mA is a good rate)
Use the "refresh" mode on your charger occasionally, even for brand new batteries
Don't:
Use old batteries
Use a "fast" charger
Use a cheap charger that charges a set amount of time (most sold retail do)
Use any charger that charges batteries as "pairs" (most sold retail do)
Use batteries rated less than 2400 mAh
Use generic branded batteries, they NEVER have the rated capacities

The default backlight level is just too low to be useful in most situations. It just increases it. My testing and other reports I've found show that this makes little difference in battery life.
You sure made it sound like the cure-all for the screen, but you merely turned on the light?
Yes, its that simple. There seems to be paranoia that the backlight will somehow run the batteries down in 2 minutes or something and people just can't accept otherwise. My own testing and valid tests I've seen others post clearly show that with good batteries, the backlight makes very little difference on battery life and even with the backlight on all the time the Oregon still outlasts that other gps that everyone seems stuck on this week that apparently does kill the battery if used for more than a couple minutes.

I must be doing something wrong with my query. I am trying to run a query listing all of my finds. My profile says I have 251 finds, however the query only shows 234, and when I run the GSAK macro I get 234, and when I sort my caches by log type I get 249.
When I log milestones which number is it? The numbers make no sense?

When I look at your profile, it shows 251 finds, when I flip through them I count that 16 are archived, that leaves 235 active caches that you found, since this is only off by 1, I probably miscounted.
Based on that, it looks like your running a normal PQ and checking the "that I've found" box. Running a normal PQ like that will never return archived caches.
If you want to run a PQ thats guaranteed to contain all your finds, you have to run the special PQ at the bottom of the page, just click the button that says "add to queue" and you should get a PQ that includes all of your finds, regardless of archive or published status.

At least they do it openly. It is the ones that do it covertly that bother me.
They ARE NOT doing this openly, the only reason they got caught with their hand in the cookie jar is because the 3rd party pixel server timed out and a user complained about it.

So that gc.com can learn more about us. I have no clue why you'd need to do that on a forum that's relatively narrow-scoped.

The general reasons for needing to know that type of info falls into two catagories:
* GC.COM is planning on selling massive amounts of advertising
* GC.COM is planning on selling out. Sadly, as poorly as the site is being run now, I don't think this would be a positive move.

You mean so you can search for caches that are months, if not longer, out of date and are now archived?
So far any "update kit" seems to be vapor-ware, and there doesn't appear to be a real way to update the unit. Even when it does come out, there is no indication of costs, is there a regular fee to get updates? Are you limited to how often or how much data? None of these questions have been answered that I can see.
