  1. People can't solve the mystery caches without using Geocheck.org? Take a read of the Mystery Guidelines Actually, I would say for a cache that requires Geocheck to solve, the Geocheck link on the cache page is the information needed to solve the cache.
  2. I think GC1VZY8 has the most favourite points in the world because it has 1180 points. This cache was only placed late 2009. Must be a great cache!! The owner of that cache has 4 other caches with more favorite points than that one.
  3. Even when you report a cache that violates the guidelines, doesn't mean they will do anything about it. GC48F38 is an example, cost 20TL to enter which requires interacting with employees to get through the gates (not to mention the hordes of hawkers). The cache area is in an area not available to the general public (found this out when stopped by Security, we didn't see any signage) and still under archeological excavation.
  4. Most hobbies or sports have an inherent cost to them, some even have different levels where you get more for paying more. I recently made all my caches PMO because of an increase in swag disappearance. I recently filled one cache up with Swag and the following day returned to drop off a TB to find the cache completely empty with no new signatures in the logbook! I think that with smart phones becoming more available to people (including children), making the ability to search for caches easier, is increasing the instances of caches being trashed. Making them PMO probably won't completely solve the problem, but I feel it will at least decrease the occurrences of this happening.
  5. I swear I was no where near there, and you can't prove otherwise!!
  6. Maybe not paragraphs, but I don't think adding a single word would hurt. Perhaps something like, "All local criminal laws apply." You have to bear in mind that the guidelines apply worldwide. In some countries - the UK for instance - trespass isn't a criminal offence. I'm fairly certain the intention is for cache hiders not to trespass when placing caches though? True in most cases, but when combined with forcible entry or being on dangerous ground such as railway properties, it can be considered a criminal offence.
  7. Thanks Prodrive, A very useful tool! I especially like the translation utility!
  8. I believe GC11JM6 Geist des Hagen which is by the same hider, currently has the most favorite points (1115). We haven't done GC1VZY8 yet, as it is currently unavailable - hoping it will be back up by spring! It must be incredible for a multi to have that many points!
  9. GC11JM6 (which we logged on Halloween) has 1092 favorite points!
  10. And I think that proves it can't be done. 1020 caches / 24 hours in a day = 42.5 caches per hour. 500 caches by 10am means for the first 10 hours he would have driven to the site of each cache, found the cache, and signed the log at a rate of 50 per hour. That's almost one a minute. Think about it. It simply couldn't be done. Many who've done the series have averaged 100 per hour. For many of the caches, there's no need to look at a GPS. You can see the next cache from the one you're at.... If you don't have to use the GPS to find the Cache, is it really Geocaching? DC
  11. My wife and I hosted a Flash Mob event in front of the Alamo (San Antonio, Texas) back in May. As you can see from the logs, everyone who attended had a great time. A local cacher that attended organized an after event luncheon so we could spend more time together. Just seeing the looks on the muggles face when we all converged in one spot made the event well worth it. Unfortunately, we are in the process of moving from Germany to the U.S. and won't have time to organize one this time. I wish you guys the best of luck with your event! Dwayne
  12. I believe they are talking about trading the toys that comes in the Kinder Eggs. We have a local cache here that is for trading the toys. Ü-Ei Rotz
  13. Did this to me also, but when I refreshed a Server error came up.
  14. You will get that warning when downloading any .exe file. As long as you are confident it is from a good source, it should be okay to download. I use GeoCalc - it is a great program for translating coordinates and projecting waypoints. It is a small file (about 260 KB) that you can use right on your desktop (it doesn't install anything to your computer).

Just think of it as your way of supporting the site.
  16. I like your abbreviated response. Here is mine: Yes, its a good idea!
  17. Had a great turn out for the San Antonio Flash Mob Event - 89 people. It appears everyone had a good time. Some of us then met for an after event lunch.
  18. Second what he said! We had a great time with Barney. We are planning a return visit this month. DcCow

I think I read something like that before - written by the Romans.

Throw my vote in for this! I'm an American living in Germany, and it confuses me. I'm now so use to reading logs with the DD/MM/YY that I always find myself reading it that way in the emails. DcCow
  21. Works for me... Thanks DRunner - great job! DcCow
  22. PMOs are just one among a package of benefits available to those who support this site (and our hobby) by becoming premium members. I enjoy setting my new caches to PMO for a while to see who is visiting the listing and sometime to allow others who support the site the FTF. Is this unfair? Probably, but so is that I pay to help support the site and you get to use it for free. Our society and life in general is not fair - otherwise we would all have everything everyone else has. The sooner you learn that the better. If you have enough motivation, I'm sure you can figure out a way to earn the money to help support this site also. DC
  23. I am organizing one that is 5356.4 miles from my home coordinates
  24. I'm working on one for San Antonio. Hoping to have it posted in the next day or two. DcCow
