  1. hm, if they were looking for that cache then they must have parked at Mostyn, its one of the least Muddy caches on the Wirral
  2. streetmaps.co.uk have a converter that works the other way round...I think
  3. Just logged on to see if there were any new developements, and have found that one again I missed nothing! Hopefully if I stay logged on I will be able to watch nothing as its actually happens!
  4. Ive just checked the guidelines and nothing isnt covered by them!
  5. Actually, Ive got a better idea. DONT PLACE IT! Am I alone in thinking this is a little irresponsible, OK so this cache is on top and no damage is evident, however, how much damage could be caused during searching, and what impression is it going to give to the uninitiated when they see someone 'reworking' the stones on the top of the walls! Drystone walls should remain inviolate, in fact caches inside any wall are generally a poor idea!
  6. If you want to see all caches in a certain area then set up a search from <My Stats>, you may have to register with the site first.
  7. do a forum search for WASS and EGNOS, you will find this topic covered in detail, frequently.
  8. oops, I stand corrected, but Simply paul has got it comming anyway
  9. Of course it is, since Mozilla are so keen to leave their code open source, you can bet that someone has gone through it with a tootcomb and already has a whole list of attacks. Now, if you wanted to throughly discredit a piece of software, would you launch piecemeal attacks when it was just starting out, and the writers could patch it before much damage was done, or, would you wait until they were bragging about their 50 millionth download, and you could launch a serial attack that would affect so many people in a way that nobody would EVER want to toy with a no M$ product every again.... .... gee, have I just started a new conspiracy theory
  10. Yeah, that wont last long, the first few finds are good, then there is the need for the better GPS, the SatNav, the computer mapping, soon you are into scanning the net for new caches to get the FTFs, before long you find yourself scouring the highstreet looking for new cache containers and cool swaps, before you know it, your cutting back on the food bills to pay your vastly increased Petrol/Diesel consumption BTW its Simply Paul you want to blame!
  11. It was only a matter of time Mozilla, Apple, Linux have been making great score out of the lack of Vurus vulnerbility they suffer, but the truth is, that was only because it was never worth the virus writers time to exploit the minority softwares. OTOH, M$ have been numero uno target for so long their software is probably much more secure in real terms than anything else.
  12. Sadly my life and ability to attend these events is dictated by working shifts, Im an unlikely maybe for this one.
  13. Personally I wouldnt say anything for a while, I lost a TB back in January, and it just reappeared last week, if they ask, just say that its gone on a long mystery trip. It looks like newbies are often the worst culprits for TB abduction, they take one from a cahce without realising their signifigance, thast what happened with mine.... confused by the fact that the guy didnt log his cache find for a couple of months either!
  14. Id be interested in seeing a Poll on the effects of this, something along the lines of How willl the tighter restrictons affect you when placing a cache None, I dont place caches None, I always check for permission None, Ill just place a cache an lie about permission Some, Ill go ask permission, if its refused, cest la vie Some, Ill only place on land where permission is established Quite a bit, Ive no idea where to find the owners to ask permission Completely, Ive decided to place no more caches
  15. Surely this is all up to the setter. Setting caches is like seting any puzzle, the setter has to make an early discision reguarding the difficulty and the trouble it takes to arrive at a solution. Take for example the Times crossword, and those dumb premium rate questions they have on most TV programs these days. The times crossword is designed to be tough, the guy who set it wanted the solver to get a sense of achievement, and belong to that select group of times crossword solvers, however, the premium rate scam quizzes on the TV are just about numbers, the question is childishly dumb, everyone gets a rush of adrenalin (which is apparantly suposed to override their reasoning) when they find that they know the answer, and are driven to dila the premium rate number and part with £1.50... along with several hundred thousand others. Some warning about the difficult may be nice, but is by no means essential, thre is no need for a 'goverment difficulty warning' on anything (yet), and the caches already have a basic difficulty/terrain rating which should give you a decent guide anyway.
  16. I spent £200 and got a new Zire 71 PDA which includes a 1 Mpixel camera and Bluetooth, it came with Via Mitchelin Satnav (pretty much equal to Tom Tom), and a bluetooth GPSr. Added a 256Mb Mem card, a hard case CacheMate, CacheNav and Cetus GPS, with GSAK on the PC and have not looked back since, whole lot comes in at under £300 Ive also got Fugawi, but have since dropped this from the PDA and only use it on the PC reccomend this setup to anyone
  17. A path shown on a map is no indication of a right of way. No path shown on the map is no indication that no right of way exisits.
  18. do you really want to go out in the countryside populated by people carrying sniper rifles wearing a badge which is basically a circle with a cross in it?
  19. A rifle in a car is little more than a badly designed club. Its the handgun concealed in his jacket that would have been more worrying. I wonder how many foxes this guy kills in a night?, wouldnt be surprised if he was kitted out with night scopes either!
  20. true, though I expected that puzzle to last a little longer! <NOTE_TO_SELF> no more easy puzzles! </NOTE_TO_SELF>
  21. .....and was found within an hour and half, including the time to crack the puzzle
  22. important difference, though I would be more likely to believe that it was a Ford rather than an Audi. I dont Maroon is on the Audi standard colours chart.
  23. And there was me thinking my vilification of Fugawi would put you off Actually, I have found that apart from the frustrating slowness, that once youve learnt all the pitfalls and idiosycracies of Fugawi, that it is quite useable, Ive given up trying to use it on the palm, and now I know about the dual datumn pitfall, I am again fairly confident about its positioning. If you get any problems then drop me an email with your phone number, I can probably take you through most things quite quickly, if you already have GSAK, then your halfway there
  24. Sounds like we need to start Cache Aid, everyone could club together and post their unwanted Caches off to the Isle of Man.
