  1. Markandlynn. Thanks very much for your speedy answer and I really dont mean to be critical but with about 50 topics a page and at least 3 pages to plough through, I was rather hoping to get something a little more specific. Your second link may be better and i apologise again for the first response. Sorry.............Weary Banker
  2. Nice one Dave. I suppose that it just goes to show how much time you have on your hands!!! Subject to the right replies to our last post about activating new coins, we might have a nice new challenge for you early in the new year and now that Icarus seems to have left the puzzle scene, we may take up his mantle. Unlike Captains Logs, this time there will be no giveaway clues. Have a Good Christmas and a Great Caching 2007. Cheers..........John and Di.
  3. For my last birthday, Bookworm bought me some new Geocoins. Most I have now activated ( and there are some really nice new logos) but I now have a problem finding where to go for an activation code for the last two One is an English Geocoin Group English Egg shaped coin, the other is a Canadian Shark. Any ideas ? Then watch your new caches report anyone in the South West. We have some nice new coins to get out there. Cheers................The Weary Banker.
  4. I wondered if that was it. In that case, how do I reactivate it as an 'actual' as I could always attach the copy dog tag to something else?
  5. Hi Guys I have just had one of my rare checks to see where my Travel Bugs have got to and I find that one of them appears to be blocked. The official looking text reads:- The listing has been locked and is not accepting new log entries. Can someone tell me why and have I missed something? How do I get this unblocked please.
  6. Oh come on America, is there no one there who can help? It looks as if we are going to have to remove you from the journey.
  7. Hello and Greeting from England. I have written a Round The World Cache called 'The Magnificent Journey' GCRBPZ and one of the Journeyers is having problems finding someone in the area of North West New York State who will help him by finding a micro and passing on the coordinates it contains ( and thereby become part of his team and eligible to log the cache when he finishes it). There are currently cachers from around the world on the Journey but the one in trouble is one of your fellow Americans. I am sure that there must be someone in the area who would be interested and who has not been part of the hunt before and I am appealling to anyone in that area who is interested to contact me at journeycontrol@hotmail.co.uk and I will pass their details on. This will be on a first come first served basis although I will keep any other names on file for future need. If no one replies then we will have to remove this leg from the Journey, which would be a shame. Alternatively, if you feel like trying the adventure yourself from the start and would like a contact over here to get you started, email me at the same address. Bon Voyage..........................John aka The Weary Banker
  8. We love the commons in the Woodbury/Bicton/Budleigh area and there are some great caches around there but may be a word of warning from articles in the local press yesterday and nationals today. A woman has died less than two weeks after being scratched by gorse while walking her dog on the common. She contracted the flesh eating bacterium necrotising fascilitis. Earlier this year a yound Marine died from a similar infection after training there. The Army medics have also identified a rash picked up by some soldiers training in the area which they have called the Woodbury Rash. As the old station sergeant used to say in Hill Street Blues........................."Lets stay safe out there"
  9. Congratulations indeed especially on the timescale. I tried to get permission from the Peninsula Forestry Commission down here in the south west. It took me over 6 months to get turned down. If anyone else wants to try with them, let me know and I will send copies of correspondence. Cheers............
  10. We would like to thank all our geocaching pals for your kind wishes on our marriage / jumping the broomstick / pledging our troth / getting hitched / tying the knot ! We honeymooned in Menorca where there are only 2 caches, one of which is a drive to virtual. Well, we wouldn't have had time for any more. Di and John
  11. Excellent service. Thanks guys, I now have it up and running and I have to say that it looks very impressive. Is there an online 'instruction book' to show what I can do with it. I am thinking particularly, at the moment about, only showing caches that I havent found, for instance.
  12. I was recently told how good Google Earth was and how easy it was to get from the 'My Account ' page. I have tried to download the 'Geocache Browser in Google Earth' and it appears that I have downloaded a file but when I try to open it, I am getting a message asking what to use on this KML file. What have I missed or what do i do next. As you may suspect, it will be necessary to keep your reply in very-easy-to-follow language!!. Thanks...............John
  13. Nice one Davy Boy and especially as it was at the CITO event. Look out though,-we are only 600 behind you!! Cheers............
  14. Sorry for the delay in returning. Sorry , dont understand your first question. The cable that I have has a 9 hole connecter to the PC, if that is what you meant. I have done what you say and it says---Comunications port Com 1. So what do I do now?
  15. Good Afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen. I have a Garmain Etrex which until recently worked well passing waypoints from PC to GPS. Then I had to have a new harddrive and now the PC doesnt appear to know that the RS 232 series port connecter ( I think-anyway its the 9 pin connection one) is connected. I have downloaded the 'easygps' from the site but if I also had a disk to download when I first started to use the cable I can't remember it and although I have been through my box of old disks there is nothing that looks promising. So the question is a) Was there a disk to open a 'floating port' as its called on the easygps site ? If there was and I have lost it, is there anywhere that I can download whatever is needed.? c) Or have I done something else wrong? Although I would be grateful for any help, I would be particularly thankful if you could keep your answer in easy-to-understand-non-technical jargon as otherwise, I am afraid, it could go right over my head. Thanks...........
  16. So that there is no duplication of effort, I thought that I would post a note to advise that I am in the process of applying to the Peninsula Forestry Commission in Exeter for a 'blanket permission' for the use of their land. I shall keep this thread up to date with developements. Cheers...........
  17. At school the extra bit always seemed important and so 58 and 7/12 ths Bookworm was cradle snatched, shes two whole years younger. Cheers
  18. Coincidentally, I emailed them for the first time last weekend as I found a great hide in one of their forests. So far, I havent had any response. If you can find out from your ranger if their is another address I can contact, I would be obliged. Cheers......John
  19. Thanks for that guys. It must have been a senior moment as I say. It isnt worth going to any great lengths, I was just curious who was watching my new one.(GCPEG1) I think that I know why. Thanks anyway...........
  20. I understand that there is a certain hut, in a certain wood not that far from you that may be vacant about this time. There again there may be 'visitors' around and after recent events perhaps Ozzie wouldnt feel that welcome. For anyone who doesnt know what I am talking about have a look at GCPEG1 Cheers...........The Weary Banker
  21. I am sure that I have seen something on the geocaching site where you can find who is watching a particular cache. Now that I would be interested in this information, I cant find it. Any help would be appreciated or was it just another senior moment when I imagined it? Cheers......Weary Banker
  22. Thanks for your imput KB too I think that I followed most of it but whether I can do it is another thing. I shall have a try tomorrow. Cheers
