  1. Thanks G Force. Job done. But I am still curious. Did I dream about the Geocache.com new way?
  2. Seems okay to me....might have been a temporary glitch? I am still waiting for an update sent a day or two ago. Hence my thoughts turned to the new (?) one.
  3. I thought that I remembered reading about a new facility in Geocaching.com where we could map our cache finds county by county for our profile page. I am sure that it was within the last couple of months. As itsnotaboutthenumbers.com appears to be having problems at the moment, I thought that I would give the new maps a go but cant find any reference to it anywhere. Was I dreaming or is it another of the signs of aging that I have been warned about?
  4. Well Done on the 1000 and thanks for choosing our "Theres many a Slip" as the big one. Mind you, perhaps it is a cache more aimed at people of a 'certain age'!!! Your logs are always a pleasure to read and I wonder if you have started something with your recent poetic note on The Magnificent Journey. I am still working on a reply.
  5. One of our TBs and a Geocoin went missing and the cachers who had them would not respond to our emails. Both of the 'culprits' were Germans. When we went to Germany on holiday in September, we released 2 new TBs. Each consisted of one of those keyring clear plastic photo frames (about 8x4 centimetres) into which I placed a little notice in English with German on the reverse. It said " WANTED (Name of Cacher) FOR KIDNAPPING OUR TRAVEL BUG---DO YOU KNOW THIS MAN" The travel bug page gave fuller details. Within a month , the coin was placed back in circulation. The "Wanted" TB has been renamed and is now on its way home. I have had very positive comments from everyone who has logged them. I am still searching for a cacher called FNS however !!!
  6. Many thanks to scanker for his glowing reference and to Stuey for drawing it to our attention. We can certainly find somewhere for you in DORSET. Let us know if and what and when in due course.
  7. Thanks to everyone for their congratulations and to Jim and Jill for the bubbly, smoked salmon and the certificate. Off to Dartmoor this weekend and hope to get the next thousand well and truly started. See you all there Friday night. John & Di
  8. Thanks Andre . We wouldnt have got to the 1000 as soon without that great trip across to Jersey in March. Cheers..............John & Di
  9. Thanks very much for that reply Team Clova. Its always nice to know that 'its not just you' isnt it? I was beginning to think that I must have been cracking up. It seems as if the process that we have all used before is now available again but that on the day that I tried with the new system there was a glitch.
  10. I add my thanks. It loaded and works beautifully. I know what SidandBob are getting at, I think. The new facility is brilliant when you know the area, as it identifies the actual spot. But, for example, I have a 'notify' on for new caches within a 50 mile radius and it would be useful to know the general area first. Would it be possible to add the zoom facility? That would be the icing on the cake for me.
  11. BINGO Many thanks Team Clova. Your second suggestion worked. Thanks to Bolus Heathens too for your reply. The picture had an 'aeda' ending which I hadnt come across before rather than the usual 'jpg'. By following the second of Team Clovas suggestions, I got a version with the jpg ending that uploaded.
  12. Like everybody else, I think that the updated cache pages are great. However, I have just come across a small problem in the way that I use the system and wonder if anyone can help. I am something of a dunce when it comes to understanding computers but, by trial and error over time, I had learnt how to get a picture embedded into my new cache pages. I used to upload the picture first as an image onto the page and then open it and copy the image page address into my HTML as an <IMG SRC=>. This was a jpg address and all seemed to work fine. I am currently working on our 50th cache and today tried to upload a picture the same way but it doesnt seem to work and I notice that the webpage of the uploaded image is no longer in jpg format. Whilst I appreciate that I could start my own webpage and put the picture on there, this could be difficult for a computer dunce like me and I wonder if there is still a way that I can achieve image implant using the geocaching site. If you are prepared to respond to this cry for help, could I please ask that you keep your instructions very simple and in everyday language. Many thanks..................
  13. Congratulations of 1000........especially as one of them was our The Magnificent Journey Cache. When checking the records, I realised that I had missed you from the Roll of Honour on that cache and have just rectified that error. Thanks for your amusing logs. We look forward to reading of your next thousand exploits.
  14. No, not with Plusnet. I am aware that Spam is here to stay unfortuanately and I have had problems before with previous email addresses which I then closed down. I posted this item to see if anyone else had just started receiving this stuff. If a good number of cachers had, then this might point to a leak.
  15. The email address in our profile is used solely for caching. We have just returned from a 3 night caching trip to find 20 spam emails waiting for us. This has not happened before on our geocache account address. Has anyone else just started receiving this offensive junk?
  16. Our vote goes to Jersey too. We went over at the beginning of March and had a great weeks holiday. We had a chance of completing the full sweep of the islands caches but just failed. Now there are even more (including a few that we left ). The natives are very friendly too!!
  17. We were both really sorry to hear of your accident Jill, but you have a good incentive to make a speedy recovery as we hear that Jim is now doing the cooking !! Best Wishes John & Di.
  18. Thanks for the speedy response. Just what I needed. I just knew that I had seen something somewhere but couldnt find it. Thanks again...............John
  19. Could one of you computer literate cachers out there, please tell me how to get a background picture up on my new cache page. I have seen the 'source' for other caches that have a background picture and understand what is needed but when I go to the source of my new cache page, I am unable to add anything. What am I doing wrong. Thanks..............
  20. With regard to the original arrow, I am sure that one existed when I first became involved (2005 ?), but no matter, thanks for the other information. Cheers...............John PS. Sorry about the smiley face that appeared in my last message---it was not intentional !
  21. Thanks Edgemaster for the reply. I was not accurate enough with my question. I was not referring to the map at the bottom of the page ( in which the red circle appears) I was asking about the maps that opens from the new links that the gizzmo has included a) at the top of the page with main coordinates and from within the text section of the cache page when coordinates are given. By clicking on these links, I am getting a copy of the 1:25000 of the area but without any indication where the centre of the map is. Also, with reference to the map at the bottom of the page, I wonder is there any way of changing the scale of that map? Cheers..........
  22. Many many caches ago, I stumbled onto this topic and downloaded the useful gizzmo that put map links into my cache page. I seem to remember that it was not possible to get a pointer onto the map but then, through someones genius, it was all sorted. Enter new computer. I have just downloaded the gizzmo that puts the map links into my cache pages again but there is no arrow. Then, as I read though this whole topic, I see that there is a problem with a version of greasemonkey. My questions to the forum are:- 1) How do I find which issue of greasemonkey I have got and if there are any problems with it? 2) Is the little arrow still available for the maps and 3) If so how do I get it. Cheers.................
  23. Markandlynn Thanks again with apologies . I now have the Shark activated but I cant find the link for the 'English Geocoin Group' golden egg shaped one. If you are still speaking to me.........where do you think that might be? Cheers............Weary Banker.
