  1. That's interesting I didn't know any of that, thanks Lucilla so even if us "oldies" have not changed the status of our travellers pre when they changed the information on the TB/Coin page, they should still show as they have to be kept moving on and are not for peoples online collection. It just proves how many people must have "private" collections, it seems such a shame to me that people pay good money for coins and send them out into the the wild for the pleasure of others to see and they go missing.... M
  2. That could actually be a very valid point!! 6/7 years ago when I was sending my first travellers out on their journeys, the TB/Geo Coin pages did not have the information on that they do now...so9 yes maybe people who have found my TBs/Coins think that I have sent them out for other to keep...maybe there are millions of coins in peoples possession that they genuinely think are a gift to them as the more "seasoned" cachers have not changed the information on the travellers page to say it is not a collectible. Is it not polite to contact the travellers owner to ask though? Do most travellers not have some kind of information on their tracking page telling us what they would like to do? Hmm M
  3. I have a stupidly huge watch list for caches and travellers, and I get stupid amount of emails each day, so today was the day to clear off the caches I can't even remember doing and the travellers that are no more It was quite sad to see how many TBs/geocoins that had gone missing either being muggled/stolen/lost/sat in folks bags from 5 year ago and got me to thinking there must have thousands upon thousands of pound worth of travellers missing in action....I have lost a few quids worth myself A coin is £5/10 average, a TB tag is £5.00 even if you add a worthless item to it... I have about 50 Geo Coins in a book, do I let them sit there and collect dust, or send them out and hope they don't go missing? So a few questions... Do people still send out TBs/geocoins to travel? or are they a not worth the effort/cost/chance of losing them? In the early days of our caching Ground Speak sent out thousands of TBs promoting diabetes to counties/States all around the world, has anyone seen one of those lately? They can't all be missing? I must admit we have not seen one for a few years now... Then there were the Jeeps green/white and red ones? (I can't remember what those were for) Has anyone seen one of those lately? They were a great thing to find a few years back and everyone was battling to log one of those.. So all in all...Have you lost much money on travellers? Do you still send them out? Are they going to become a thing of the past? Mandy
  4. You may be quite surprised how many cachers have been "butt naked" out in the field....and none of them looked embarrassed to me M
  5. My local Argos store does a nifty line in short pencils, too. And if all else fails, the local greyhound racing stadium (which I have been know to visit from time to time) also has a goodly supply of very short ball point pens available. Not that I'm advocating that you all turn into geo 'tea leafs'... heaven forbid!! Ways and means John ways and means I remember some well known cachers writing on one of my caches log, that it had started raining while they were out and about so they were off to Ikea to stock up on pencils M
  6. I have seen us go out caching with half a dozen pen(cils) and not have one left to sign the log book with at the end of the day ... they either get left in caches that don't have one or leave them by accident ect There's always some way to mark the log book to prove you have been there, tear a corner off the back page, tear a circle out of a page, a twig, mud....I once burnt the corner of a page with my lighter, not that I am for one minute suggesting any of you become pyro cachers As for wet caches and caches I can't open I would take a photo or simply put a note on the cache page telling the CO the cache needs attention 90% of my caches had pencils in when I set them and they do walk....must remember another trip to Ikea is needed soon M
  7. The TB is on the move!!! We have 41 dogs playing Mandy
  8. You got it. 'Tis the only way. MrsB Thanks Lucinda I was just trying to be a lazy bugga and swap numbers, but I did not think it was possible but was checking to be sure OK will copy and paste the info to the new TB and use the old one for something else Can this thread be closed please Mandy
  9. There never was a previous owner, I am the owner of both TBs the one the traveller is attached to now and the TB I want the traveller changing to...........and the TB has not been released yet and does not have any logs yet Mandy
  10. I sent the following email to my local reviewer and he could not help me, so I am hoping someone in here might have the answer Looking for some info on TBs I dont know if I can explain this very well but here goes I have started a new Geo Dogs TB you might have seen about it in the forums...anyway Jacaru has very kindly offered me a "special" TB with a Border Collie on the back so I want to change the number of the traveller. Do you know if you can do that or not? Or is it a case of once you give your TB a tracking number your stuck with it? If it can not be changed easily I suppose I could always copy and paste the write up to the new TB tag with the collie on it and delete the write up from the original one and make that into something else I hope you understand what I am trying to say LOL Mandy
  11. And people keep telling me "I'm" mad You'll be asking me if it can join the Secret Santa next won't ya Diddi Nutter But hey if your horse wants to play add his name What other kinds of animal do folks cache with? M
  12. Beleive me I have had worse join my TBs stuffed dogs, cats I should just make it a "pets" TB I might be a bit dubious of Dragons though, the last time I saw a stuffed dragon it was covering Deceangi's ... err how shall we put it...his err...embarrassment M
  13. I have just been having a conversation with Rod from thekennel@79 about the Border Collie Rescue, some very interesting stuff on their website if your interested in another dog M
  14. The new TB is up and running. http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?id=1982915 I just need to add the dog/team names, then get a new photo of Jess laminated and it will be on its way.... Mandy
  15. There are some real blasts from the past on this thread, and it's great to see folks who did the original TB more than 7 offering to play again I am planning the TB page as I speak and I will send everyone an email about my mad ideas for your dogs I think I have about 30 dogs playing now but more are welcome M
  16. Ta muchly Wendy Is that two doggies Udo and Coco? Mandy
  17. WOW what a great response From posting this thread at stupid o'clock this morning I already have about 20 dogs and their owners who would like to take part in a posting Geo Dog TB I am pleased there are still plenty of nutters about When I decide how the TB will work I will send the information to those who would like to join Many thanks for all your replies Mandy
  18. It was seven years ago I did this.. http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?guid=314219b3-d769-45f4-9cbb-538f818d003e Even back then some people loved the ideas of my posting TBs and some did not but 100s of caching teams took part in my different posting TBs from kids/Adult Races, North/South Races, Men/Women Races, Caching Mobiles ect I am hoping to do some kind of Geo Dog posting TB again and was hoping to have about 50 teams play, if you would like to give it a go drop me an email through our profile. If you don't like the idea of posting TBs close this thread and move on but don't give me any grief Mandy
  19. Have you been peeking again Jon? At least I wasn't nekid this time M
  20. What ever happened to people realising that it was a beginners section where we all have to start somewhere. I beleive I did first post in the thread about being a newbie. Obviously its not practical to post questions in the forums where 90% of the members know the answers. Brings me back to common sense again. Langy, you have to forgive John, he is a grumpy old f**t (at least a week older than me and far more grumpy ) and his views on micros and nanos have long been known on this fourm. He is a very nice bloke without a malicious bone in his body :o (except where micros and nanos are concerned  ) and his remarks have to be taken with an exceptioanlly large pinch of salt. This place is exactly the right one to come to for your answers to questions about UK caching - but you do need to be a bit armour plated for some of the answers. We need more John's in this forum instead of the pussy footing/fence sitters we have now, even the two old "GoGs" are becoming softies As Dave said John doesn't have a malicious bone in his body, (just an odd surfners sense of humour ) but if he has something to say then he says it, is that not what a discussion forum is all about? John and the GoGs go back a long way, and they talk a lot of sense (most of the time ) the newbies could learn a lot from them, but if you ask a question in an open forum you have to expect folks to agree with you and folks not to agree with you, and give their opinions why. I have a good supply of metal knickers acquired from many years of using this forum. M
  21. Oh looksie my little event is famous Sheesh you have one day off from the forums .... Give me a shout through through our profile if you need more info, we meet the last Sunday of every month and have been doing so for over 7 years now!! Mandy
  22. Maybe they went to the same finishing school? I wonder if bluecorpius was one of their class mates? Welcome to the madhouse Saraya, for what it's worth I would have done exactly the same thing M
  23. After all, if others didn't bother to put out caches for me to find, there wouldn't be a hobby called Geocaching now, would there? If there were no "crap" caches then we wouldn't appreciate the "good" ones would we?
