  1. It has to be said, you're now more famous for your elusive knickers than your caches though Betty.... Jonovich. Well if folks are talking about my knickers Billy-Bob they are leaving my caches alone M
  2. I have a cache very similar to this which I bet a lot of folks in this forum did on their way to the Perth Mega, I don't think there has ever been a complaint about my cache!! If you feel the cache is not safe to do then don't do it ... common sense is actually quite rare these days My metal knickers are out of the washer but in the dryer so don't shout at me M
  3. Crikey... What-a mistake-a to make-a [slaps side of head with palm of hand] I know, really.... It's just that nobody has wound Dave up for quite a while... My sarcasm was lost on the Southerner again...you need to join the Scottish FB Forums John
  4. Shhh John it's a thistle (I think) the flower of Scotland It would still be a good photo without the "weed" too though M
  5. When the road is quite what? I could never wiegh in on this dangous cache, its not recemended and permission would be denined by Mr Hoomer, espaecially on Chrestmaz Day. Tut tut, at both of you. I will leave it at that as my metal knickers are in the wash
  6. That's a fab photie Dave Not sure about your grammar though
  7. Let's try this one again...is that allowed? I also have another one, when I find it
  8. I am bringing the date of the draw forward by one day to Saturday 17th November this is to make sure everyone gets the details of who they will be Secret Santa for on the Sat/Sun as I don't think I will be able to manage 100+ emails in half a day!! There are 107 teams playing so far, 2 weeks until the draw and 51 days until Christmas
  9. 102 Geocaching teams from all over the UK playing so far this year, 3 weeks until the names are drawn and 56 days until Christmas!!
  10. We have 99 Geocaching teams playing so far this year (still need one more for the 100 we were trying for!!) It is less than 3 weeks until the names are drawn and only 62 days until Christmas
  11. I am really trying to get to 100 teams playing this year (we are up to about 75 I think) I would like to ask any of our Santa's (or anyone who would like to help ) who use this forum if they could copy and paste the following into their local geocaching forum/FaceBook group ect. I am advertising in quite a few groups now but they are mostly oop Norf, I would appreciate any help .. please let me know which forum/group you copy the advert in to This will be the 6th year for the Geocachers Secret Santa!! (And the Doggy Secret Santa!!) Basically we buy a present/s for about a fiver put them into a container that can be used as a cache and post it to another player. So far this year we have about 60 teams from all over the UK playing (last year we had 92 teams) If you would like to join us you are more than welcome to check us out at the following link, you will also be able to see all the players and many photos from the past 3 years. To be able to see the forum you must register which is simply an email address and a password. (If after you have seen the forum you decide it is not for you I can easily remove your information) Try it you might like it, the more the merrier HO Ho Ho!! http://secretsanta2010.myfreeforum.org/index.php
  12. BUMP There are 70 odd Geocaching Teams playing so far this year 3 weeks until the names are drawn 69 days until Christmas
  13. 52 Geocaching teams are down to play (and about a dozen dogs) so far this year on the Geocachers Secret Santa forum Come on we can do better than that!! 90 days till Christmas M
  14. I have never looked at this thread on the forum before so a couple of questions if no one minds I have at least 50 geocoins I could sell, including the UKs First Mega event Gold, Silver and the LE Black I have two of each of these some registered some not, which leads me to my first question. Do people buy geocoins that have already been registered by their previous owners? I can't see why not I would as it is very easy to change the ownership of the coin once it is in your posession.. Do coins that have already been registered to a previous owner sell for a little less? Do geocoins still sell at all or are they a passing fad? I have seen a few coins on this thread that I have, all sitting in a file in a drawer gathering dust I have been after a Border Collie coin for quite some time now, (I know Jacaru had a batch made and I think there was a batch before those? if anyone has one for sale please let me know. Any help would be appreciated M
  15. Well thanks very much Jaki (I will get that big bar of chocolate in the post to you soon ) Really I am just the secretary I send the emails and draw the names, Jaki does all the techy stuff, uploads the photos and sorts out all the stuff I do wrong on the forum ... it works well for us As Jaki said above give it a go, the more the merrier Mandy and Jaki Santa's Little Helpers
  16. I asked Jaki if it was too early to put a note on here about this years Geocachers Secret Santa and she said "not at all!!" so here goes ... This years Geocachers Secret Santa is up and running, this will be our 6th year!! (We had 92 teams from all across the UK playing last year) You can find out all the details at our forum on the following link, where you will also find loads of photos and all the players from the last 3 years. http://secretsanta2010.myfreeforum.org/ Basically you buy gifts to the value of about a fiver place them into a container that can be reused as a cache and post it to another cacher..Simples If you would like more details please contact myself or Jaki at the following email address secretcachesanta@gmail.com According to the counter on our Secret Santa forum it is 100 days until Christmas :o Mandy
  17. Can I not delete my own posts on this forum any more?
  18. Many thanks for your kind comments, the photo was taken on by my hubbies HTC1S phone... I have to be honest here and admit I did not read the competitions rules properly and there is no water in the photograph, if you look carefully you can see the sunset is reflected on the top of our car and you can see the cars aerial. The one below was taken 10 minutes earlier at a different cache, again there is no water, seems like it was a good evening for photos just not for this months competition. I will leave the photos here (unless I need to delete it) as I thought it was a "corker" but please do not consider it for this months competition. Mandy
  19. A photo taken earlier this evening whilst out doing some maintenance on our own caches, we did not even have the camera with us this is just a quick snap from the phone, the photo graph does not give this evenings sunset the credit it really deserves as it was totally stunning
  20. I have few caches that I own that I am "passionate" about since being ill, we have gone from over 200 hides to less than 30 in a year... Two caches off the top of my head I would strive to maintain are Another Wee Cache ... we were very kindly given this container by Snaik, it took quite a while to find somewhere to hide it and gets some great logs and Irresistable Opportunity .. which we keep going in the memory of JerryO a local cacher who died last year Of course we have others we maintain, but these two are my favourite hides M
  21. Nope... it's in the right forum. Durham is in the north east of England and I'm sure Mandy or someone will be along soon to answer the OP's query. Oh that would be me then Hiya Toonburner, yep I am Mandy one fifth of Us 4 and Jess, and I am from Durham the one in the North east of England not the one in North Carolina in Yankland... Up until earlier this year I held a monthly event at Dunelm Ridge, Pity Me, in all honesty in all the time I had an event there no one brought their kids along the youngest person that used to attend was my youngest son who is 17, the pub does allow kids though until 9pm (When they stop serving food) in my humble opinion I think unless there were a couple of kids who could talk to each other, listen to music, play handheld games ect they would be bored out of their minds...as there is nothing there for them to do, of course you could just pop in for an hour to see how things go, as I say this is just my opinion. The Durham cahers have just this week opened a forum on FaceBook this can be found at the following link .. http://www.facebook.com/groups/436411913077968/ Pop in and say "hello" and ask any questions you need help with there, I am sure you will be made very welcome Mandy
  22. I think the flexibility thing could be right....i think we have all had some slaps on here in our time over the years, some deserved more than others, I think a lot of the more weathered cachers hold back in this forum because they know what has happened in the past...and the Yanks will always have us by the short n curlies and you really have to think before you type in this forum. Yes you can choose who you are friends with and who your not on FB, yes you can choose to read Fanny Adams threads but to ignore what Joe Bloggs writes about, but isn't that going to give your a biased answer to your questions ect, of course all of your friends are going to agree with you, doesn't this make the FB forums cliquey? If I ask a question in here to people I know and don't know at least some will say yes thats a fab idea because....and others will say no thats a crap idea because...and at least I can weigh up the pros and cons!! I left a regional forum lately because of the bad language, I don't need to read eff, peeing and blinding in geocaching forums, I always think my kids were 10 and 14 when we started caching and they started coming in here reading about this mad hobby/sport/addiction so there will be many kids on the forums reading the FB forums that are not moderated, also I think you have to be 13 to have a FB account? So that stops the younger kids, is that a good or bad thing? So maybe out moderated forum here is a good idea? There are loads of pros and cons both ways I think, but myself personally I use FB for daft games and nattering to friends, family ect and I use this forum for geocaching.....Simples M
  23. I totally agree with HH I live on FaceBook I am a Cafe World and FarmVille addict (yes I know it's sad but it keeps me out of trouble ) but I very rarely use FaceBook for anything to do with geocaching, I too think a single centralised forum which is made for the sole of talking about your chosen hobby/sport/addiction is best. Although if anyone wants to set up a Durham Cachers Forum on FaceBook I am sure I would join M
  24. You may be quite surprised how many cachers have been "butt naked" out in the field....and none of them looked embarrassed to me M I assume they were intentionally naked, as opposed to having done something like taken their pants off (for reasons that may or may not be clear to anyone else) and forgotten to put them back on again? Yes they were intentionally naked, raising money for charity, I did a male and female naked Geocachers calendar a few years back....it is surprisingly easy to get cachers to take their clothes off ..... each and everyone person that took part were brilliant sports and I can't thank them enough Mandy
  25. Are there any challenges specific for the North West Mega? I was wondering if anyone had made a challenge for the day...and if so what are they? I set up a very easy challenge for my events (both of which have now sadly been cancelled due to ill health ) for people to have their photograph taken with Jess.. http://www.geocaching.com/challenges/CX47A4_Smile_Jess We are hoping to get to the Mega if only for a few hours, so hopefully a few folks will be able to do our challenge there, we should be easy to spot a big white camper van with paw prints all over the front, a geocaching sticker in the windscreen, and two large magnet TBs on the back  Can the challenges be edited? Mine says to have your photograph taken with Jess at one of my events but I would like to change it to say any event/out caching ect...but I can not find antwhere to make the changes Mandy
