  1. The website shows as updated yeaterday, but my stats are still as they were before it went down in early September. I'm guessing it will catch itself up shortly.
  2. Are you subverting my avatar, you naughty Blorenges ?
  3. Soo.... to cap things, if he's no longer anonymous, and he's quoting caching stats, and talking about going caching, then its too late and he's already off the wagon, GPS in hand, and ferretting under a rock...
  4. That was good, I really enjoyed it. I am a regular listener to the original UK podcasts but this is also good to see doing the rounds. One thing, and I *really* mean it. The nice music was far better than the rubbish rock stuff, lol.
  5. I was doing a cache a couple of weekends ago, and found a tree shedding its chestnuts all over the floor. Lovely deep coloured perfect just fallen ones. So I gathered up 4 pocket and a bag full, fully intent on roasting some and scoffing that evening. On a whim when I got home, and I don't know why, I typed "Are conkers edible" into google, only to find I'd spent 30 minutes collecting the unedible horse chestnuts. Bumker. But at least I didn't poison myself!
  6. Its like being a drinker with a caching problem....
  7. There is nothing wrong with a nano cache, but I agree there should be a size category for cache setters to choose a nano size. I don't mind them in urban environs, but I know they can be annoying for many.
  8. I use a GPSMAP 62s Garmin unit, caters for my needs quite nicely...
  9. Thanks MBFace, it was so easy when I actually thought about it. A search by the scuba attribute brings up 13 caches in the UK. Must investigate further!
  10. Any easy looking cache near where I was, fits the bill of this discussion nicely! The worst being a nice looking cache in Tallin, Estonia last autumn.... since then I've really made an effort to do at least one cache in each country I have visited...
  11. dadgum, I'm not very good with GSAK and the likes... can you do one for me ? And yes, my interest has been re-piqued by the shoutbox on emcache
  12. Is it possible to search for caches by attribute ? I want to do a search for all caches in the UK with the Scuba attribute, for example. Ta!
  13. How do you get a list of the caches not found in over x long ? (say a year)
  14. icache.co.uk will help you to locate any caches in your area, its quite a useful tool.
  15. I walked into an overhanging branch and gave myself a stonking headache a couple of weeks ago, and what made it worse was that I had to DNF the cache because I couldn't find it anywhere
  16. Not the site right now, thats for sure! Anyone know whats up ?
  17. The site was extremely slow on Sunday and yesterday for me, although the forum servers were fine. Obviously the new hamsters were of an inferior quality to their predecessors. (They just don't make hamsters like that anymore?)
  18. Whats the gen on this ? Is it going to be a national thing, or just London (again!) ? Mind you, judging by the logs so far, we're not missing anything further north!
  19. Thanks for the help on this one. I've had a little bit of a play with some of the suggestions, and I've found that if I delete the current variants of gpx files from the garmin/gpx folder (whilst leaving the file in the current folder for history etc), then add all the different pocket query generated filed in one go so in my case three sets of the two files it works fine. So as long as you load them all into the GPS in one update, with a blank folder as the start point, it works a treat. Thanks again for the help. Simples!
  20. Can you do this ? I want to keep my home 1000 pocket query info on there, and then add other queries, up to the maximum waypoints that the unit can hold, but it seems that when I add another one, although the old files stay in the garmin/gpx folder on the unit, it only shows the caches on the latest GPX file that I've added. Can I make it show them all ?
  21. My first 150 caches were found using my TomTom sat nav that I use for the car. Fun, but annoying as it didn't do off road walking type directions and I had to manually match up the lat and long coordinates by walking around, which was very time consuming. The last 50 caches I have done using my new Garmin GPSMAP 62s, which is cracking. I wish I had bought one much earlier!
  22. Its absolutely dreadful at the moment, just took me 10 minutes to change screen!
  23. I bought a 62s from them about 3 weeks ago. I went to the place to buy mine rather than ordering over the internet as I wanted it in a hurry. If you go to the store, prepare for a wait, I wasn't impressed by the handling of customers in the showroom. But the product is a dadgum good price, so I can put up with that...
