  1. If you still think of yourself as a newbie then you are. If you feel like you are no longer a newbie then you aren't.
  2. I have to say, as long as your coordinates are accurate I don't give a rats rump how you got 'em.
  3. Let 'em be archived and then go get 'em. The CO has made it clear that they are abandoning them. You are looking at an opportunity to hide 1000 new caches for the locals to find. Don't wreck that chance by adopting the old ones.
  4. Or you can check out Prime Suspects Geolex. Link.
  5. Depends on where the guardrail is located. I'd be willing to bet, not as much as the mortgage payment, that 95% or more are pointless beyond the all mighty smilie.
  6. Or did you think I was going to take your car and park it in my back yard?
  7. That is hilarious. Sure is. But shouldn't that have been an anvil?
  8. There are two things seriously wrong here that have nothing to do with geocaching. Starbucks and instant. Two words that should never be combined with coffee.
  9. I found this site with a google search. Garmin Nuvi - True Paperless Geocaching
  10. Ammo cans work well in south Florida. They are technically a used item, so you get extra "Going Green/recycle" karma points. They have several points on them to attach a tether to, so you need not worry about them floating away in a flood, like a PB jar. The percentage of folks physically allergic to 7.62x35 ammo is even less than the percentage of folks allergic to peanuts. They can survive having a Toyota parked on top of them, where a PB jar will get smooshed. They can survive being mauled by bears looking for a chew toy, where PB jars get shredded. You can fit more stuff in an ammo can than you can in a typical PB jar. In fact, until we run out of ammo cans, I can't think of a single reason why I'd intentionally select a PB jar. I need to see studies on your premise. I think most folks have a strong, adverse reaction to bullets. But I will concede that the reaction isn't caused by the recycled ammo can. Unless someone is swinging real hard that is.
  11. Thanks for all the input folks. One of the reasons for the compromises is that it doesn't make sense to me to use 2 different unit on the motorcycle. Looking to get the most features I can in a rugged GPS that won't be junk the first time it's on the bike when the rains come up.
  12. Does it do turn by turn in the car? Looks like it's just for geocaching.
  13. Any advantages/disadvantages to any of these over the others?
  14. I think that it could be argued that you weren't quite right to begin with.
  15. Mostly for geocaching but would like to be able to use it for road routing to.
  16. What would be my best value on a GPS in the $200 range, give or take.
