  1. Qb V fgvyy arrq gb qrpbqr gur bayvar irefvba?
  2. I wish I could but I will be out of commission from Wed 4/11 possibly thru the weekend thanks to an Apicoectomy. I do look forward to the second group hike of the season though :-) Dave
  3. I picked up a 9' Sevylor raft on Saturday for $70, I tried it out, then took my son out for a while on the water, it seemed durable but they say 5 people can fit in the boat.... I think 2 people would be a stretch. I'm thinking about picking up a kyack as it might be easier to "stow and go". I'm going to be out of commission next Wednesday thru Saturday so I really want to get Cache Of the Dead Bum done this weekend.. looking forward to it. Dave
  4. Thanks guys, I didn't realize how close it was to my father-in-laws across the Delaware. (Barryville) Maybe I will make this a 3 or 4 state vacation! Dave
  5. In June or July I will be visiting Hamlin, PA - a place called "the Hide-out" or something like that. Is anyone familiar with the area? Know of any good caches nearby? I believe I am taking I80 out there from NY but I haven't planned anything yet. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Dave
  6. Brian, so why did you post? Last warning. Say Keystone, Do you have a good spaghetti sauce recipe? I've been trying to make a good sauce but I'm not happy with it. This discussion is no longer about Geocaching, so I figured we could talk sauce! Dave
  7. 4/23/2005 Cito and Come Meet The Frog LIGO CITO event was not as big as the one we had last week at the Edgewood Preserve but we worked hard despite the rain, the cold and then the humidity. Here is a group shot: and the trash haul: There were actually more bags left around various garbage cans in the park not to mention the fact that the park could still use some clean up. I hope I don't forget anyone but thank you's go out to JoeFrog, Miamc, Squealy, Macatac, Silvermarc, dboggny and his son Harry. If I missed anyone I appologize. Thanks, GPS_Dave, Sue and Joey too!
  8. Cool. Let me know. I went to Modells tonight to see if they had anything would be sea worthy enough but the one by me is small and doesn't sell any canoes/rafts..etc. Do you know a place where you can rent one? Otherwise, I may check out a few places to see if there is anything rugged yet inexpensive. Anyone else? Dave Edited to change see to sea. Edited to say "Anyone else?"
  9. Yes, I believe there was a new Etrex that was (not) introduced towards the end of 2004 or early 2005. I picked mine up in Feb 05 and it had the 3.00 software version. Starting with v3.00 the device is WAAS capable. Dave
  10. Tomorrow or next Sunday? Dave
  11. Cache of the Dead Bum I almost have every cache within 5 miles of my house done, this one is within 4 miles and it hasn't been visited since Nov 2004. Is anyone planning a trip to this cache? Anyone want to plan a trip? Anyone have a boat/raft/canoe? Figured I would ask before planning on it myself. Dave
  12. I meant to bring this up the other night but I couldn't think of anything funny... You didn't really say that... did you :-)
  13. I actually set out this evening to find out if anyone had similar issues with the Legend and low and behold it is on the very first page of messages. I upgraded to a Legend from a Yellow Etrex and have been carrying both for comparison. The Yellow Etrex works flawlessly, hardly ever loses it's lock... but then I will look at my Legend which will has lost it's lock. The Yellow Etrex will ready itself in just a minute or so but the legend needs like 5 minutes to lock on the sats. The Legend always seems to be atleast 5 feet (sometimes more) behind in updating my position. I can keep both around my neck, the Etrex seldom loses it's signal, 90% of the time the Legend loses it. I thought I was upgrading with the legend :-) Dave
  14. Ugh! My legend takes such a long time to get a signal, it loses it easily, forget WAAS. On the other hand, my Yellow Etrex is quick to grab a signal, can connect to the WAAS Sat and I hardly ever lose a signal... go figure. GPS_Dave
  15. My Yellow Etrex seems to be more accurate than my Legend. I hope you guys don't mind but my son just jumped up on my lap and wants to see the smiley faces.....
  16. The Yellow Etrex now has WAAS This is version 3.00 software/hardware Thanks, Dave
  17. Is this for one day or several days? Drive thru or do you want to make a day of it? with only 20something caches under my belt, I can only give you details on what I have done but you can make a day of hiking in the area of Bethpage State Park and then south into the Massapequa Preserve. Ditto on the West Hills County Park. Post what area and what types of caches you are looking for and the local experts can give you more information than me. Dave
  18. In any case, when do we rock and roll? Dave
  19. Joe, You told me you changed it because the Jersey people call you way too often. I think it would be a mistake as this may happen again. Avroair will tell two friends, and those friends will tell two friends and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on and so on...... I hope you have the Jersey calling plan. All calls to and from NJ are free.
  20. I picked up the Legend recently and haven't had any issues with it. The only thing I noticed that was different from my Yellow Etrex was that it appeared to update my positioning a little slower than the Etrex. I did a comparison by walking with both units. It was only a 2 second difference but just found it strange. I saw a few posts saying the Yellow Etrex does not have WAAS but I have it on mine (rev 3.00) Dave
  21. Ahh... Western Massachusetts. Pittsfield? Hinsdale? The Berkshires? As a child, I spent a great deal of time there. Mt Graylock, Balanced Rock State Park (I believe that's what they called it) There is an awesome waterfall there. I always thought it was beautiful up there. Can I go with you? :-) From what I remember and times might have changed in the past 10 or 20 years but I don't remember seeing any bears but we did see dear and rabbits early in the morning. I do remember some dogs but my Grandmothers cat stood up to them and they backed off!! (The dogs belonged to the neighbors) Dave
  22. I responded here yesterday but my message is not here!?!? A few weeks ago, I thought about adopting it although I had not even been to the cache yet. I'm in the neighborhood and drive past it to and from work everyday. After seeing that you went to visit it, I decided to visit it myself. I say go ahead an adopt it! I can always hold off on logging it until the adoption process is done :-) Dave
