The boys ( 12 & 14 ) got paint ball guns for Christmas and wanted, begged us to take them paintballing. My husband got a GPS for Christmas and we wanted to go out GCing... compromise ... we went shooting first and then we all went out GCing... At first the boys acted like they were bored , then when we actually got out there and started hunting they really got into it. The boys absolutely love the thrill of the "Treasure Hunt"... in fact my husband and I went out while the boys were in school today and they got a little upset because they couldn't go with us. I think now it is going to be a weekend event combining the two.

I really liked what you wrote. I copied it and saved it to my computer to show my husband and boys. Just curious though, if we do come upon a cache that we feel has dangerous items in it, what would be the appropriate thing for us to do? I would feel horrible if someone were to be injured because a child or like you suggested a prisoner on a work crew stumbled upon something that may have something in there he/she could use as a weapon. Thanks for replies and suggestions as to what you do in these cases.

Hi Everybody! Just like the topic suggests - We are TheOutofTowners - introducing ourselves and saying "HI". We are new to this GC and are having a blast. . Never heard of it until just about 4 days ago while I was on another forum and someone was asking if anyone wanted to go geocaching. My husband and I thought we would look it up on the net and find out what it was. I gave him a GPS for Christmas just because he likes tech toys and lo and behold we found something to do with it! We are looking forward to our GC adventures, as we like to travel alot, and will now have even more fun! Hope to possibly meet some other GCer's at an event or out and about hunting around. I will probably post ocassionally, but mostly lurk as I learn more by sitting back and observing. Please don't hold that against me. Besides as you can see by this post, I am long winded and you probably don't want to sit for hours reading just one post. Take care and God bless!
