  1. If using GSAK and a macro, use the cache owners ID number rather than their name as they can change the name showing on the cache page. Unfortunately neither this, nor using the ignore list will get them off the map.
  2. They are working again this evening. I guess it was an OS problem.
  3. When I open the Beta maps, a window opens on top of the map to tell you how wonderful Beta maps are (I'm just paraphrasing what it says - I'm not saying I agree with it) Could this be what is causing you problem? If so, there is a white X on a black circle on the top right hand corner of the window to close it
  4. Definitely broken again. It has been working for me with no trouble for the last month or more on FF 5 so its not that. Hopefully one of the Grease monkey script wizards can wave their magic wand over it and get it started again. AFAIK the failure didn't coincide with a Groundspeak update so it could be there has been a change at the OS end.
  5. PQ's always ignore archived caches. It's not a setting you can tick or untick they always do it. The only exception is the 'My Finds' PQ which will include archived caches which you have found. The easiest and quickest way to filter is, as Bear and Ragged said, is to sort by last GPX date and thase that havent been updated for a week or so are the ones that are archived.
  6. You should drop the first digit of the eastings and northings that come from the converter these 2 digits are replaced by the 2 letters in front of the map coordinates. If you do that the converter and the map coordinates agree.
  7. It's not walls as such it is Dry Stone walls that are the no-no. This is because over time walls could end up being demolished completely by people looking for caches. It is a UK rule because Dry Stone walling is much more common here than it is in other countries. There are plenty of caches in walls in the UK - nanos in cracks in the pointing or micros behind loose bricks for example. The potential for damage in these cases is far less than in dry stone walls, the building and repairing of which is a highly skilled craft.
  8. I've given out 19 and still have 180 left. I give them for a cache that I enjoy and (big one this) when i remember to click the box on the log page. I also still use 'DPM' for bad caches.
  9. What is the maximum number of caches set to in the PQ's, and are you sure you haven't gone over this?
  10. I have just looked at the regional fora of GAGB and there is not a specific Kent one but there is a South east forum. Hope this can help you
  11. My nearest is about 25 yds from my front door (12 yds from Garage door). Actually a bit of a cheat as it is the start point of a multi - not a physical cache. Furthest is 11799 miles with 30 finds greater than 4000miles.
  12. On Firefox 4, and maybe 3 as well but I can't check that, when you go to 'Manage Scripts' and get the list of scripts, Right click on the Map Substituter and Edit is the first one on the menu that pops up. I found the easiest way to find the bit to change was to copy and paste the original text from the post above into the search box and do a search. For me it went straight to the place I wanted. The second change (for the children) was already in the version I had so if it can't find the original text try searching on the new text to see if it is already there.
  13. EUREKA! and also Glory Be! How nice to have proper maps back again so we can avoid all the angst over beta maps. Thank you. Actually my version already had the 6 in line 87 so i only had to make one change.
  14. I am getting the Beta maps rather than the OS maps tonight. Is it just me or is more attention from Edgemaster required?
  15. Try a pet shop. They are used to put addresses and phone numbers in on dogs (Larger size) and cats (Smaller Size)
  16. Update your database with your PQ's and then sort it by the 'Last GPX' column. Any caches not updated in your latest round of PQ's are the archived ones since these do not show in PQ's so can be deleted. Simples
  17. 2 breaths, 30 chest compressions, or it was 3 years ago when I did the last course
  18. I seem to remember that there used to be a greasemonkey script to do this but Groundspeak broke it some years ago with one of their "improvements". Perhaps it could be resurected.
  19. Yes Broken for me too. I hope someone can get it working again.
  20. Pretty certain it doesn't. For that you need GSAK
  21. I can't say for certain about Etrex H but I have been using an old type Etrex for 6 years. The name is transferred with the coords and only that - no hints, logs etc. As for what the name is, it depends on how you download the coords. I use GSAK and have chosen to use smart names with A,B,C,etc added to the end for Child waypoints. But you could us the GC code (with the GCstripped off) if you prefer. If you can enter 500 waypoints in about 30 seconds - stick to thumbs otherwise definitely go for cable. I don't know about windows 7 - It might handle a serial converter with its own drivers but if it doesn't you will have to install from the disk which should come with the converter lead .
  22. Did you check the correct day to run? Remember there is an 8 hour time lag to Seattle
  23. It's not too difficult to write a GSAK macro to delete any cache that is a micro with Ivy in the hint or title and call it at the end of the PQ download macro. Problem solved
  24. It is very easy to sort out archived caches. Sort on the 'Last GPX' column and any caches not updated in your latest set of PQ's will be the archived ones so yo can filter on the Last GPX date and delete them.
