  1. A la Smothers Brothers' "Cowboy's Lament": "I can see by your GPSr that you are a geocacher." "I see by your GPSr you are a geocacher too." "We see by our GPSrs that we are both geocachers. If you get a GPSr, you can be a geocacher too."
  2. You're crazy. No one is going to get in trouble for stealing a cache. It's called ABANDONED PROPERTY. No one would ever get prosecuted for cleaning up trash left in the forest. "Crazy" is a little harsh. Especially since you are wrong. Caches are not "ABANDONED PROPERTY"; they are placed property. If the guidelines are followed and permission is obtained from the property owner, the cache is placed with a purpose and maintained. If you park your car in a long term lot it is not "ABANDONED PROPERTY". The only thing about which I agree with you is that there is little likelihood that a cache thief will be prosecuted; even if they steal it out of your parked car.
  3. John Brandon lives in Minnesota. He has a geocache within a mile of his house. Maybe it's one he moved for kicks and you will do it soon?
  4. I'm the dog. Great costume, eh?
  5. With regard to Waymarking, I just don't want to play another game. I don't have enough time to do all the geocaching I want, as it is now. Virtual caches are cool when I travel with the Scouts or with the family because they are quick to locate, and are often located in places we go where a regular cache would not be appropriate or practical. A multicache with virtual stages does not have those same advantages.
  6. Just when it started to come together....the maps are tiny again.
  7. This is like herding cats.
  8. I suggest a scientific test of this theory: bring back virtual caches and see how many complaints you get.
  9. I like Virtual caches. Bring them back to Geocaching, please. They allow cachers to bring our game to interesting places where a physical cache is not practical or appropriate. I have never tried Waymarking. I don't want to play another game. I want to Geocache. And, I like finding Virtual caches. I know a lot of other geocachers like finding them too. So what, if there is no container and no log book. It's not about the containers, the logs, the locations, or the numbers. It's about the fun. Virtual caches are fun
  10. I understand the new cache page look is still in flux. A few things I would like to put my two cents in about: There is too much open space at the top of the page. I don't care for the "Cacher's description" heading. it seems redundant and looks awkward with some cacher's names like "bobndwoods's". It really doesn't contribute anything to the page. Yahoo Maps are great. They need to jump to the top of the page in the "printer friendly" version please. And, the GC# needs to be on the printer version too. The area maps are ok. But, right now they look too tiny to be read. I think this is just a temporary glitch. Thanks for all the good work. Bob
  11. Bluelew and Goochman came buy the store yesterday and asked about Alacache. Gubbool also called me yesterday. There are a bunch of folks wondering about the situation. I don't know if other Alacache folks are communicating by alternative means, but right now the only place I've been looking for information is here. I understand that Jeff has a lot on his plate, and I appreciate (as I'm sure many others do) his hosting the site. But, if anyone has news of the actual status of Alacache or how others are staying in touch (if at all), I would be thankful for a word dropped in this thread. I can then pass that word on to others with whom I come in contact. Thanks.
  12. Does anybody know what the story is with Alacache yet? I'm starting to develop a tic.
  13. AAAAAAAARGH!!!!! (sigh) It's still not working.
  14. I kinda thought that was the problem....again. Bummer.
  15. I think the Alacache site is down again. AGA folks with info can check in here.
  16. Well, that explains alot. Thanks for the work, Jeff.
