  1. Hello all, I am using a ipaq 2210 with bluetooth GPS and being using GPS tuner by Megalith for geocaching , with pretty good success ( only been out looking for 3 so far ) My problem is with the GPS tuner software , I get the GPX file e-mailed to me from the Geocaching website , the one I chose had 300 caches , but when i ask GPS tuner to import it it does not show any waypoints or geocaches ? I opened the file in EasyGPS and they were all there ! also saved it as a .loc file but still no success with GPS Tuner . Anyone got any ideas ? Cheers Crazycucumber
  2. I would have thought that This is the most EVIL place ? check the long / lat co-ords ( decimal )
  3. Sorry , but that was not a personal attack, merely pointing out that most of the people on this thread have added some constructive comments. The 4x4 argument invokes alot of anger on both sides of the fence, this was never supposed to be about that argument , just a thread to ask experienced GC'ers where I could find such locations. A few points I have thought of while reading through my thread:- 1) I walk and I drive , both methods provide a challenge. 2) Its only mud 3) Grass grows back Thats all I am going to say on this thread as I got the info I was after ( thanks to those who gave it ) and all thats going to be discused now is how harmful or not my car is, I do not care for such matters. Have fun and stay fluffy.
  4. I'm sure they all are......but, If you want somewhere where four wheel drive is actually required, try the middle east. May I suggest that when you have something interesting to say , you log on and add it to the forum. When you are bored and try to make up some funny / sarcastic post .....keep it to yourself. Your not really adding to the discussion , just wasting webspace and users time to read your useless comment.
  5. Oh Boy ! I should of guessed that I taken a hornets nest and shaken it ! To qualify my original question , I jsut wanted to know if there were any on legitimate routes , I too enjoy walking , but dadgum it shoot me down if I have more than one hobby ! 4x4 arguments go on and on forever with green types and alike , all the cliche material is dragged up :- " School Run " , "fashion box on wheels " etc etc I do not believe this is the place to have this argument , and thought that the diverseness of the geocache community would welcome a different way to find cache's , opening up the sport / hobby to a wider audience. To all those that contributed in a contructive way without having to recall a story where a 4x4 ran you over to get to a cache before you ! THANKYOU I will be trying out some of the suggested routes as soon as I can ( give me a wave if you see me ! ) I may even walk some of them!!!! Be nice a fluffy all. CrazyCucumber.
  6. At least your Byways are open ! Bedfordshire decided to close most of theirs Always on the lookout for ones I can drive though ( close to Bedfordshire )
  7. Cool , glad to see there are a few I can do . Looks like I will have to plant a few Caches on some 4x4 routes too. Deego , There is a nice little pay and drive site near me in Bedfordshire called Devils PitPictures of me on it Here ( you need to click on the My Toyota Hilux Surf menu Option ( and nothing else !!! ) Thanks for the info guys
  8. I am new to this Geocaching lark , and found my first two last weekend with a nice walk in Maulden woods. I was just wondering if there were any GC's hidden on routes accesable by 4X4 vehicles ? As I think this would be fun too ! Prehaps its not in the spirt on Geocaching , or maybe I have found a whole new sport !!!! Cheers Crazycucumber
  9. I have the now discontinued Ipaq 2210 , I have only Had it since Chrismas , but absolutely love it , the range of software available gets better everyday. Sync in a breeze. Battery seems to go on forever even with bluetooth connected. Plus the benefits of having a SD & a CF slot is a real bonus. I would buy pocket PC everytime. I currently testing GPXSonar , GPS Tuner , and tomtom navigator. CrazyCucumber.
  10. Thanks for those other suggestions, I will give them a go before buying anything. I did have the problem with Tomtom locking up , but on the GPS tuner FAQ's it says you have to unistall the TomTom GPS driver as this holds the GPS Com port locked open so no other apps can use it. But as you say you still can't run them both in parallel AFAIK. If this hobby becomes an obsession i will probably stump up the cash for a nice handheld dedicated GPS. we will see ! Thanks for the advice . CrazyCucumber.
  11. I Originally used my nick name Sparks on Forums and online communities but it appeared I wasn't the only Mark to have a Spark related nickname, so one dark evening about 2 years ago , my wife and I tried to think of a funny or catchy website name after several hours of " name already in use" we came up with CrazyCucumber.com and from that moment on I would be known as Crazycucumber all over the web ! ( nb can be embarrasing when giving out your e-mail address to companies !!!) Thank you Mark, Zoe and Jack
  12. I stumbled accross this piece of software at http://www.gpstuner.com/ I downloaded the trial and it seems pretty good. Just wanted to know if anyone has used this in the field ? I will try it out when I get a chance and let you all know if not. Cheers CrazyCucumber.
  13. Hello all , started Geocaching today , and found my first two caches, But did not have the easiest time finding them. I got Bought the Ipaq 2210 and tomtom Bluetooth Navigator pack for Christmas to do my routing on the road , then came accross geocaching and thought it would be fun to try. First problem is it seems I have to enter in co-ordinates in Degrees Mins and secs , so have to convert them first from the geocache site. Unless someone knows otherwise. As the software is really for roads, i guess it is of little use to me , I have used the POI to enter the cache locations , then used a combo of the map and the GPS co-ords to try and work out where it was. The Coordinates didnt seem to update very quickly and the compas / directional arrow jumped around lot . Any help for a newbie would be appreciated. Thanks Crazycucumber
