  1. I love my Garmin 12. A big plus for me is that it will run on 5 volts, so I can power it from the PS/2 port on a laptop. One disadvantage is that, when using its GOTO feature it displays only to the nearest 0.01 km. Have you checked the product comparison feature on Garmin's website? It's useful.
  2. The main street into Whistler is Village Boulevard. It intersects Hwy 99 at 50 deg 6.972 minutes and 122 deg 57.57 min. WGS-84 Enjoy your trip!
  3. My iPAQ, running OziExplorer CE works like a charm! The iPAQ easily manages scanned or other digital topo maps of almost any size (I've used maps 24 Megs in size) and its screen is easily readable in sunlight.
  4. I highly recommend Ozi. It works well with scanned maps and other digital maps including Toporama. You can also create maps by converting and calibrating screenshots from Streets & Trips. As well, OziCE is a slick off-shoot that works with PocketPC devices. Good luck!
  5. Hey, cyberhawk, thanks. That's a big improvement over the 10 metre resolution of mine. +/- 10 metres means my GPS only indicates if I'm within about a 66 foot circle of the target. I know I can't expect a new unit's accuracy to match the display's 1 foot resolution, but it's got to be a big improvement.
  6. I'm considering upgrading - now have a Garmin GPS 12, and thinking about a 76 or V. My questions: 1. What is the distance resolution when using the "Go To" function? My GPS 12 displays only in 0.01 km or 0.01 miles. I'm hoping the more sophisticated units will display down to 1 metre or less. 2. What is the maximum distance those units will display? My 12 display is limited to 9999 km. Thanks in advance!
  7. What version of Streets are you using? I recall hearing that the 2002 version fixed the problem of mis-located markers that occurs in the 2001 version. I have Streets 2001 myself, and I've seen the problem firsthand, but I have not used 2002, so I can't attest to the fix.
  8. I'm using a laptop with my Garmin 12. The beauty of my lowly G-12 is that it runs on 5 volts, and is happy to get power from the laptop's PS/2 port. I'm using a home-made communications and power cable between the laptop and GPS - bought some Garmin connectors from a pfranc site, where you can also get wiring instructions. Works great!
