  1. I want to buy new GPS. I see the new Garmin62 is $399. I can get a 60CS for $219. I see Garmin has discontinued this model. I'm just getting started in geocaching. My friend has the 60CSx. Can I go wrong buying the cheaper model? As long as it will download waypoints from my computer with USB. What is difference between CS and CSx?
  2. I started making really interesting and clever caches. I would show my friends. They would be amazed. When our grandson saw one of my caches he went crazy. He wants to go out looking for treasures as he calls them all the time.
  3. Perfect. That's what I thought. I'll log out then set up new account for grandson. Thanks for your help everyone.
  4. I want to get my grandson started geocaching. He doesn't have computer. Can I set him up with a basic membership on my computer? And then view both our profiles from my computer?
  5. You might want to check out a couple of my caches. Rusty is a nice hike. Penn & Teller, and Pinky Undercover are pretty interesting.
  6. Is there really a Wally World? Your right walking miles will kill you. Here's a hobby for you. TV.
  7. Finally someone speaking my language. Thankfully I live in CCW country. I carry my XD45 everyday, everywhere. especially geocaching. Pepper spray? Are you kidding.
  8. Here is my opinion. I have 6 caches. 5 are PMO. One is on my property so I don't want alot of traffic around my house. Next is I put some effort in making and designing my caches so I hope Premium Members are a little more serious about taking care of my caches than the general public. I try and make them people proof but alot of people don't put things back the way they found them. If I just take a pill box and throw under a pile of rocks I wouldn't care. But my stuff is a little more unique than that.
  9. Yes I agree. When I found my first one I was surprised they even could lift up. Now if I suspect is a LPC I won't even bother looking.
  10. I found a water tight container the size of 35mm film canisiter. It is the end cap for drip line irrigation. One end has nice cap with washer. The other end is open. I put a penny inside then use industrial glue to glue it in. Cap is only $1. Glue $2 and I use the glue usually on other areas of caches I make. Very sturdy.
  11. I have wondered. You hide a cache up in steep mountains in a precarious spot. I have found some like this. So a geocacher goes up there and falls to there death. I would say 100% there family is going to sue you for gross negligence. And some of the places I've found them in I think a jury of muggles would agree it wasn't safe.
  12. I would say find a different location. Why take on a headache. It's a game remember.
  13. I'm not a lawyer but we all know you can be sued anytime for anything. I have wondered about it myself.
  14. Sounds like you would like prison. You could spend years trying to figure out how to tunnel out. Then years acutually doing it.
  15. I did hide a cache on my property. At first it was in eyeshot of my garage. I thought that wasn't a great idea for people to see me your my wife coming and going. Who knows who is coming around. so I moved it to back side of property. I also made it only available for premium members just to limit the traffic coming close to my property. Its nice having it close for maintanence. I have 5 now all very close to my property.
  16. Yes, the nearest caches will show up that way as long as you change your preference back to "Find Nearest" from alphabetical "Find by Name." That's what I did when I was last in LA and cached on Catalina Island a few months ago as well as on many other trips. If you look for other waypoints while there (landmarks, restaurants, etc.), remember to use the cursor on the map to locate them or you'll be limited to the nearby radius. Glad it worked and that we could help no matter whether it was a 60csx or an Oregon. Thanks again. I'm off to Calif for fun and geocaching thanks to you guys for your help.
