  1. I used a lot of the cammo duct tape. Now days I use mostly Krylon cammo paints. Quick, easy, and looks better.
  2. I agree. The other site looks like they put all the topics in a bag and shook it up. The forums here have some problems but I honestly think this was a step in the wrong direction. I don't know why this would get deleted as long as it doesn't turn into a name calling mess.
  3. I don't think the OP was talking about maintaining an abandoned cache but rather helping out with an active cache that has a day to day type problem.
  4. While my response doesn't really answer your question, your inquiry made me consider the obvious: Why would you want to? Film cans are the poster child of crappy containers. Take pride in your hide. While no one can force you to use a quality container, I can assure you that those who seek your caches will thank you for making the extra effort. There are many containers available that can be acquired for very little $$$, that hold up much better than film cans. I have to agree with Clan Riffster here. Your caches will last longer and be more well liked if you use a better container.
  5. No matter how much they eggs you on?He is such a hardcore cacher...he wouldn't even waffle...Orange juice glad he's so dedicated?I'm glad y'all have hashed this out.If it didn't work out this thread might have been toast.Yeah, they could have been in a real jam.Not something you could get over easy. The whole thing is enough to fry your potatoes!
  6. No.... plastic/fiberglass cans don't meet Mil Specs. And for good reason, judging by the ones I've seen.

  8. I don't know much about letterboxing but I have always heard that if you want to be respected in that community you carve your own stamps. Ordered stamps are frowned upon. At least that was the way I heard it.
  9. Most people would not have a problem with it. That said there is one in every crowd.
  10. The reply button at the end of each post quotes that post in your reply. You are replying to that post. The add reply button at the bottom of the thread doesn't quote anything. You are replying to the thread.
  11. Try the "Knowledge Books" linked to from the bottom of each geocaching.com page.
  12. Not that it really matters but I'd say the first one to actually find the cache is the first to find it. Can't find what isn't there.
  13. Have you asked the cache owner? It has long been considered "bad form" to come to the forums looking for help solving a puzzle cache.
  14. I have one similar but with 136 preforms with paper in them, in a bucket with a screw off lid. You have to find 6 preforms that give you a number for the next coords. I called it "Twist & Shout" I'm not a big fan of these types of hides. I just don't understand the enjoyment a co gets from getting folks to spend Lord knows how long tryine to find the right container. It seems a bit sadistic. Of course I understand the fun some folks claim they have finding these even less. That just seems masochistic.
  15. If I ever find that I am going to put the log in a different film can an the report a wet log. We'll see how you like it. oh thats mean! at least it isn't 3000 film cannisters in a 55 gal barrel that you have to find the one with the log. Hey! Turnabout's fair play.
  16. You had a paddle-caching event yesterday, too?!? We didn't have rain, but did have fog most of the day. We had Minnesota's 3rd Annual Canoe-in Geocaching event, hosted by bflentje and it was awesome! Good thing you didn't get rained on. I hate that wet dog smell.
  17. OK, the chicken fried bacon was bad enough but someone sent me this picture a few minutes ago. Turtle burgers.
  18. If I ever find that I am going to put the log in a different film can an the report a wet log. We'll see how you like it.
  19. If you are taking it to another park I would archive it and creat a new cache page. My rule of thumb is that if I do anything that substantially changes the experience I start over.
  20. Deet, it's not just for breakfast any more.
  21. Thanks! Your pocket query has been saved and currently results in 467 caches. GOF, you obviously live in a slightly richer area than me.. 42 078 Right in the city. I wonder ho many more there would be if we didn't have Lake Erie taking up such a large chunk of that ten mile circle?
  22. I don't think anyone is saying that this happens all at once. You may have gotten that idea from my post about the show on the history channel? The O was just looking for a term for people who trade down a cache or just take without trading. Something in addition to "geocacher".
