  1. Did anyone ever stop to think about the fact that "people of the law" also practice GeoCaching??? (Only their way to "log" a Cache is to blow it of the planet.....) I can allready see the stats hangin' in the headquarters....
  2. Praise MysteryLady & Milbank for sharing those pics. with us.......they're SWEET!!!!
  3. This almost sounds like a good solution,but.... When I'm out with my Garmin and it has run out of battery power (and believe me,that takes a long, long time) I can put in a fresh pair and I'm of again. How long does it take for the explorist to come to a complete charge???(providing you don't want to run around with a battery-pack bunglin' on your GPS)
  4. @TubeMonkey: I'm totally on your side!!! And how about this......just because this is the GC-forum doesn't mean that everybody who uses a GPS,uses it to go geocaching for 2,4,6-or so hours a day.... I think there are a lot of people out there who use their GPS for a variety of other things...(think about army, rescue work, mountaineering and so on). So if you're out for a couple of hours, you don't care about taking solar backup-systems or fuel powered generators??(yeah, right!!) but for some people every ounce counts!!! And then for the mileage.....personally I like to take walks for 10+ hours and go out camping when ever I get tired, without the convenience(??) of a car,and make no mistake about it,because there are a lot of people who like to go out walking all day... I have a Garmin 76c and with 4 AA batteries I can go on and on and on and......well you'll get the idea!!! Edit:Sorry if I sound negative about the explorist 500....apart of the battery "problem",I think it's a wonderfull device!!
  5. @MysteryLady: sorry to hear that your device allready has to be replaced.. (that really sucks big hairy one's) Hope that you will still find the time tonight to give us all you got!!!(information wise offcourse)
  6. Yes....you probably are!!!! (but you're also doing us a HUGE favour!!!)
  7. FINALLY!!!!! The first pieces of useful and factual information on an explorist 500... All hail to JohnnyVegas I'm dying to hear of your report on field-testing the device!! Awesome that one can load one giant, big, huge, enormous map on a 1gb card...pretty soon the 2gb will be selling for a nice price and before you know it you can load all of the world into your GPSr... I wonder how long it takes before the battery runs out...(this sounds like the only shortcoming for the explorist because, like tubemonkey says, these things are made for the outdoor and I must yet encounter a tree in which I can put a plug up his a**)... other than that......sounds really sweet..... Keep that info coming,O great JohnnyVegas!!!! And lets have some pictures while your at it!!!
  8. I wonder whats going on when you arrive at waypoint "sex"??? (HeHeHe.....post the coördinates of that waypoint on this site and do your fellow-cachers a favour!!)
  9. Well at that point you're on PayPal's site, so I would guess something's not set up on your PayPal account. Maybe you need to transfer money to your PayPal account first? Nope....that's not it!!!! There's money in my account.... (someone correct me if I'm wrong, but could it be that everybody here who is a premium-member has a creditcard???) (or...at least everybody who became a member using PayPal!!)
  10. If you used the search option, you would find this topic which will answer all your questions!!!
  11. Well if I go to the subscribe-page and I press the PayPal button I have to "add" a creditcard to pay.... (I can transfer money directly from my bank-account to my PayPal-account) And I don't want to send a check or money order from Holland because that will cost me almost as much as an annual membership!! There's a lot of talk about this issue on the dutch geocaching forum.... (btw,I allready ordered a lot of stuff from the US of A using PayPal and that worked like a charm,it just doesn't work to get a membership........I also bought GSAK last week using PayPal,and no problems there either!!!)
  12. Hi, I would like to become a premium member and I do have a paypal account, but I don't want to send money via money order and I don't have (want) a creditcard... Why isn't it possible to just transfer money via PayPal??? I just don't understand.....I mean....,money is money, isn't it???? And if it would be possible to pay via PayPal (without owning a creditcard) I'm sure a lot more people would become premium member!!!! I know a lot in Holland would!!!! Greetings from The Netherlands...
  13. IN THE NAME OF ALL THAT'S HOLY, what can be more important than the everlasting and undying gratitude of thousands of GeoCachers all over the world waiting for those little pieces of information and maybe a foto or two about those little pieces of electronica they call "the explorist"??? Eastern?????Eating????? MY GOD!!!!!!! It's eastern TWO days a year......and you eat THREE times a day!!!!!! But only once so often there is a device released which could change the way GeoCachers experience their beloved sport FOREVER!!!!! So.....pretty please.....with whipped cream and a cherry on top.......GIVE US ALL YOU GOT!!!!! WE WANT HALF!!!! by the way....have a nice easter and greetings from Raoul (who likes to put a little drama in it!!!
  14. It's all good!!!! Since JohnnyVegas has ordered the 500,we will first read a review on his gps and then, when your 600 arrives, you can pleasure us by slapping your review on the forum..... Now.....let's see the reviews!!!!!
  15. ......IS IT THERE YET?????...... (sorry....writing this message from the Netherlands,I just saw that it is 4.51 in the AM over there with you guys..... ......sleep tight!!!!)
  16. Yep....I'm with Hemlock!!! Take a walk on the wild side and pick up that phone!!!
  17. I had the same problem with my 76c when I was using low quality batteries, but since I've been using GP2300mAh there are no more problems of such kind!! Greetings from the Lowlands...
  18. Yep....I must agree with Rubberhead on this one..... And the reception will definately be better on the 60c(s) compared to the vista!!!
  19. Hope it will arrive soon, and then........HAVE FUN!!!!!!
  20. I must admitt, even though I have a map 76c which I'm very content with,I'm also very anxious to read the first user reviews on the magellan 400/500/600!! just thought I let y'all know!!
  21. 1) Well,I wouldn't say that the 60c(s) is more durable..(check out the antenna!!) 2)No,these two do not take additional memory cards (I think there are some Garmin car-GPSr's that take sd-cards) 3)Take your pick.....they're both top of the bill....(the 76 has a bit larger basemap though and 115mb in stead of 56) hope I've been of some help.......oh yeah,and......welcome in the wonderfull world of GeoCaching!!!
  22. I thought mapsource was allready in the standard package???
  23. Have lots of fun with it and remember when you're lying in bed late at night, dreaming of all the caches you've found with your GPS and you feel someone pulling your shorts......it could very well be that woman who was once your girlfriend!!!(before you discovered the sensation of the map 60c) Well anyway......have fun with either!!!
  24. Thanks Timpat, for sharing these pictures with us.......looks really neat, that case!!!
  25. Anyway....as soon as someone has the 400/500/600,do your fellow cachers in arms a favour and get that info we want so badly on this site!!!!
