loading national geographic topo on my map60. can it be done?
stude replied to stude's topic in GPS technology and devices
I been looking at the latest garmin maps . I have a 4yr old mapsource topo . Would the park one show the forest near the parks and its roads? I would like to know if a road is near when I go romping through the brush. I go to the snoquamie mt.baker national forest and not any parks. The sample that garmin doesnt help much. Thanks lots for your help -

I really like that map over the garmin topo. It shows more of the logginf/forest service roads. Thanks -
I see it now. Now you know why I always get lost. Thanks. I wonder what the hole was for? Think I'll do some reading.

I see no slot on the side .Mine was hooked in the hole but got easly pulled out..Maybe a plastic tie will work. I just thought since it happened so easly someone had a better solution.

Does anyone have an address for the data base for the bearing tree in Washington state? I found the brass marker and tree today while cutting wood.Do they need to be reported?
-
I cant tell you that but I use the topo mapsource for my mapping. It shows the streets also.

This is a very bad idea! go do it.Then ask your commander if he would like to go on a find after the location was posted for anyone to read. Also a Gps reciever can be connected to a bomb.Locations hey why not a mess tent. You can leave me out on this one.

I went from the yellow etrex to the map60 .I had lots of trouble with reception in wooded areas and having my thumb over the top part. The newer gps60 is lots better.

I'm 100% garmin now.I had trouble with the map being off ,contacted them by the correct error reporting channels. No reply and also my mapping software is useless for trails. How can I use a trail that is a river. Now,can it be trusted for accuracy in other areas? It wasn't a setup issue 'cause some areas are good. I've had no problems with garmin. -
my first etrex fogged up and stopped .I got a new one for $50.This was a few years back and off warranty.Dragging it in the saltwater while kayaking didn't help it much.

Ok,now that I got all that.Finding a pile of rock with a mine in it that has been overgrown and abandon for 40 years shouldn't be that hard. But with the old location description from then and converted to gps it's a challenge. Thanks Hey,I'm doing better with cashes!
-
I can't answer that but if you change the format in my gpsmap60 all my stored locations change also.So it must recalibrate some how.

I think I'm ok with the datum but I'll check it.
