  1. I would also like to thank our HOSTESSes and Host for the wonderful time I had. You guys and galls really are the best. Thanks again!
  2. And is the other hand holding an Oregon? No. That's one of those older GPSr's (I want to go to Oregon!) OK, He is holding hands with a frog, but what is that frog doing to the fire hydrant?!?!!?
  3. We did get 1 FTF on the run. A very nice tribute cache.
  4. Yowsa! Way to go Pete and Bev! 2000! Whoo Hoo! Hootie dance!
  5. Hello, my name is Doug, how do you like me so far ? I really try to make a good first impression as when you hang out with the evil, wicked, nasty(read North), wonderful, kind, caring, sweet, interesting, knowledgeable, smart, good looking (read South), evil, wicked, nasty (oh wait, we already covered them) people that we all are, a good first impression is likely the only good impression you will get. Anyway, welcome to our happy family of cachers. We really hope to get to meet you so we can dispel any of the positive things any one may have said about us! Please come to our morning muffin event. And tell your daughter hello for me, as we really need to start our younguns on the right path (that being said, keep her away from NASCARFAM & Bill of Green Achers). AGAIN, WELCOME!
  6. Uh, Bill? Those are the exact same sign! I was a witness to CVC Tag morphing from an ordinary 35mm film canister to a rather large man shape and later to a rather smaller female shape and finally saw it morph into a ringer. Though I had absolutely NOTHING to do with TAG being taken to GWV!
  7. Well said. Way to go everyone. [Who's reached milestones?] [i'm so lost.] Well let's see........ Photom 5000...............JPD43 3500................Radikel 1000............2 For the Road 2000 (or darn close!)................Wolf Grrl 1000
  8. I believe we are attending that one in Micke Grove. I'm looking forward to it. Shall we convoy cache on the way up? WOWSERS!!!!!!!!! What a great event! You really know how to show folks a good time. Not only that but you were able to get some of the folks (like Sanruft, GreenAchers & $ATM$) to attend as well! great fun, good people talking about geo-caching, lots of food, what more could you ask for in an event? I really had a good time and thank you for hostess & hosting the event. I don't think anyone was disappointed and I for one am grateful for what you did!
  9. Things has gotten really quite (but that's partly because I haven't upset folks lately). I hope to make it this weekend. I printed up a few Fizzy Micro-Logs onto Waterproof paper (just in time for the summer) and will make sure the first few folks that beg me, akem, ask me will get one. I also netted a few large micros that I'd like to see out. Maybe I'll put a couple up for a door prize. Heck, I may even go wild and maintain one or more of my caches. Now... who's turn is it for tar and feathering? Not my turn!
  10. Speaking of PLAY DAYS, I would like to tell you about my day today. Photom being the wonderful guy he is, put out a series of caches for one of our MAC family who has been having some priority issues of late and has not been doing much geo-caching. One day Photom & I were talking and we came up with the idea of an "intervention". So out goes Photom and plants all these caches and has them published so they would be available for the weekend, (the person in question happens to have a birthday on Sunday, so it worked out great). Now mind you the Master himself is in Winnemuka at a Photography thingy, but I am here and I make the calls and tell the birthday girl I'll be at her house ready to leave at 06:15AM! Not only is she ready, but her friend is there within minutes and off we go. Got first to find on all of them even though they were posted last night, (I expected someone may try to get to them before us, but I guess we left early enough to beat them). Not only that, but we had to have her back by 10:00 as the 2 were going to a school field trip at 11! So after we do the Intervention, we find a few more on the way back to her house. Then I go off and find a few more of the new local caches and call them to see what they are going to do now, and I am told, "We are in Modesto!" "What are you doing up there?", asks I. "We are GEOCACHING!" she squeals. Photom, I think the intervention worked! By the way, if you have not checked out the Atwater/Merced area recently, we have some new folks that are producing some OUTSTANDING caches! You owe it to yourself to treat yourself to the MAC caches. Just reading the KIT series will have you rolling! So what a great day I had! 2 really fun ladies to geocache with, several FTFs (and one of those dreaded 3 letter thingys, but I was all by myself on that one) and it was just a spectacularly beautiful day! Man it's great to live in California!
  11. I have it on pretty good authority that: a] JPD43 will be attending - and taking notes for me about BOGA's conduct. b] HappytobeFirst will be attending - and finding someone else to take her abuse. (She's tired of picking on me.) Y'all have a great time. I wish I could be there, but I have to go to Tucson to play Sherpa for my wife. ------------------------ Anyone up for the event in Visalia the following weekend? (GC18WMB) Evil Cow Pie Event Not only will I be there with Happy to be First, but I will also have Photommom with me!
  12. Darn it. And I was going to pay for you, Tom. Now THAT would be worth CANCELING my other trip!!! (Almost.) Go ahead. You'll never know if I'm once again telling the truth if you don't call me on it. You can always pay for me!
  13. I use a GPSmap 60Cx and I have the same problem. You can not use both the Street maps and the TOPOs at the same time, either one or the other. Plus if you go to the TOPOs you will not be able to use street routing.
  14. I am perfectly happy with my current GPSr. Also my spousal unit is absolutely perfect! She looks good, cooks good, and is often surprised if I am not out with Photom on any given Saturday. What more could a man ask for?!?!? Well maybe a Garmin GPS MAP60Cx that auto updates the maps every time you turn it on, one with Bluetooth so files could be transfered automatically from a PDA, one that automatically removes the icons of caches that have been found from a a friend's Magellan. But I digress........... Just remember if she asks, Bill, the stuff I said about her cookin' and lookin", OK?
  15. Jpd, Did you happen to see a new possible cache location on the other side of the freeway. I did, but the only reason I put the one where it was, was because of the Palmer Reader sign across the street.
  16. Light tractor work! LOL. Actually, I had nothing to do with that (although stealing an entire pool was brillant) and I can prove it. I wasn't even in the area. Besides, OF and the Half Adults don't even like to cache anymore. I think the challanges where getting too hard. BTW, what do you think about the puzzle in 'Schugobble' (GCA1E3), Doug? Doesn't it look easy?! It should be a good warm up to your new pass time since you're so quick to step up to the plate. LOL I read this at 6:00PM on Sunday 8/12/2007 and emailed what I believe to be the answers at 6:20PM. Please me know if I got it right or not. OF was in town yesterday and I thought maybe, just maybe she had brought it back after admitting to this forum that she had taken it, but when i drove by today on teh way home from Costco, it was still missing.
  17. Welcome Team Rainbow! I can't tell how nice it is to have more members to the North. The Southerners have been running uncontested for long enough. LOL The quickest way to meet people would be to either stir things up or attend the next gathering (I think two are being concidered currently)... or you could attend the next gathering AND stir things up. That's what I like to do! No dates have been set yet. Stay tuned on this forum for that. So, have you enoyed any paticular cache in CVC yet? There's some great adventures around here. Uncontested?!?!? Stir things up?!?!?! That had the sounds of a chalenge there Mr Bill! You like to do both do you? Buwhaaaaaaaaahahaha! Things may get more interesting now that a gauntlet has been tossed. Was it you that was responsible for Outrageous Fortunes coming up missing? If it was then I concede right now, as that was a master stroke, stealing the whole pool and not just the little 35 mm container.
  18. No kidding! And it would be really handy if they had a Bluetooth function too.
  19. The icons not being the same is not a real problem, but I don't get to see the custom POIs until I get right on top of them. Sometimes you may drive right past one as you are going to the next. It does map the route just fine and when I get close enough it will show the point and name and all, I was just wondering if there was a way to get them all to show the way a geocache file shows all of the geocaches.
  20. I don't believe I have, but wouldn't they still show up as the rectangular box with the name in it?
  21. Using the "Silly Garmin Tricks" thread I was able to get my custom POIs loaded to my data card and all is well. I have the Name, difficulty, terrain, hind and container all there, and this is great. However, none of the POIs show up on the map screen. I can navigate to it using the maps and it does give me the routes, but doesn't show the waypoints on the map. Is there a way to get them to show the way the geocaches do?
  22. Every time you load maps, it deletes all old info and over writes with the new maps. So if you want to have both sets of maps, you have to pick all the maps you want on the unit at one time, (up to 2025 segments) and then transfer them all at once. Once you have them all on the unit you can then select which set of maps you want o have displayed by going to the map set up. I use this for streets vs. topos. They both won't show at the same time, so I use the street routing to get me to the parking area and then turn off the streets and show the topos.
  23. But remember, you can also use the card to store tracks, custom POI's with icons and with the latest software there is a usb mass storage mode so you also have an extra 'secret' file store.... I use a 2 gb SanDisk and it works fine. I have the entire US maps and some West Coast TOPOs on it. The info about the 2025 map segments is good to know as I tried to load all the TOPS for the US and after about 2 hours of trying to load it came back with the failure of too many maps, but didn't tell me the limit. I am curious though about the Custome POI storage on the card. I use this function in case I don't have the computer around to download a new set of GSAK files, but when I try to use them it doesn't show the waypoint on the screen until I am at the end of the leg. Is there any way to get it to show them on the screen when you go that mode? Also when I load the file from the POI file I get the GC number rather than the name of the POI, is there a way to change that? I get all the infor when I select it, but I would like to have them show on the screen the way the Geocache .gpx files show.
