  1. Ok, I thought that was a little freaky! Is there a work around, or am I stuck? Can I revert back to the old version?
  2. Thanks! I'm guessing since you are a reviewer, you can actually see this cache and it's issues? I hope it gets published because, due to its location...its going to get found, and it doesn't seem fair to not be able to log it. I think it will probably get muggled soon, but while its around it would be nice to be able to log it.
  3. If you remember the names in the log, you can ask them what caches they found, and they might even remember that one. How old were the logs? If you're real lucky, the Travel Bug is listed as being inside exactly that container. If not, you can contact the last person to log it (or maybe the TB owner), for some clues. And write to the Cache Owner of a nearby cache. They may reveal all. Good luck! Unfortunately I don't remember the names, expect I know the owner's name had the word Armadillo in it. I thought about snapping a picture of the log, but forgot because we were in a hurry. They where recent, 11/2 was one of them I think. The TB was marked missing, and was last seen in Cali, so when I logged it in the cache down the road, it says I moved it 1442 miles, when really I only moved it .15! I thought the TB owners name looked familiar from the log, maybe I'll write them to see what's up. Thanks!
  4. So we went back packing and we were looking for this cache: http://coord.info/GCHQ2Q Josh said "hey, I found it!" about .15 miles before we got to where the GPS was telling us to go. It was another cache, and It wasn't really camoed, and clearly visible from the trail for all to see. Inside was a log book, signed twice, and a TB. I picked up the TB, signed the log, and was off to the next cache. Problem is, I can't seem to find it listed on the website. I know it may have never been published, or may be disabled, but is there anything else I can do to try to find the cache page so I can log it?
  5. that's a bit of a no-brainer. you can't use a GPSr to replace a smartphone, in the same way that you can't use a smartphone to replace a GPSr. Ok...so I should have said ".so I'm getting the 450 to add to my toolbox, not replace my iPhone as my primary geocaching tool."
  6. Well the last one is NOT for caches you hid....hmmm wonder what it is?
  7. I know one is for Premium Member Only Caches.
  8. I think yall are being way to hard on the OP. I don't see what's wrong with a nice C&P log. If tell you all about the geocaching road trip we took and include a funny story, and thank you kindly for the cache. Does it really matter if the other Cache Owners get the same log? Sure it would be nice to include something specific about the cache, but if you found 100 caches, but just because you copy and pasted a log doesn't mean it cant be nice! I don't think the OP was taking about some TFTC logs.
  9. My reply to someone else about the iPhone. "Right now I am caching with my iPhone 3GS exclusively (but I have a rain check for the Oregon 450 at Bass Pro). Not being familiar with GPSrs I think the iPhone app is great for city caching, especially using the satellite maps. Battery life is a problem. I got a Griffin battery reserve. For areas with bad 3G coverage I use the Geosphere app. It is harder to use the iPhone in wooded areas where you can't tell where you are on the satellite map by using visual references because the GPS sometimes lags or jumps around before settling down. It gets me where I need to go, but is terrible for hiding caches. But I love being able to whip out my phone wherever I am and scan for caches, upload logs, and use all the website features as well (create, run, and download PQs especially). Its a super handy tool, but it has its limits....so I'm getting a the 450 to add to my toolbox, not replace my iPhone."

  11. So, my second cache, which was the coolest of them all got muggled. I verified it was gone today. Hope to replace it soon. I know these things happen, but I expected it to last more than a month! Ok, just had to share. http://coord.info/GC2EWKK
  12. I got a rain check for the sale price tonight, so here's hoping I have the money when they come in!
  13. I geocache exclusively with my iPhone, I noticed that the "accuracy" listed is always terrible, but the phone will usually put me within 20 ft of the cache no problem, often within 5-10ft. The biggest problem is when it lags or is slow to catch up. Keeping it on the satellite map view helps let you know if the GPS is tracking you or not. Also watch your distance to the cache, once you stop moving, it will continue to drop. Stop every once in a while and let it settle to avoid overrunning the cache and doing endless circles around it. And use your geosense. And if you do alot of caching on it, you might want to get a reserve battery, because it drains the battery fast. Happy Caching.
  14. Oh yeah, I am very familiar with my local Bass Pro. I meant I have to find the GPSr, Bossier is sold out, but I hear you can get rain checks...so that might work out better anyways depending on when they come, I may have a little more disposable income!
  15. Ha! Thats my store! How did you get a rain check, just go to the store? Did they give you any trouble? Wow you've been busy since 19 Oct!
  16. WOW! Thats an awesome deal! Thank you, this is the great. Now I have to see if I can find one!
  17. Hi all, I was trying to decide between a Explorist GC and the Dakota 20. I just found out that the GC is not mac compatible. I liked the Dakota, because I wanted a compass and chirp. But the price is pretty steep. I there anything out there more entry level that has a compass? Thanks for the help

  19. Can we get one of these pinned and close the ones that keep showing up every single week! Its so discouraging/whinny.
  20. I love how they used Wikipedia as a source, and clearly did not do enough research to even have a clue how the game works. Seriously...transmitters? (well there are chirps...)
  21. I want to get one in a few months. Anyone know is it possible to get vanity codes? Or do you just have to order a bunch of bugs and pick the one you like the best?
  22. This thing is awesome! I couldn't believe my eyes as I watched the % go up instead of down while caching. Best ever. Just had to share. http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/reserve-battery
  23. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...d3-449fb8a58718 Some caches are archived because the violate the guidlines. For instance, this one that I found. (At the time I wasn't sure...I thought I read something about not being allowed on school property, but didn't think much about it, untill I was looking at my old logs and saw it was archived.) Should people keep finding and logging this cache? I don't think so.
  24. My Mom actually told me about it in 2001, however I never got a GPS to check it out. Then recently a friend of mine mentioned it on facebook, I was like..."oh yeah, I wanted to do that, let me check out the website" I saw the iphone app advertised on the page and it was all over. I recently took my Mom on her first cache, almost 10 years after she suggested we do it.
  25. So I would like to get a personal TB, that would go with me and log into all the caches I visit. I have a few questions though. First off, when you do a personal TB, do you backdate the caches you already visited? I mean the tag wasn't there, but the actual bug (me) was. Not sure how this works. Also, does a Cachekinz work exactly like a TB dog tag. Does the page look different. Can any body give me the code (you know the public one) so I can check out a Cachekinz page? Is there any reason you couldn't use a cachekinz for your personal TB. Hope these questions make sense and thanks in advance for your help.
