  1. I can pretty much guarantee Coldgears plays xbox live, which is why he would want the souvenir. They are the equivalent to xbox live achievements. I know people that get gipped on their live achievements get pretty passionate about it too!
  2. Ok take a breathe. Did you wipe them off or are they still on your arm?
  3. Favorites don't have to be used for competitive purposes, they can be used for when you're visiting a new area and want to see a great cache without going crazy with the prep beforehand. Probably one of the coolest things this site has added.
  4. I found #98! Looks like I got some searching to do.
  5. Please excuse me... I think I totally misread your post. I need to go back and re-read it. So sorry. Edit: Yes, again, I apologize. I thought that it was you that posted a snarky log on someone else's cache. Truth is... it was the other 'way around. I can see why you would be bothered by that, but you can't please everyone. I would probably send them an email that would attempt to find out what the real problem was, but if that didn't work, I'd just let it go, figuring that the real problem was simply them. I also misread the original post. Yes that wasn't nice at all.
  6. I'm not sure of all the facts, or why there was so much animosity in the log. Maybe a bit more back story could help?
  7. Sounds like its a gift for you! Hope you traded for it!
  8. In cases I hope so no one gets a lure through their thumb.
  9. I'm about to drop in a limited edition geocoin, unactivated of course.
  10. I would rate it a 3/3. 3 because its tough to find, and 3 terrain because of all the poisonous plants.
  11. On Android hit settings, applications, manage application, then choose the app you want to uninstall
  12. I usually just bring along a bag of candy for the kids. I call the kids right over and tell them I have to "show them something special". Then I pull out the cache and the bag of candy, they all cheer from delight. j/k
  13. Get as close to the gz as possible, then put down your gps and open your mind. The gps is only a tool to get you to the right area, your abilities are then used to finish the job. Like anything else, the more you practice the better you get. Don't give up!
  14. Erm not sure to be honest its C:geo Is GPS navigation turned "on" your phone?
  15. Much of this is debatable, and the last part is completely untrue.
  16. C geo is the app that breaks tos. Although soon hopefully not because the dev is testing the api.
  17. Are you saying you actually ate candy you found in a geocache?
  18. I found popcorn and left a slice of pizza. I'm hoping to go back and find pierogies but no one ever trades up!
  19. Yes, I would agree that any discourse with a new cacher advising them that blanks logs aren't acceptable is misleading. However, advising new cachers that blank logs are not preferred by some cachers is not misleading. But that's not what this is about. This is about a veteran cacher lying to new cachers, telling them that these sorts of logs are explicitly "taboo." Yes, taboo is not the correct word because blank logs are not forbidden. A more accurate phrasing would be that those logs are not considered the most desirable way, yet acceptable, to record your find on the website. That is not accurate, because you can only speak for your own preferences. The best option is to leave these new cachers alone and let them figure out their own preferences, and save private messages for instances where a new cacher has done something that is actually harmful or in violation of the guidelines. I appreciate your opinion, but I respectfully think that is not the best option. I guess we can agree to disagree, but I'm not going to argue with you on the internet about it any further.
  20. Which is exactly what I do. If they choose to ignore me they can. Again I don't think sending an email to someone is a big deal. If I did there would be several nigerian princes that need a stern reprimand. Anyway I'm speaking from personal exp. I wish someone had helped me out a bit when I started. I see your point Narcissa, but I'm within my rights to send a courteous message to whomever I choose.
  21. While I have not gotten any blank logs yet (how's that for cursing myself?), I have gotten a number of logs indicating that the cacher was after numbers rather than the experience I was trying to show him/her. (Great view: Log - "8 of 15. Didn't see anything because of the fog.") Okay. No skin off my snout. One can log caches for the numbers if one wishes. As long as he signed the log... I put the cache thre because I liked the spot. I am not going to demand that the cacher like it. All that I require is that the cacher sign the log. Found a cache on an outhouse at a RV park today (Okay! It was on my Ten-Mile List!) Quite frankly, I could not think of anything nice to say, outside of "Good. I needed to use the facilities." (No. I did not log that, though I might change my log now...) What would you like me to say? I probably would have looked at how many caches you had found and moved on. If it was your third cache I might have emailed you if the log was blank. I would never demand anything of anyone, but I would try to encourage posting logs with some substance. If anything a log that indicates the status of the cache, if it was in good health or not. On a side note, if I was in your position I would probably write, "This cache STUNK. Thanks for the hepatitis."
  22. c:geo violates TOS on GC.com. It can get you banned from gc.com if you use that. c;geo is also a really bad app when it comes to finding a cache. For the paperless option, yes, its good, but the cache icon on the phone gives you about 50ft away from the original coords. I suggest you get a GPS. Care to explain how it gets someone banned? Does one's smartphone send a warning to gc.com? How many have been banned so far? Just asking While it could conceivable happen, it hasn't yet. Back on subject, to the OP be sure to check the difficulty before heading out to the cache site. Do some 1 star ones first to get the hang of it. If all else fails wait for a local geocaching event. I'm sure someone can share some tips with you.
  23. I gotta agree with narcissa, although maybe not the strong wording. The email is sent on the incorrect premise that TFTC or a blank log are wrong, incorrect or in some other way unacceptable. The log is a diary of sorts of the finders experience and there is no reason to leave them with the wrong impression that it is somehow "taboo". I honestly see Narcissa's point, but I am fairly positive I didn't start a geocaching apocalypse by emailing the logger.
  24. This kind of email is invasive and unnecessary, and far more egregious than a short log. Writing to people to chide them for violating your personal preferences is not "nice," regardless of how you word the missive. Really? So someone with 10 finds just KNOWS what the logs are? Go back in my finds history and check the first caches I ever did. I put in TFTC, the date and time etc. I wish someone had explained to me how important the logging process is. Narcissa your taking emailing someone WAY to seriously. The logging process is only as important as the finder makes it. Your personal preferences as a cache owner should have no bearing on how a cache finder chooses to log. Writing to new cachers to insinuate that there is something wrong with an action that is harmless and completely in keeping with the guidelines is deceitful and disgraceful. I don't even want to imagine how many new cachers have been misled by people who write to them privately with lies. For shame. You are making mountains out of molehills. I sent a courteous messages to a new cacher, and they can either ignore me and take some advice. That's their choice. You should tone down the intensity a bit. I understand your passion but geez calm down a bit.
