  1. Just throwing this out there. Ever consider maybe your playing with it more than normal because it's new?
  2. I think I just got busted! Been doing this since 06. Coldgears you super sleuth.
  3. Is this a common garmin issue? My 450 has never locked up like that
  4. Tampon commercials are seriously offensive to me. But BIG TAMPON won't change them no matter how many letters I send....
  5. The brightest GPS device I own is the 60Cx (the dullest is the Oregon 300). Are you saying that the Montana is brighter than the venerable and much admired 60Cx? It just barely beats the 60csx in bright sun IMHO. In low light the 60 is definately brighter. The screen is very vivid, contrasty, and large which definately contributes to its overall excellent visibility in bright sun. The upside is that even in shaded light or bright indirect sunlight the backlight is so bright it makes a difference. In other words it's very visible in all conditions. I can't believe theres no spring clip for this! Honestly the lanyard is a deal breaker for me. Swinging all around haphazardly.
  6. where did i say I am offended?...but it is common practice on public forums and places where you need to register to have certain words omitted as usernames lets be honest though, not many guys will find pictures of half naked women offensive copyright eh? thanks for the laugh What about gay males?
  7. no, they shouldn't exist and i am quite shocked that GC has not created a list of non-acceptable user names, much like the words that get censored here in the forums As long as they don't censor offensive avatars, right? you're kidding right? what exactly is offensive about it, or is it personal? i can dig up half naked women in avatars that i have seen here, that is not offensive? This is exactly why threads about censorship open up the proverbial "can of worms". What you think isn't offensive might be offensive to others. Personally, I'm of a mind that we should minimize censorship as much as possible, and stop being offended by such trivial matters.
  8. Have fun everyone! I simply couldn't get off from work to go. Maybe next year!
  9. Personally I usually put it in the reviewers hands and let then do as they will. I don't have time for snarky emails from angry C/O s. I got one after posting a NM (cache was destroyed) and decided to never do it again directly.
  10. Dude, calm down and do some reading. It is literally drag and drop, and the 450 is a fine unit. I understand your anxious to get out there but part of geocaching is being somewhat tech savvy. Edit: Winzip is also 100% free.
  11. Update: Sprint Nextel corp and LightSquared, Inc. have just reached a 15-year deal to provide high-speed LTE services, equipment, and share expansion costs, according to Bloomberg. All the details haven't been announced, but according to insiders the deal could be valued as high as $20 billion. From a letter from LightSquared financial backer Phillip Falcone to Harbinger Capital Partner investors obtained by Bloomberg: LightSquared and Sprint will jointly develop, deploy and operate LightSquared’s 4G LTE network. Sprint will become a significant customer of LightSquared’s 4G LTE network. We have no idea how this will affect any relationship between Sprint and Clearwire (which ain't exactly the greatest in the world), but we can tell you that your current Sprint 4G phones won't stop working until long after the contract is up. If Bloomberg is right on this one (and they usually are), expect a formal announcement soonish. That ain't good.....
  12. Well, I like the term "numbers run trail" to describe the modern "drive 528 feet to the next film can" style trails like the ET Highway trail and the Route 66 trail, which leaves "power trail" for the old-school "walk/ride 550-600 feet to the next unique cache" style trails. But the distinction doesn't seem to be catching on... I like that too. I'm stealing it!
  13. The best suggestion I can give is you make sure you have a good lock on your GPS. Once you do, get as close to the cache as you can using your compass. Once it starts to bounce around a bit, put down your phone and start searching. Sometimes people get caught up checking there device, but a GPS can only be SO accurate. You may need to look at a decent size radius.
  14. There's a "Tribute" trail a bit northeast of Bangor, Maine that has 200 or so caches. I have wonder what this game has come to when 200 caches placed within close proximity of each other and close enough to the road such that they can all be found in a day isn't considered a power trail. Agree with you there. (One of the tributes is to my sister!) Think ColdGears is coming up with a new definition of 'Power Trail'. (Not sure what his definiton is???) I did a nice twenty cache Power Trail in Newark, New Jersey. But I guess ColdGears knows better. Oh, well. There has to be a dividing line between a nice 20 cache power-trail and a 700 cache power trail. The line may be thin and vague, but there is plenty of room between 20 and 700 to realize that the line is crossed. Someone needs to make up new terminology. How about a "Low-power" trail for caches up to 20?
  15. The one near valley forge pa is a power trail with (from what I understand) some interesting caches you hike/walk to get. I plan on going to the valley forge one, just wondering if this is similar. Not similar at all. The valley forge one is along a bike/hike trail. It was only 100 caches and took about the same time you could get 500 or so in a regular power-trail (if not more) due to the walking/bike riding. This Delaware power-trail is going to be like route-66 and the ET-highway, meaning numbers hunters from around the world will eventually visit, get an easy 850 smilies, possibly due the other two powertrails the commission hid in delaware to get a total of 1,100 then leave. The Delaware commissions power-trails also differ in quality. The Valley Forge trails actually had a few good creative caches, tons of different containers, and they all meant to stay in place. Assuming this new power-trail will follow the same theme, the caches will all be film cans, and will encourage you to replace them if you have one missing with another film can, and you can take one sign it while driving, ect. One's for people in the local area for a fun, rewarding trail, ones to lure in number hunters. Honestly, I only did 10 of the valley forge ones, I didn't like having to walk to each one, I only did it because I thought it would be like a real power-trail, it wasn't... At all... Thanks for the info. This type of cache really isn't for me, I found out recently I don't really care for those types of runs. Have fun though! As for swag size, I don't have kids so I care little for swag. I do carry some around and trade, but not with any real enthusiasm.

  17. But are they quality caches?.... Are they grabs from the car or trail? Power Trails are usually quick grabs Define Quality as YOU see it. SS Good point. I define quality as, relatively watertight, interesting, clever, possibly original or uncommon.
  18. Not good advice, the only way to get rid of ticks is to pull em out. Tweezers or a tick key work best. Any tricks like burning them, having them back out etc can cause the tick to release fluids that carry lymes.
  19. Same for me. The official app blows away c:geo in terms of speed. c:geo is so sluggish. However, c:geo has a lot more features (trackable logging, etc.), few of which I care about. I only use c:geo if I can't use the official app for whatever reason. GeOrg is excellent for PQ-based caching. The v2 official app improved slightly in this regard, but GeOrg outperforms it by a large margin. The official app only has 2 advantages. 1. Speed 2. It doesn't violate geocaching TOS C:geo has live map, trackables, favorites sorting, better offline caching for pocket queries etc etc etc. Really the best part about C:geo is if you have a problem with it the dev fixes it right away. Right now the Groundspeak app is working alright, except for when I need to use pocket queries...then it fails totally. Huge downside IMO.
  20. Hit menu then navigate to cache. Easy peesy.
  21. Just as an fyi, the phones displayed accuracy is a tad inflated. And by a tad I mean alot.
  22. A giant shrine on top of a mountain. Pull the arm down, and a secret passage opens. Once inside the passage, you need to solve several riddles to release the final cache which was hidden in the wall. And the container is an ammo can. Filled with matchstick containers. And those are filled with nano's. Yea that pretty much sums me up.
  23. IMO this type of person would do more than disregard postings just for a FTF. They would disregard postings for any reason more than likely. Remember any type of person can be a geocacher, not just ones that respect rules. Anyway yes I think it gives geocaching a black eye, so you'll have to work extra hard by counteracting it with good deeds!
  24. As far as I have seen none have, however the forum does offer a stripped down mobile version.
