  1. Congratulations to The Fat Cats and welcome to the Yrium-card social set. Once Tom releases your card he'll contact you to pass on the secret handshake. The hard part of doing an Yrium-card layout is finding source images that can be used to express a theme chosen by the related recommender; in this case, Ramona Retired Snipe. How odd it is this time that I happened to be the photographer for the main source image. The theme? Well, to feature the Fat-Cats Avatar, Sue and Mom, Chelsea the GeoDawg, Puzzle Queen, and a Jeep painted blood-red as a tribute to Sue's renowned surgical skill. (Tell me about it.) Here's a link showing the source images used. Yrium TNG 16 Source Images Hurrah for The Fat Cats, Harmon SD Rowdies Note to Self: Change sheer-strip before dinner. Thanks to Flagman and SD Rowdies for all their hard work this week getting these cards ready. So glad to see the final product after looking at the drafts. BTW when you all get to read the back of the card there's a note "rookie on the side of the road." That was me on my third Geocache outing. And it's lead into a great friendships and love of caching. I hope everyone enjoys! Mom, Chelsea, and I are so honored to be picked for this Yrium card...Thank you, Doug and Anjie!!! We're both so glad to have met you, too. We love the layout and while we hadn't noticed the resemblance of the color of Betsy to the color of poor 'Ol Eleven Fangers' blood, we can definitely see it now. And remember our new code phrase, "Doug in the Desert!" (To explain...I tend to argue with Doug about routes and such when we're in the desert Jeepin' and I'm always wrong...always!!! So I asked Doug to say "Doug in the Desert" when I'm being stupid, this being much politer than saying, "Sue, shut up!!!" And just for the record, anyone can use this phrase and I'll be reminded to hush up (anyone, that is, except for 'Ol Harmon!)
  2. I think these coords should get you close... N33° 12.028 W115° 34.716
  3. Congratulations go out to Ramona Retired Snipe for hitting 1000 finds!!! Welcome to the Kilo Club, Doug!!!
  4. So, how was the hike? Were you able to connect the two trails? What was your final total hiking distance? Looks like a really cool trail...wish we could have gone!
  5. Yes uh oh! Infected, new tear or paper cut? I know your working hard. Naw, just that the dried outer layer peeled back so had to trim it off with my fanger-nail clipper. Thought I should post a shot for this gross-out series. Kind of looks like a scratch from a feral cat. Yes, working a bit but not hard at all. Mostly just waiting on a pal of ours and sitting by my front window waiting on The Fat Cats to pull up with some homemade cookies or a pie; you know, some sweet-treat for the victim. But no. Guess those days are gone by so I baked a batch of homemade chocolate-chip, raisin, and walnut cookies. No need t' worry about me, I'll be O.K. Poor ol' Harmon I would sure love to bake you a treat sometime, ol' Harmon, but I don't want to add food poisoning to the list of my transgressions against you... Maybe I can convince Barrie to do a bit of baking
  6. Congratulations!!! We still remember our 100th find.
  7. Wow That looks really good. So glad to see. You would be happy to know that everyone was WELL warned whenever "The Perp" got near a sharp instrument. Also the Perp was loudly exclaiming when the desert took it's own sample of DNA right through the bottom of her sneaker. And yep the first responder had to remove the sharp bloody instrument of pain. No other remedies we're required. Unless her foot doubles in size by tomorrow. Doug, Glad the the word is out on the Unnamed Perp'. I expected that she was in for payback pain ... "As you sow shall you reap." You are well-established as our First-Responder so maybe it's time for you to airbrush an advert' onto the doors of your Jeep. Harmon Note to Self: Sue thinks she can ignore this but that won't work. I am very happy to hear that both James and Harmon are healing nicely! You're both most deserving of quick recoveries from your recent encounters with sharp objects. Harmon, you did a fine job warning everyone of my switchblade-wielding antics of a week ago...no one let me anywhere near a knife the entire campout! Skillet asked us to take a garbage bag over to the rangers' station, and when I asked him for a knife to cut the tie wrap holding it to the post--oh, you should have seen the look he gave me!!! I could see images of bloody appendages and weeks of rehab flashing through his mind. Needless to say, he grabbed a hammer and ripped the tie wrap apart himself. And the First Responder tells no lies--he came through again, deftly plucking a bloody intruder from my foot, which he then threw back into the desert. I agree with 'Ol Eleven Fangers, the Iron Horse needs proper advertising on its doors.
  8. We're behind, too...Congratulations, Everyone!!!
  9. I just knew this was coming and I've been checking my email all day! I warned 'Ol Harmon that if he posted a pic of an amputated fanger, I would give him a good 'Ol DiNozzo headslap (guess he headed my warning, huh ). What he doesn't mention is that HE actually did all the slicing and dicing his 'ol self...I just provided the necessary tool! And my Dad always told me a sharp knife is better than a dull one. Guess Harmon was testing it to see if I'd listened to my Dad or not...silly Harmon!!! My Dad also told me never to test the sharpness of a blade with a fanger tip... I'm thinking Harmon didn't get the same sage advice growing up! Sincerly, The Unnamed Perp Note to self: Never loan out a non-locking pocket knife to an unsuspecting elder (even if you do warn him first!!!)
  10. A big Congratulations to FlagMan for finding 1000 puzzle caches!!! Flagman 1000 Puzzle Finds
  11. Way to go lulu499 on 9,000 100 for the santee goonies, You are on your way for sure. Congratulations to lulu499 and the santee goonies!!!
  12. Chirp is the first-generation design, wait until you see the 3G version called Hissy-fit that, when you approach the hide, makes a container jump up and down and start shouting "Over here! Over here!" By the way, something I wonder about, have any of you GeoDawg owners trained your dog to sniff-out cache containers for you? If not why not? Seems like a useful thing to do if coupled with snake-avoidance training. To state an obvious point the command would be "Find" not "Fetch." Harmon Ol' Pal- Why in the world do we need to be trained for that? When we have our two legged Sherpas trained to do it for us. While we are enjoying ourselves chasing rabbits, getting burrs in our hair, gathering ticks for later, etc., our ever-faithful friends Find the cache, log us in (no opposable thumbs for holding the pen) and rehide the cache. Thanks for the clarification. Now there's one-less thing my pillow can nag me about. Woof-woof, Harmon Too funny...Chelsea totally agrees with Piglet! Snoring, do you hear snoring??? That's Chelsea, but you should ignore her snoring...she had a rough 1-mile hike today!
  13. Congrats!!! Wow!! How'd we miss that??? 16,000!!! Congratulations, you two!! AWESOME YOU 2! Which one was it? 16,000 You're fingers must be smoking! Must be trying to catch the KWver's while they're on "vacation". Great job you two! THANKS FOR ALL THE CONGRATS EVERYBODY! As for which one was #16,000..........we have NO idea, but it was somewhere on the ET Highway. We were just too busy to get all of that logged, and we only had a few days between that trip ,and this last weekend in Victorville. So we logged Victorville/environs first, then went back to ET, and we still aren't done. I think we found those caches faster than we can log them. Lulu gave us a new program to try, so we'll get on that and see if it's faster. Keep an eye on J&J, they should be at 16 K pretty quick. Still having fun!! The Splashes Congratulations, Splashes!!! That was a quick 1K!!!
  14. WoooooooHooooooooo!!! Congratulations, Ragfoot!!!
  15. What else can we say but WoooooooHooooooooo!!! Congratulations, Tom!
  16. Very cool, mmcgr! So happy everything turned out okay and you were able to finally make the find as a Milestone! Congrats on 4000!!!
  17. Looking forward to it! Head's Up.....the event page will be updated but everyone start thinking about whether or not they want a San Diego Geocacher's tshirt as we'll be selling them at the campout and I will be needing some pre-order numbers to get the order in. We're using the simple SD Geoachers Logo..small on the front and larger on the back. Probably light ash as only light colors look good with the logo. I'm expecting the tshirts to be under $15 and sweatshirts or hoodies we also be available for approx $20-23. I'll need qtys and sizes and will let ya know the cut off. Still working on the quote and the artwork.... New master of logo artwork delivered to Jodi. Also Uploaded it to San Diego Geocachers.org site so that everybody can access it. Make sure to resize for largest dimensions when viewing it on the link below. Master Artwork: San Diego Geocachers Logo I also have a color-separation version available for silkscreen printing. It's four colors and the black text below the artwork can be either included or excluded. Isn't that old guy amazing....never thought you'd hear me say that did you? Ok...if you want a shirt email me with the qty and size. We will also have hoodies and sweatshirts. When I get the final prices I will have Skillet update the cache page. Is anyone making stickers of this logo any more? My back window has been bare far too long. We could use a new one (or two). The one on our RAV has turned a dark brown
