  4. Today's weather was cool at Sweetwater Resevoir...We were sure that the snakes would be inside but what do ya know...I came within 4 feet of a rattler stretched out across a rock only 7 feet from a cache...I moved the snake with my walking stick and boy howdy did that snake get mad!!! At first the snake didn't look too big but when it started winding up it seemed that the snake would never end coiling up...It rattled a good ten minutes and put on quite a show...we got a picture of it and it can be seen in our gallery..first one that we have seen this season! So glad everything turned out okay today! With the recent reports, I think we all have to be extra careful about snakes this year! And don't forget your geo-pups, too! They need their avoidance training and shots.
  5. Our community is diminished. Rest in Peace, cegrube. We never had the pleasure of meeting cegrube. Our condolences to his family. May he rest in peace.

  8. We've been on the road a lot lately, so we're a bit lagging in the congrats that are due... A huge CONGRATS to fossillady on her 5000th find! She's been caching way longer than most of us and she sure makes each find count! Way to go, Rebecca!!! So happy we could be there with you!!! And for an EarthCache, to boot...hooyah!!! Congrats to bon scott who hit his 2500th cache with us at Rolly - 101st Dalmatian!!! I know we slowed all of you fit young men down, but we sure did enjoy your company!!! Thanks for waiting so we could share this moment with you! And most recently, congrats to Ragfoot for reaching his 8000th find! By gosh, but that man sure does move fast!!!!! Keep on caching, everyone, and keep having fun!!!
  9. I just checked through mine and they all seem to look fine...
  10. Just so you know, take a look at this link to see how Jeep people turn out. Fair warning. Avoidance of jeep ownership will not save you from Harmon's unique perspective (shall we say) of the universe. The secret is to post no photographs (or if you do, put them some place where Harmon can't find them...) Why I oughta ...! Looks like a Hoot!! Paper-hat power! Well that didn't take long. Harmon, ye have no shame! No shame, are you kidding? My momma said "Shame on you" most every day while I was growin' up. Say, now that you checked in on this discussion, Sue, perhaps you can help me solve a mystery ... why is it that Jeep people wear hiking boots? For some reason that have yet to understand to own or to ride in a Jeep seems to bring with it a need to wear a color-coordinated L.L. Bean hiking costume. Whyzat? Hmmm...since I've been wearing tennis shoes for the last six months or so, I'm going to have to pass this one off to RRS or FM or the Splashes

  12. April would probably be a good time to go. Should be warm but not too warm.
  13. Some helpful coords, from Vegas to Tonopah: Iron Skillet restaurant/gas station - 36 16.762 115 01.547 Loves/Subway at I-15 and Hwy 93 - 36 22.976 114 53.722 Sinclair Gas Station in Alamo - 37 21.902 115 09.589 Shell Gas Station in Ash Springs (open 24 hours) - 37 27.803 115 11.643 Little A'Le'Inn - 37 38.801 115 44.760 Shell Gas Station in Tonopah - 38 03.915 117 13.650 It's a long, long way in between gas stations out here...153 miles from Ash Springs to Tonopah! Normally that wouldn't be that far, but if you're running your A/C and stopping/going all the time, you'll use your gas much faster than normal. Bring extra gas!
  14. Happy Geo-Anniversary!! You're one of the few cachers I know from as far back as 2001. Cool that you're still around and still having fun with the sport!! Happy 10-Year Geo-Anniversary!
  15. Just a heads up...August would be a very hot month to do this run. We did the run in July last year and experienced temps up to 113 degrees. It's doable...just be prepared.
  16. :antenna: Great job, Bob!!! Loved reading your log :antenna:

Congrats on another HOF, Linda!
